Hotel Lancelot is a very charming, family owned hotel with wonderful customer service. The location is great, especially if you plan to visit the Colosseum, just a short walk away. Our room, a superior double, was very large with a lovely balcony. The lobby and bar area are inviting and a great place to enjoy a cup of tea or a glass of wine after a full day of sightseeing. The staff speak perfect English and are more than willing to assist with any request. Unique to the hotel is the family style dinner each evening. For a reasonable fee (for Rome) enjoy a lovely meal including wine in the hotel dining room each evening at 7:30PM. Meet and dine with fellow guests and hotel owners. Ask about private evening tours and experience the beauty and history of Rome after dark. A visit to the 6th floor balcony open to all guest is a must. We booked a car for our return to the airport and the driver was courteous and answered all of our questions along the way. The fare was reasonable and only 2 euro more than the fixed rate white taxi fare. Highly recommend!!

Room Tip: Rooms with a wrap around balcony are quite large. Although we faced the street, there was hardly an...

Hotel Lancelot is a lovely, family run boutique hotel situated on a quiet street only a few blocks from the Colosseum. The hotel staff was friendly and caring, and the hotel itself was clean, safe, organized and charming. A month in advance, they arranged for a driver to pick us up at the FIU airport, and it worked out flawlessly even though our flight was delayed and we didn't check in until midnight. When we did check in, we were greeted and welcomed by Mrs. Khan, who is truly lovely--our long and hectic 12 hour+ travel day from the western corner of Canada quickly melted away. Unless you feel comfortable driving in Italy, there really is no need to rent a car in Rome. The Colosseo subway station is about a 5-10 min walk from the hotel, which is very convenient. The hotel breakfast was superb; they offered a variety of fruit, yogurt, breads (the croissants were amazing), and a selection of prosciutto, salami and smoked salmon. If you're staying a few nights in Rome, we recommend having dinner at Hotel Lancelot as a must. The dinner was very reasonably priced, and the homemade lasagna on the menu that night was truly amazing. Perhaps the best lasagna we have ever had. In Rome, it's very easy to get caught eating at an overpriced "tourist trap"; Hotel Lancelot's dinner was not only delicious, but it also gave us a chance to meet fellow travellers and compare travel notes. The room we stayed in was charming; a minor downside would be that the bathroom was a bit small but, having said that, it's Rome--and one has to go to Europe with an expectation that the room at any hotel will be cozier. In any event, you'll hopefully be out exploring most of the day so this really is a non-issue. We were most pleased with Hotel Lancelot and will definitely stay there again...when in Rome!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write your kind and enthusiastic review about your stay at the Lancelot . We are very happy to hear that you found our staff to be friendly and caring and the Hotel safe, organized and charming.

Yes, admitedly some of our bathrooms can be a little on the small side by North American standards, however we are glad to hear that this was not such a big issue for you.

Our cook will be very happy to hear that you found his Lasagne to be the best ever. The dining experience at the Lancelot offers a freshly cooked three course meal with wine and coffee at a reasonable price and it is also a great occasion to meet other travelers and share conversation and travel tips. We are glad that you enjoyed this experience that is part of the convivial Lancelot spirit.

We are also very glad to hear that you look forward to another stay at the Lancelot next time you visit Rome.

Best Wishes & Arrivederci

A charming hotel, located close to coliseum and walking distance from the city centre. Rooms are relatively clean and comfortable, through a small computer monitor is substituting TV set. Amenities and fresh towels are also distributed very carefully and not so generously.
Breakfast is good, although not too many options.

