After being spoilt for a week on a Silverseas cruise we were ready to be taken to the next level by The St Regis and it didn't disappoint. Lovely guest relations staff (Monika) and check in staff made us very comfortable from the minute we arrived. Complimentary coffee (excellent) in the amazing lounge was offered while they checked on our room availability. We were upgraded to an imperial room which was very large, bright and extremely luxurious with a view over Piazza Della Repubblica. Breakfast service and food was excellent, as was dinner in the Italian restaurant Vivendo, luxurious but understated with very relaxed wait staff and not that expensive! Amazing fine linen bedding which was a first and very nice to sleep in. Extra large beds, B&O TV and all the usual trimmings of a St Regis. Worth every moment.

Room Tip: Rooms ending with 32-40 have views over the plaza and basilica

What a wonderful hotel - from its location, the decor, the spacious room, and friendly, courteous staff. Each room had a name, which made things more personal and "homey" (and it's wonderful to think of such luxury as home). Our room had a large king bed, high ceilings, a comfortable sitting area and a sit-down vanity beside it where I could put on my makeup and watch TV at the same time. The bathroom was as large as the entire hotel room we stayed at near Vatican City the week before - a marble bath tub, a large separate marble shower, double sinks, and high-end soap, shampoo, and hair conditioner - the latter was sorely missed in our other 3 hotels in Italy during this trip. The room was decorated with old world, stately elegance, and looked out on to a quiet, peaceful courtyard.

The hotel is located near the main train station, and it was central enough that we were able to walk everywhere - to the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Campo di Fiori, Piazza Barberini, The Wedding Cake and even to The Vatican!

Overall, a wonderful stay, in a beautiful city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a vanity. Avoid rooms that face the street - very noisy. The staff may try to...

My wife and I spent 3 nights here and can only describe the experience as pure magic. From the moment one arrives all is taken care of. I was short of Euros and didn't have enough cash for the taxi from the airport. The bellhop said he would take care of it and just put it on my room bill.

Our room was decorated warmly, with antiques and classic paintings (see photos). There were plenty of outlets, the lighting was bright and variable, the room temperature perfect and easily adjustable. Even the chandelier in our bedroom was elegant, with a floral crystal design. The housekeeping staff was just marvelous, with a friendly turn-down service in late afternoon.

The beds are sumptuous, with high quality sheets, changed daily and great pillows. The bathroom has an abundance of luxurious towels. One call to reception or the concierge desk and your concern is immediately taken care of.

The hotel is ideally located, within walking distance of many historical attractions and terrific restaurants. You are also a taxi ride or metro ride away from all Rome has to offer.

The St. Regis is also full of history and it wears it well. We look forward to our next visit.

Was booked thru Expedia packages for our 23rd Anniversary. Very good welcome - got upgraded to a deluxe room - and on the first day after returning back to the room, we were surprised with a tray of chocolate covered strawberries (one note - the hotel should just skip the chocolate covering - they ruin the strawberry experience!!) and a bottle of champagne (another note - we both are teetotalers!!) and a personal congratulatory letter - but the thought is what matters and it did give us a very good feel about the welcome!!

Overall a very good hotel - rich and opulent fitting the St. Regis standards. The one and only reason for missing the mark is the apparent issue of having some lingering smoke odor in a non-smoking room each and every day on returning back in the evening. Either there is an issue with the cleaning crew having smoked while cleaning the room OR there is a bigger issue of the AC vents not properly filtering the smoke odor between the floors.

Did not try out their restaurants since there are a lot more variety outside. The concierge desk is very helpful and provided a lot of useful guidance on what to do and where to go. The restaurant recommendation was a hit and a miss - the first one where they recommended a real good restaurant - Life - was a hit. A must visit, but the second one on Locanda Barbireni was a disaster. They were very apologetic when we provided them the feedback. Looks like this restaurant will not get any future guests from St. Regis at least.

