We are an older couple and had booked this hotel based on Internet and Trip Advisor reviews. All true, except some adverse comments about the neighborhood. To have the Metro literally out the front door and train station across the street more than makes up for a few drinkers who hang out in the park at night. Never felt unsafe, walked to restaurants at night, and enjoyed the famous, historic gelateria around the corner. Service was spot on with concierge always on duty. Breakfast was a large meal with fabulous hot chocolate and freshly-squeezed orange juice upon request. Hotel restaurant was so-so for dinner, but there were world-class restaurants within walking distance. Our impeccably clean suite had a long balcony with sun shade and furniture outside and a separate sitting room inside. The lounge is exquisitely furnished and decorated with murals and baby grand piano that was often played....a nonpareil location in which to enjoy a cocktail. We spent "Holiday Inn" money for a 4-star hotel.