Lancelote staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. My only and main disappointment was when I checked out and was ready to go to the airport, the reception desk and the manager/owner (separately), were very insisting and pushy in convincing me to call me a taxi with a "special rate" to take me to the airport. But do not be fooled! A taxi would cost you 30 euro, moreover you can easily take Leonard Express (leaves every 30 minutes) from Termini metro station. It costs 11 Euro + 6 euro for taxi to Termini.
Nopt quite sure what the deal with the taxi company is, but I must say I am quite surprised and disappointed that a respectful hotel bothers with this kind of nonsense.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the backyard are more quieter

Dear Guest,

Thank you for posting your review of your stay on Tripadvisor. While we are glad to hear that you found our staff friendly and accommodating, we are extremely sorry that you felt as though the reception staff and the co- owner of the Lancelot were pushy about booking a limo service to the airport for you versus a white taxi.

This was by no means our intention, and we are sad to hear that you perceived it this way, as we have we have no particular interest or "deal" with the taxi company, because as you rightly say, a respectful Hotel as we are, does not bother with similar nonsense.

We feel that it is very unfair on your part to have jumped to this conclusion and to insinuate that we are not in good faith and that we should in any way try to " fool " our guests in an underhand way to make some petty profit,.
We have a long lasting reputation of a Hotel dedicated to customer service and make every effort to ensure that our guests are always treated well and with absolute fairness.
Those who know and appreciate us for this, are well aware that we have no need or interest to make a few pennies off a taxi ride.

The reason that we suggest the licenced limo service is because the fare to the Fiumicino main airport is fixed at 50.00 euro inclusive of luggage ( for up to 4 passengers ) ,versus the 48.00 Euro of the white taxis and there are no surprises, as there often can be with the " official " white taxis.

We have been working with the Limo transfer company for many years and we can be certain that the level of service that they deliver, ( cleaner and more comfortable vehicles - drivers with at least some english ), are by far superior to that of the white taxis. Morever we offer this option to ensure that guests are charged a correct fare with no hidden surcharges and the fare goes entirely to the driver as our only interest is that of delivering good and relaible service to our customers.
Many guests write us back to us, saying how charming and knowledgable Giovanni the driver was.

Just to be precise, the Leonardo express to FCO airport is 14.00 Euro per person and the taxi from here to Termini is seldom less than 10.00 -12.00 Euro and more likely to be in the region of 15.00 Euro.
For guests traveling to Ciampino airport where the white taxis do charge 30.00 Euro, we always try to offer both options, the limo service and the white taxis.

Perhaps you were confused with the two airports,( and fares ), and you mistook our genuine endeavor to offer you a reliable transfer service for some sort of "deal " we had with the taxi company, which is sincerely not in our style and would be quite beneath us.

It is unfortunate that you felt disappointed and that you misunderstood our straightforward intentions and did not address your misgivings directly to us, however happily there are many guests who do appreciate our integrity and dedication to customer service and return to the Lancelot again and again.

Hotel featured a good size room for Rome. I requested to be in a quiet room and they put me on the top floor, which was indeed very quiet and could even see the top of the colloseum from my balcony. Only downside was that the room was very warm, and with no control over heating, had to sleep with the windows open. Very good selection of food available for buffet breakfast. Lobby area very nice with lounging area. Excellent location for exploring the city - most historic sites within walking distance and also 5 mins walk to nearest Metro station. Area felt safe to walk to hotel from Metro at night time. Would definitely recommend.

Located on a quiet side street just a few blocks from the Colosseum. They speak English and are very courteous. If you have a car, there is very small lot in front of the hotel. The street is very narrow and, with the location, you really don't need a car - a car would actually be a hindrance. The breakfast is not the best but very good. They offer a special if you eat dinner there at least 3 times per week. With the restaurants close by, I wouldn't recommend it. Try to get a room with a balcony. I like that the floors are uncarpeted as it helps keep things dust free. Not all rooms have bath tubs so if this matters to you, request one. The staff is always happy to make recommendations and are very helpful.

Room Tip: I like the rooms with a balcony and bath tub the best.

Very clean and friendly hotel, Great location - just about 100 meters to the Plaza Colosseo, Palatine Hill and Foro Romano. Included breakfast, which was quite sumptuous.
Will definitely make it my top choice again, whenever I'm in Rome.

Room Tip: Hard to say - the rooms are all good.
