When the taxi driver from the airport had to call his base to confirm the hotel location I was a bit apprehensive of what was in store. However the St. Regis was formerly the Grand and even though it changed names I'm told in 1999 everyone in the city still refers to it as the Grand.
A real old world grand hotel, with the first working hotel lift in the city, wide corridors, high ceilings and a central location.
Front Office and Concierge were both consistently affable and helpful, completely lived up to the St. Regis experience.
