My husband and I visited Rome in May 2012. We chose the Lancelot as our hotel and we were very glad we did. Our room was small but had a very nice bathroom clean and tiled. The bed was comfortable though the bedspread was worn. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and we used their car service to get to the airport for 40 euro. The breakfast was awesome with many choices of cereal, breads, cheeses, yogurts, and fruits and other items too numerous to mention. There are two good restaurants close by and the bus service is also close. I felt very safe walking all around the entire area.

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor at the front of the building and we heard no noise during the night. Nothin...

We stayed at the Lancelot for four nights beginning June 30 and for one night on July 8 (we traveled to and stayed in Sorrento in between our stays here). The hotel is a short walk to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, some great restaurants, bus stops and metro. It is in a quiet neighborhood.

Upon check-in there was some confusion over the two rooms we booked. We had requested that one room be a triple (which we received) and the other room have two beds - which we didn't receive at first so we had to go back to the front desk to get a different room which we had to wait several hours for as it was being cleaned. Thus, we got to see several different rooms in the hotel. The rooms vary in size as do the bathrooms. Our triple room was very small and cramped as was its bathroom, which had only a shower. The room with the two beds, however, was roomy and the bathroom was bigger with a bathtub. The rooms we had during our last night there were both sizeable but the bathrooms had only a shower.

Wifi worked most of the time, although it did have its "moments".

Breakfast was average.

Hotel staff were all very nice and extremely helpful.

Hotel Lancelot is a real step back in time - great service, attentive staff, old world courtesies. Great location - away from the madness but just close enough that you are not wasting time commuting to the sights. Get a room with a view of he Colisseum!!

Over the years I have travelled to countless countries and stayed in some fabulous hotels (and some mediocre ones and some horrible ones). The Lancelot is my favourite place. It's not just the elegant building (think chandeliers, marble, and antiques) and it's not only the happening location (in a traditional neighbourhood, down the block from the metro and the Colosseum) and it's not just the comfortable and immaculate rooms (with high ceilings, functional bathrooms, and large windows with shutters) and it's not just the lovely breakfast room (with an array of baked goods, artisan cheeses, and bottomless coffee). It's about the people ... Mrs. Khan and her son Ferris and the rest of the folks who welcome you and show a genuine interest in you and want to make your stay memorable ... which they did. Whenever I am back in Rome again (hopefully soon), I will stay at the Lancelot, there is no other place I would rather be.

This small hotel near the Coloseum is a hidden gem! It's behind a secure courtyard and has all the necessary things to make your stay in Rome delightful! There's an elevator (albeit very small), air conditioning, and quiet rooms. The bathrooms are quite small, but you know...when in Rome! Breakfast was quite adequate and the beds were reasonably comfortable. We even got a discount on the room price by mentioning we booked the room because of the Rick Steves recommendations. The hotel staff was always so nice and helpful! Especially after a long day of sightseeing!

This is a short review, as there's nothing I can add that hasn't been said before.

We stayed here recently for 5 nights and booked directly with the hotel. Booking was straightforward and the price included daily buffet breakfast and wifi internet. I requested a quiet room on upper floor with a view of the Colosseum and was given such a room which we were really thankful.

The room had a king-size bed which was very comfortable and we had the best sleep while we were there, esp after a tiring day exploring all the wonders around the city. It's a rather spacious room as well. Bathroom was modern and there was plenty of hot water and good shower pressure.

There's an standalone air conditioner in the room and it was a bless to come back to a cool room after a hot summer day in rome.

Daily buffet breakfast was of high standard, consists of croissants and toasts, homemade jams, selection of cured meats and cheeses, and a good selection of cereals, dried fruits and nuts. Individual tubs of flavoured yoghurts were available too. There were at least 2 different juices available daily and of course hot coffee and tea.

Most importantly, the staff were amazing. All the staff were friendly and we were always greeted with smile. They do have a great team and this is what made our stay (and others here on TA) so special.

Location was very good, easily walkable to Colosseum and the colosseo metro station (5-10mins walk). There are a number of bus stops around which can get you to any of the main tourist attractions in town. There are a number of restaurants and bars around but it's situated at the back of a quiet road so it's not affected by noise of rowdy crowds. We felt safe all walking back to the hotel late at night.

I will certainly recommend this to anyone planning to visit Rome, and I will stay here if I return to Rome.

We enjoyed our 3 nights at Hotel Lancelot, the rooms were very cute and clean and it was nice to have a small balcony that overlooked the Colloseum! The staff were friendly and helpful, we just wish the breakfasts had more variety to them. Literally steps away from the Collosseum, which was nice. Would stay here again.