Check-in and Check-out was smooth. Taxis are available right outside without any problem. Hotel is very close to the Termini as well as major attractions.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for having selected our hotel to celebrate such a meaningful anniversary. We wish we could have known in advance that you and your wife are teetotalers so that we could have personalized your amenity program based on your preferences, however we are very grateful that you recognized our gesture. We also appreciate your comments about the smoke and we will certainly follow up with our technical team to verify any possible issue with the AC system, as the staff is not entitled to smoke in any area of the hotel. Your feedback on your restaurant experience is also welcomed and, as you mentioned, the concierge team will modify our list of recommended restaurants accordingly.
Once again, thank you for your valuable and constructive comments.
Sincerely yours,
The Hotel Manager

My wife and I stayed six night at the St. Regis in Rome and were 100% impressed by all aspects. The service and the overall atmosphere of "anything is possible" really were second to none.

The rooms were perfect, the location was perfect, and the food was delicious.

Want to share a story that stands out to this day amongst all of the travel I've done in my life. It was a Wednesday, and my wife and I noticed that their old wine cellar that sits across from the restaurant. I went to the concierge and asked if we could check out the wine cellar just to see it as an experience. The concierge called the restaurant manager and he joined in on the conversation. He asked us what time we would want to see the wine cellar and we set a time for 7:00 PM. At 7:00 when we arrived, there were candles all lit up leading down the winding staircase, and at the bottom was a table for two with snacks like cheese and meats, and the restaurant manager was waiting. He spent 2+ hours telling us about the history (which was amazing in itself) and pouring various glasses of wine for us (and sharing their stories as well). He would even pull unopened bottles off the shelves for all to drink.

After the two hour wine tasting we went up to the restaurant where there was a table waiting for us and dined for another two hours on some amazing dishes that were once again paired with the wines.

I was just astounded that they would go this far for an ananymous young couple (late 20's) really on a whim. I would love to do this again but I fear it couldn't be recreated.

Please check this property out. If you are on the fence, this is the right choice!

We arrived in the mid of morning and was directed to sit in the lobby waiting for room. Waited for 30 mins w/o any word, my husband decided to go to front desk and asked and was told the room was not ready until early afternoon ( but why no one notified us and just let us sitting in the lobby for 30 mins!).
The room is big and comfortable. You can get free wifi in the lobby if you don't want to pay for internet access at your room.
Location is good, close to subway and "Termini".

Dear Guests,
We are so sorry for your disappointing check-in experience; it certainly does not reflect our usual level of service. We always try to limit the waiting time of our Guests, even if they arrive early in the morning and to assist them by either arranging tours, if they are not too tired or by offering a comfortable sitting area with drinks and/or snacks accompanied by general information about the city. We are relieved that, at least, you enjoyed the comfort of your accommodation and the free of charge internet connection in the public areas.
We look forward to welcoming you back in order to take good care of you from the very first moment you walk through the entrance doors.
Sincerely yours,
The Hotel Manager

My stay at ST Regis was with a opera tour. Walking into the lobby was an experience!! Elegance, beautiful Surroundings. One can just sit in the lobby and Visually enjoy it all.
The rooms are beautiful. Bathrooms large , with marble surroundings.
Their breakfast buffet was as elegant as the area you were seated at. Anything one could want was there for you. The table linens and tableware was also beautiful. As you sat you could look over the balcony or find a quiet area to dine.
I so recommend this hotel while in Rome.

Dear Ms.Patty,
Thank you for highlighting the ambience and décor of the St. Regis hotel; a unique palace, designed by the creative flair of César Ritz and inaugurated in 1894. Its austere façade conceals sumptuous interiors and a perfect mix of antiques and contemporary pieces of art. The design of its original grand hall, is admired by guests and visitors and starting a new day with a breakfast on its balcony cannot but be a memorable experience for the quality and variety of the buffet, for the dedicated service, for the discreet and elegant atmosphere.
Your recommendation is truly appreciated and we hope to have soon the pleasure of your return visit.
Kind regards,
The Hotel Manager
