“Dreaming of escaping”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014 via mobile

We booked the dreaming hostel after reading the reviews only to arrive there and find out that it is a makeshift hostel in the mans apartment. He has squished bunk beds that have broken ladders in the `girls dorm` and the owner even pulled out a trundle to add another girl in so there was no floor space, there were 7 girls in a 6 bed room. I don't understand how putting some beds into a unit can classify as a hostel.
He also would not allow people to buy alcohol from outside as he apparently had a cafe area, this apparent area was his kitchen/dining room/computer room.
My friend and I have never felt so uncomfortable, we left after one night, although we had paid for three.

I stayed 3 nights in the early of June, 2014. first two nights at mix-dorm and one night at girl's dorm. It's not far from the metro station of San Giovanni which is better than near Termini. From the hostel, you can get to the Colosseum by walk and also can take bus easily near the hostel.
The overall interior of the hostel is quite unique and made me feel comfortable like at home. The owner brothers are kind like your friend and they sometimes cook pasta for the guests. And when I stayed there, they brought us for special night tour by their car. It's not like professional tour program,, but I felt so nice and got unforgettable memories.
Just one thing, the size of hostel is not big including common area such as kitchen. And the beds in mix dorm make some sounds and shake when you move. But the bed in girl's dorm was not that bad.
Generally, it's recommendable place if you're not that much sensitive.

Room Tip: If you're a female, it's better to stay at girl's dorm.

Fabio and his team care for the Dreaming Rome hostel and it's guests. Location is just around the corner from San Giovanni and convenient to all surface and metro transport. The Colosseum etc and San Clemente are a comfortable 10-15 walk. Supermarketo and pizzerias are nearby. Good facilities for cooking your own meals, hostel wide wifi, secure residential building and fab common area makes this a hostel to put on your list in Rome. Thanks Fabio ...

WOW!!! This is THE only place to stay if travelling to Rome alone!

I arrived very late at night & Fabio was kind enough to stay up for me & to also message me to make sure I had arrived safely in Rome.

The hostel is well located and even as a lone female traveller I felt safe. Upon arrival I was warmly greeted & given a drink-a very personal touch. Breakfast was complimentary and I was also given a fabulous map as well as advice & recommendations for what to do & see in Rome.

Dorm rooms were basic but comfortable & clean as was the bathroom facilities. With two bathrooms available no-one feels rushed getting ready.

You can use the computers/ printers for free which is a big bonus!

The hostel is quirky & fabulous!!!

This is the best experience travelling alone I have ever had, which is mostly down to the real italian hospitality of the owners. I will never stay anywhere other than Dreaming Rome Hostel when I visit Rome in the future. Grazie Millie Fabio!!!

Room Tip: Don't waste time in Rome buying train/bus tickets...the real key is to walk about & you'...

I spent here 4 nights at upstairs and enjoyed my stay. Fabio and Dominico are just great hosts. Very attentive. Breakfast was included to the price -corn flakes, eggs, toasts, biscuits, yoghurts,.. and the biggest surprise: we were also invited to taste Fabio's cookings every evening!

I think only improvement which I would give is to get sturdy bunk beds to the dorm (not the shaky Ikea versions) instead current 7 beds, this way there would be more room for people to open their bags and also space to have lockers next to the beds (and this way there would be in total 8 beds). Now the floor space was quite limited.

But I really can recommend this hostel, really good athmosphre. Thank you Fabio, Dominico and other guests who were there same time.

This is a cute hostel in an apartment building. It is a good 20 min walk from the Colosseum and 5-7 from the metro. But it is a safe walk. It is run by two lovely brothers who really try to make it a great experience. One of them even drove us to the Colosseum cause he was going on an errand anyway, Breakfast is super basic but hey it's free. There are only two bathrooms which is kind of a bummer but they are very good ones and there isn't alot of people there so the wait isn't terrible. Would recommend!

Room Tip: There are some bars nearby so noise can be a factor. But nothing too crazy.

Just one night in Dreaming Rome. The owner is friendly, helpful, told us a lots of Rome landmarks with the maps, gave us advice on how to walk to the Rome attraction. Thus, you may find that a walking distance to collosseo as well (within 30 mins)

Furthermore, there is a welcome drink for us upon check-in. Free DIY breakfast as well. I like the hostel decoration, is quite nice!

Location: You may need to ask around the citizen on how to find the hostel once you are out from San Giovanni metro station, is not difficult to find, but time taken :)
