“4* only for service and location”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 October 2013

The location is 4* since you're less than 1 minute from Piazza Venezia.
The staff is more than 4* worth: highly professional, helpful and friendly.

All the rest (and I might begin with the coffee served for breakfast)
deserves less than 2* (guys, we are in Italy... if there is something you
should be good at is espresso!).
The room was the smallest I ever got in any other hotel and tremendously
noisy. The hair conditioning "might work" but it's extremely loud. Breakfast
was ordinary, the wireless provider has a bug (click on "forget my code" even
if it's the first time you're logging in) and the lift had a stinky smell (it might be
have been humidity).

We were a party of 3 and stayed at the Traiano for 3 days in mid September. We booked a triple room and were looking forward to this as we had stayed there 10 years ago and found it quite satisfactory. How things have changed! The first room they gave us was appalling, and we could not believe it was for guests as it was so shabby and the window was not operational and it looked like a storage room. When we asked to move the staff were rude and only reluctantly moved us the next day. That room was better, and at least had a nice window you could open and the furnishings were less shabby. The location was good near the Roman Ruins, and that was the only thing that stopped us checking out. This Hotel is definitely not 4 star and anyone expecting this standard is going to be disappointed. We would not stay there again.

Great staff. They were all so friendly...from the reception to the bell boy to the chef...all were extremely helpful and so friendly. That is the only reason I am giving this hotel 2 stars. Otherwise, it doesn't deserve much.

The sheets were a problem as they irritated my skin but I was told they couldn't change the sheets. There were no tea making facilities however, the staff gave you the hot water to take to your room. The breakfast wasn't anything special. We didn't even eat it for all the days we had paid for it. However, the cook was really awesome. I hope he's doing well.
We had asked for our room to be away from the main road. Nope, our room was on the first level right on top of the main road. REALLY noisy.
The wireless was equally as bad.

Location is pretty good though.

Room Tip: Emphasise the need for a room away from the main road...or at least on a higher level. Request for a...

The location is very good, many tourism attractions are in walking distance. The staff are really nice and informative. This hotel has a bell boy. Rooms are a bit old but very comfortable. Toilets have the washer. The negative part is the lack of safe box in the room. We used the safe at the reception. Breakfast is good. It was a nice 5 days of stay.

The company that we booked this hotel with went into administration the week before we were due to stay. They cancelled our booking and kept our money (2 nights B&B) leaving us quite a bit out of pocket. Although this was not the fault of the hotel as such I thought they might help us out, after all they should be careful who they allow to sell their rooms for them and should ensure they receive the money people pay to stay in their hotel straight away to ensure this can't happen. As far as we were concerned the hotel had our money and nothing could go wrong. When I contacted the hotel to see if they could then give us the same room for a reduced rate they claimed to have resold the room already (the next day) which I don't believe. We had to find alternative accommodation and lost over £200 and this hotel couldn't care less.

This hotel is amazing for the price and location! The breakfast (7-10) is really good if you wake up really in the morning! Everything is walking distance: Colosseum (and metro) 10 minutes, Trevi Fountain 15, Spanish Steps 20, Popolo Piazza 25, Vatican city 40. There are good restaurants upstreet. The staff is just amazing! Special thanks to Luigi and Tony! They both helped me out with some reservations! I will stay again here if I ever go back!

Rome is amazing. We had booked this hotel to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, his cousin's 50th birthday and their 25th wedding anniversary. For us, these are very special celebrations and felt confident that by choosing a 4 star hotel, we could not go wrong. We had also informed the hotel about our celebrations when booking the hotel. However, when on arrival at the hotel we mentioned our celebrations to the receptionist, he thought nothing of it and there were no treats in store for us. Our room was dark & gloomy, we had no daylight as the window was very small and we couldn't open the window because of scaffolding obstructing the opening. The only reason we did not ask to be moved is because the rooms were near the other couple we had travelled with. The room had no glasses to drink anything from except thin plastic cups. The complimentary toiletries were awful. There were no tea making facilities. No information about the hotel in the room. There was a fridge in the room which had 2 bottles of water but there was a very rude note to inform us that if the fridge was used for anything other than drinks/food from the hotel, they would not hesitate to throw the products away. The face towels provided were white kitchen towels. The breakfast - tinned fruit salad, very basic cheese and meats. A tea/coffee machine but no milk on the table. No sugar, just sacchrin and only one choice of cereal. The only cutlery on the table was a teaspoon and a knife. The staff in the breakfast area were helpful but not friendly. However, the pastries were enjoyable and the decor of the room was amazing. On our return journey to the airport, we had booked a taxi via the hotel receptionist. He had told the driver that we were going to fiumicino airport and we should have been taken to ciampino airport. Luckily we had left in plenty of time to get to the right hotel but the driver was not impressed with us even thought it wasn't our fault. The reason for my review is because when you book a 4 star hotel, you expect 4 star service. This hotel is not a 4 star, we would rate it as a very basic 3 star hotel. Luckily, we were not in the room much, hence the reason for not complaining whilst there and it was only a short trip therefore, it was bearable. However, if you are staying longer, I would think twice about booking this hotel. This is a small hotel therefore the poor customer service is very noticeable, the reception staff were not forthcoming with their smiles or their service. Yes, the location is good but there are so many others to choose from in that area. Although the hotel was a huge let down for us, Rome is an amazing place and so much to see. Ladies, you need to leave your heels at home and take sensible walking shoes as the only way to see Rome is by walking. Another fantastic way to see Rome is with the bike rickshaws. Our trip was made very special by rickshaw drivers Pablo and Alexander. They became our personal tourist guides and they went above & beyond customer service. We ended up drinking champagne and limoncelli with them near the Pantheon (their treat). They took us to see sights that we would have missed, they were very friendly, funny, trustworthy and very reliable. If you go to Rome, try and find them. We met them near the Colosseum and have attached photos should you ever go to Rome.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has natural light, decent view and you are able to open the windows without any...
