I was traveling with my 11 year old son and we really enjoyed our stay at the Napoleon in Rome. The hotel picked us up at the airport free of charge which is a huge savings! I had no problems with the hotel at all. The staff members were nice and helped you with anything you needed. The room we were is what big enough for the both of us and very quiet. The food the hotel served in their restaurant was really good and we ordered room service another night which was convenient. The breakfast was just fine for us...you can't make everyone happy. Also, there was a great little pizza shop about a block away we ate at one night. They had an internet station that you can get on which was really convenient for looking up sights or comparing tours at your leisure.
The HUGE plus to this hotel is that the metro is right outside the front door and it gets you to almost every attraction you wish to see. We bought a tourist pass for 4-5 Euros which had unlimited use for three days. If this is your first trip to Rome or looking for the best way to use your time buy the Rick Steves travel book on Rome. Inside he tells you about all the sitseeing spots and which metro stops to get off on.
We had three nights in Rome and wished our stay was longer!

Other reviewers have mentioned the central location, the access to wonderful hotel meals, the comfy rooms, the welcoming decor of Napoleon Hotel I agree wholeheartetdly. I have to add that our stay was truly memorable because of Franco, the concierge. When we arrived we told him that my husband's back pack went missing - and it held all of his medications for our 2 week trip! Franco immediately took us under his wing. He navigated us quickly through what would have been frustrating negotiations in view of our lack of fluent Italian - and helped us replace his medications within the hour. He was always at the ready to provide a suggestion for a perfect dinner, a short cut to a tourist site or an attentive ear to listen our travel adventures.

Because of Franco - this hotel truly gets a 5 star rating from us!!

My fiance and I stayed at Napoleon for 1 week. We arrived on Friday night. We appreciated being met by your driver which was free of charge. We checked in and were
able to have a meal which was very welcoming. The room was spaceous clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent and lots of choice. The resturant was very cosy. A beautiful bouquet of cream roses was very much appreciated. We picked your hotel from the brochure the Irish College sent me. Our wedding day was 7th July. Our guests arrived on Sunday evening and were transported from the airport to the hotel and again a very welcome meal was enjoyed. we very much appreciated the champagne reception
you laid on when we returned after the wedding and the table was beautifully decorated and the meal was superb. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially Kabir and his staff. It made our wedding very special and we will never forget the wonderful week we spent in the Napoleon. It is also very convenient to the Metro. Thank you all most sincerely and we hope to revisit Rome again and will certainly be staying at Napoleon.
Our guests were most impressed.

The location of the hotel is excellent with a Metro stop right outside the door. Because of the duration of our stay we availed of a free transfer from the airport and our driver was there waiting to pick us up when we arrived. We were able to organise a return transfer to the airport with no difficulty. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful, even allowing us to use the reception printer to print off our baording cards for our return flight home. The variety of food at breakfast is very good. The hotel bar is very nice and the drinks are reasonably priced. We attended a wedding in the hotel and the quality of the food for the wedding reception was fantastic. The hotel is very clean, the rooms were spotless and serviced very efficiently every morning. We had a twin room and my only complaint is that it was a bit small (the double rooms do look to be bigger), but then we were not that bothered as we were out sightseeing all day long and only needed the room to sleep. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and would definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to Rome.

We have just returned from four nights at this hotel. Other reviewers have noted that the location is not in a prime tourist area, and some reviewers have said that they felt unsafe at night, we must agree that the location is not the best, but not once did we feel unsafe, rather that we were living in a working part of the city and not a tourist part. This does have the advantage that you could purchase bottled water from the local shops for 50c/ 500ml rather than the 2.50 euro more typically charged in the tourist areas.

The staff are universally extremely helpful, with particular praise going to the two daytime concierges who helped us organise various trips.

The two rooms we had were clean and attractive, full of old fashioned, but functional furniture. The bathrooms were both modern, possibly recently refurbished. Both rooms were quite spacious, but neither had any view to speak of, as they overlooked a small courtyard, but they were both very quiet.

The breakfast included in the price was not the best we have experienced, but was more than adequate, while the food we had from the bar was very good indeed, and at a reasonable price. We did not try the restaurant in the evening.

The hotel is not particularly close to any tourist areas, but there is a very pleasant 20 minute walk through a park to the Colosseum, and the metro is only 10m away from the hotel entrance and is very cheap to use, when compared with London

overall, a very good experience and thoroughly recommended

Arriving at the Napoleon Hotel is an experience my mom and I would never forget traveling from the U.S. Virgin Islands. From our shuttle service to our last night we enjoyed our stay. The staff are very helpful with assisting in find places to visit, currency exchange, and anything you can think of.

Breakfast every morning gave every guest a good start for the day to tours in Rome.

I will always return to Napoleon Hotel to my friends and family.

My wife , my teenage son and I stayed 5 nights at the Napoleon. The location was great and although the area can seem unattractive at night, we never felt any safety concerns, especially since a car of Carabinieri (national police) was parked every night in front of the park accross from the hotel. We are good walkers so we did not use the nearby metro station and were able to reach all major sites. The hotel is close to Colosseum, Roman Forum; other sites can be reached on foot if you don't mind walking a bit more , for example Villa Borghese, Piazza di Spagna, Vatican.
Hotel staff made our stay really enjoyable and they made you feel welcome and part of the family. The room was small by North American standards, but everything was very clean and the bathroom was a good size. I found out after our stay that the hotel offers beds of different levels of firmness, which can be a good thing, if you have a sensittive back like me. We had a quiet room and had no problem with outdoor or indoor noise, The buffet breakfast is not superlative, but plentiful with enough selection to satisfy most visitors. We dined 3 times at the Hotel restaurant and the food was good and reasonably priced- the staff again very friendly and helpul with the little touches that enhance the occasion: complimentary desert wine and biscotti afte the meal.
This hotel is a great value and the staff really makes a difference. I would return to this hotel if I ever have the opportunity to return to Rome
