We stayed here 17 years ago and loved it, so we returned at the end of July during our stay in Rome. Our triple room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. One of us found the bed a bit hard...but this was not a unanimous opinion. The staff is helpful and well informed. The breakfast is more than ample and delicious. The air conditioning was very useful during a very hot period in Rome. The location is excellent. The high point was a spontaneous opera performance during our dinner at the hotel. We highly recommend this hotel!

Stayed 4 nights here in August on recommendation of a friend. Read the reviews on Trip Advisor before booking and was sure it would be an acceptable hotel. We were not disappointed. Just 2 or 3 minutes down the street and you are at the Colloseum. This is a great location for many of Rome's ancient sites. We walked to the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Navone in about 40 minutes. Along the way we walked along the Tiber and the Jewish sector where we had a great lunch. The only public transit we needed to take was to the Vatican, and the bus stop was about 2 minutes from the hotel. The Roma Pass may be a good deal if you are staying elsewhere but we didn't need it staying at this hotel.

The Lancelot is a 3 star a hotel. The room and bathroom were very large. The bed was very comfortable. The air conditioning worked non.stop (we were there during the heat wave) but was a bit loud and the room could use a fresh coat of paint, but other than that, it was clean and the linens were good quality. The hotel is on a quiet little street and our room overlooked the courtyard in the front. We didn't hear any noisy traffic. There is a gated entrance which adds to the security too.

The staff was excellent. Knowledgable and helpful. They had good tips for getting tickets to venues and they sell bus tickets too. Every staff member we dealt with was cheerful, helpful and pleasant.

The breakfast was quite good. Boiled eggs, cold cuts, smoked salmon, a variety of cheeses and juices. There was cereal, breads, yogurts and lots of fresh fruit.

We enjoyed staying at the Lancelot and would recommend it to others.

This was our second stay at Hotel Lancelot - this is so close to the ancient Roman Sites all within walking distance. We had dinnner there one night and it was so much fun to visit with the other people there and get tips on what to see. The room was nice but smaller than the last room we had - very clean and comfortable and a very good value for Rome. The breakfasts are wonderful and plentiful.
They arranged a Pompeii tour for us that was great - the driver took us there and let us wander all day, though next time I would leave room in the day to visit the Archaeology Museum in Naples, too.

Room Tip: High floor and ask for a balcony over the courtyard

Couldn't be happier with our 3 nights at Hotel Lancelot. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to assist us with directions, information, questions, etc....in fact, Mr. Khan even offered and gave me a ride on the back of his scooter to show me a quick way out of the city! (I had to make a short excursion during our stay). My wife, 3 boys and I stayed in the family room, which was the perfect size for us. The hotel's location was great for us... a short walk to the Colosseum, Forum and other highlights of ancient Rome, yet was situated in a quiet neighborhood ffar enough away from the throngs of tourists near those sites. Breakfast was also very impressive...wide variety of items and delicious. In short, we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and hope we get back there one day!

We chose Lancelot based on the reviews and they on the mark. The staff at Hotel Lancelot are very warm and helpful and made us feel very welcome. They kindly accommodated us for early breakfast on two mornings . We had a big comfortable quad room that had a king bed and 2 single beds, very adequate for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk to the Colosseum and is a safe residential neighborhood with restaurants and two supermarkets (CarrFour and Tuadi). If you want to walk, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps are about 25 minutes away. We chose to take the bus and bought bus tickets from the hotel reception desk. We did not try the dinner given our schedule but it looks like a very good value. We also booked a tåxi to the airport with the reception for a little over the rate charged outside. It was well worth it as the driver arrived promptly and took us to the airport in a big comfortable vehicle. We would highly recommend Hotel Lancelot.

I concur with the other reviewers who found this hotel exceptionally well located with outstanding service. The management went out of their way to direct us to activities and sites, explain bus routes, arrange for a 5 am taxi and even book us tickets to galleries. While this concierge service is expected at a 5 star luxury hotel it was a pleasant and welcome touch at a more modest hotel such as the Lancelot. The rooms are average with a mixture of antiques and contemporary furnishings. We managed to get a room for 5 - likely unheard of anywhere else in Europe - which was huge with a large wrap around balcony. While this room was cool and airy our second (double) room was sweltering and cramped. Before I booked these rooms I communicated with the hotel as to the room arrangements thus you should do the same to ensure you get a more spacious room. My only other complaint was the breakfast was not particularly good. We found it not very tasty with a very poor selection. We had contemplated eating dinner in the hotel (fixed price menu) but after eating breakfast in the hotel we decided to go elsewhere. The street the hotel is on is very quiet and safe with a lots of restaurants near by. There appeared to be parking available inside the courtyard. For a well located, quiet, comfortable hotel in Rome at a reasonable price and fantastic service you will not go wrong with Hotel Lancelot. Note: the hotel was willing to prepare the evening meal gluten-free if we had eaten there. Another plus for this hotel for those with gluten allergies.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a large balcony.

All communications about room arrangements and special requests were responded to promptly and clearly. We stayed on the 5th floor with a small balcony that was pleasant. I bought watermelon from a store on the same street to eat on the balcony and Mr. Khan was gracious enough to chill it, cut it, and fixed us up with a platter and small plates. We ate dinner there one night and while we ate with our own party it was fun to see the hotel management join the other group of mixed travelers and share their stories from the day. We stayed at another hotel on the final leg of our 15 day trip to Italy and found that we did much better starting the trip at Hotel Lancelot. We were provided good recommendations for eating and transportation option instructions. You can request a cab at the front desk and it will be there in minutes. Easy walking distance to the Colosseum, metro, and a quick taxi ride to the main train station. Breakfast was more than adequate as we ate early and had no issues finding a table.

Room Tip: If someone wants more, request a 6th floor room with a balcony/patio. Our other traveling party did...
