“Our Italy Trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2013

Our stay at the hotel was excellent. The front desk and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, the rooms were small but that is how it is in Europe. The food was excellent. Breakfast was set up lavishly. The staff, especially Gennaro, waited on us hand and foot. What was very special about Gennaro was that he made my 90 year old Aunt so happy by talking Italian to her and treated her so kindly.
The homemade bread was outstanding.
We ate the pasta every night at dinner, also outstanding.
If I ever went back to Italy, I would return there.

Room Tip: Ask for the balcony

We stayed there for two days while on a Cosmos tour. Service by the staff was very pleasantly cordial. The room was so very small that my friend and I just look at each other and laugh. The bathroom was good. The breakfast and dinner were very good.

Dear friend,
Thanks for your appreciations about the staff and the food, we put a lot of attention on our breakfast and dinner. About your room … we are sorry but it depends on travel agency choice. Cosmos tour books the little size rooms but; if you would like to come again, please let’s us know your preference about this matter and we shall make you an offer!
Thank you again

We found the hotel to be excellent. Friendly staff and great food. Breakfasts gave us a good start to the day and we enjoyed the excellent dinners each night. As the Pope was elected during our stay ,we could not enter the Sistine chapel so we have booked to return to your hotel in November. We are looking forward to it very much. Also, the free Shuttle bus was such a help.

Room Tip: we had a room high up ,overlooking Rome at the front and would be very happy to have same one in Nov...

Disregarding the travel instructions on the Hotel's website, we each bought an EUR8 ticket and took a train from Fiumicino airport to Trastevere and then boarded the train to Balduina, before walking 15 minutes uphill to the hotel (I suggest printing off the Rome train map and local map on Google). On arrival, the receptionist gave us a sheet of paper and a business card showing a local map and recommended bus routes, which was very useful. The free hotel shuttle bus to/from the Vatican and Cipro Metro station was also helpful as the hotel is located a few miles from the tourist areas, but book it well in advance. Unfortunately, the area surrounding the hotel is mostly residential and appeared to have no night life nearby, so we tended to eat in the restaurant in the evening by default. The pasta was reasonably priced at about EUR8, but some main courses cost over EUR20. The choice at the breakfast bar was excellent and the staff always very friendly. The hotel was very clean and air conditioned. Our room had a safe for valuables and a decent shower (no bath), but some noise did travel through the walls of the neighbouring room. Had the hotel been closer to the centre of Rome it would have been perfect, but at least the room prices seem to reflect the location. Overall, we were very happy with our three night stay but would probably stay somewhere more central to Rome if visiting for longer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a bath if you would prefer to have one.

Dear Clive 1968,
Thank you very much for your positive comments our shuttle bus service and for having given information about to book it. In your opinion it was better the way you’ve chosen to arrive in hotel or it was preferable to follow hotel’s information ? Thanks to appreciate the hotel’s cleanness and other service as safe etc. Talking about food, we can offer pasta with mushrooms, ham, peas and parmesan at only EUR 7, main courses start from EUR 11 (grilled chicken breast) to EUR 21,50 (chateaubriand – a rare tenderloin with vegetables ). We have also the big salad with eggs or tuna fish that can be a valid second course at EUR 7, or a complete menu at only EUR 29 ( A taste of Rome : you will have some wonderful taste of roman cuisine!)
We believe that smile is always the better welcoming! All staff said thanks!
Hoping to see you again

We stayed here for 3 nigths in August 2011.
This hotel was above our expectations because it was the cheapist one and we had no choice.
Room was extremely tiny but bathroom was huge so it was OK for two young girls.
We really was happy to discover mini-fridge because in Italy you always need place to store your cheese =)
Service was good, staff was friendly.
I don't quite understand why people complain about location. Of course, it's not a city center but only 10-15 by bus take you to the Vatikan's gate.
Also breakfast was the best compare to another hotels we had stayed during our Italian trip. And coffee machine was quite good.

If you have any questions, don't hesistate to ask.

Dear friend,
thanks for your positive comments about staff and service. Thanks to have appreciated bathroom and mini fridge and to underline the public transport , it’s very important knowing that ! To be at only some bus stops from Vatican it’s a big thing: you can sleep in a calm surroundings but at few minutes from the “movida” !
Today our breakfast offers a greater variety than 2011! It could be wonderful if you might try again.
Thanks for your willingness to answer at any questions !
Hoping to see you soon

We stayed for 5 nights with our friends in early June, 3 of us celebrating our 50th birthdays and our first trip to Rome. This was a lovely, very clean hotel, and would reiterate other reviews as to the knowledgeable and helpful staff throughout the hotel. Alessandro on reception deserves a specific mention, particularly when giving us directions from the hotel to Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli. The rooms were good, nice firm beds and modern bathrooms and a balcony overlooking the local garden centre. Yes, it is a few miles outside central Rome, situated in a quiet residential area but once you got used to the journey it became easier - we actually found it was quicker getting the bus back in the evenings from central Rome all the way back to the hotel rather than using the metro and bus (but the hotel shuttle bus was really useful to get to the metro station in the mornings!) My wife and I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant on the last night and it didn't disappoint - the steak was perfect and we both agreed it was our best meal of our whole stay in Rome. The hotel breakfasts were very good - lovely fresh fruit salad every day or you could feast on delicious home made bread, croissants etc! Rome is a beautiful city and lived up to all our expectations- we hope to visit again in the future and would certainly consider staying at this hotel.

Dear friend,
thanks for having expressed such positive comments for services, shuttle bus in the first place, and for the staff. The warm bread for breakfast, is a small delicacy that is a pleasure to offer to you all ! We are pleased that some of our guests want to explore beautiful surroundings as Villa Adriana that since 1999 is one of many Italian sites declared as World Heritage by UNESCO. Emperor Adriano loved to spend his holidays during the summer 2000 years ago. In fact Villa Adriana was built between 118 and 138 A.D. on an area of about 120 acres, now reduced to 40. Hand down to us that Adriano, especially loved the architecture, which he devoted himself personally and the features of the Villa, which differ from the usual architecture of that era, show out every doubt his participation and competence. In Rome it has another important monument built by Adriano, Castel Sant'Angelo, originally intended for the tomb of the emperor and later transformed into a fortress of the Papal States.
Magnificence of the ancient Roman emperors!
Sant'Angelo is near to Park Hotel dei Massimi, please come back for another taste of Rome!

First impression was not so much the hotel but the area, mainly residential flats and apartments in a low key area of the city away from the main attractions. The hotel looks quite grand compared with the rest of the buildings around it with a decent sized sit down area outside and a sloping garden for kids to play on the side. Inside the hotel gets better with a smart reception, lounge and a sight for sore eyes, a bar. The reception staff are pretty faultless, very helpful and polite (Allesandro stood out), the room was decent with a balcony though because we were on the back we didn't get the best of views and the evening meals were very good if you didn't fancy going out into the city for a late meal. Would recommend this to anyone who wanted a "quiet" place to stay as its a bit isolated but there's no problem getting into town as there's bus stop less than 10 minutes walk and free shuttle service provided by the hotel. Would I go back there? YES!

Dear friend,
thank you very much appreciating our services as shuttle bus. The garden in this season is a very pleasant place of peace !
Thanks for making my name, my workmate and I try always to do the best to welcome our guests, we are very glad about your idea to come here . However many customers love rooms overlooking the garden (to north especially now in summer) more than those with views of Rome (to south, warmer). But next time you’ll come back to visit us, please ask for a panoramic room (to south) and we’ll try to satisfy you!
Hoping to see you again
Best regards
Alessandro
