“Beautiful Weekend in Rome”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

We have stayed at the St. Regis before and obviously came back for another wonderful trip. This was our 35th wedding anniversary and the Hotel made it special for us. We had a nice room and upon arriving the Butler delivered beautiful roses to our room. When we returned after a superb dinner recommended by the concierge we were delighted to find a delicious late night dessert. The breakfast buffet in the morning is hearty, beautifully presented and service top notch. We will definitely come back when we return next year. It is a well appointed Hotel that has great service and superb staff!

Room Tip: YOu won't be disappointed!

We walked around the place and thought the public spaces, gym, and spa looked lovely. The restaurant served a fabulous buffet breakfast (omelette man, large variety of fruits, ham, juices, cheese, bread, even an attempt at congee). While we have been told before that we've been upgraded, we usually don't believe it once we're in the room, but because of Amex and Starwood promotions, we really were. Check out the photos. Our room was large, grand, and quiet. It was very comfortable and well stocked. Prior to our arrival, I was in constant contact with the concierge department booking Galleria Bourghese and various restaurants. Overall, they did a great job (very little lost in translation). The bar is small, attractive, very quiet and turns out good cocktails. On the night we stopped in for a couple of drinks, there was one other person there. Unfortunately, he was totally plastered and a real nuisance.

Just stayed for three nights at the St. Regis and can't say enough great things about this hotel. Loved the location--close enough to get to everything but away from the maddening crowds. The service is excellent--from the reception desk, to the maid service, the concierge, and the restaurant. The morning breakfast buffet was wonderful--many choices and elegantly presented. The dining room staff was terrific. Spa was great. Our room was lovely, not a great view, but spacious and luxurious. Free wi-fi internet for Delta Platinum medalliion members. The bed was a typical Westin heavenly bed--and after long days of walking and touring--a welcome respite. I just can't say enough great things about this hotel--it is one of the best hotels I have every stayed at. You will not be disappointed by anything at this hotel--it is definitely worth the price!

We selected the St Regis for a luxury end to an exhausting trip through Eastern Europe and Turkey and, for something extra, booked a "Deluxe Room". When we checked in we were taken to a dark, somewhat shabby room at the rear of the hotel through a labrynth of confusing corridors. To their credit, when we expressed our disappointment, the reception staff offered to show us three alternate rooms, even though the hotel was supposedly booked out on the night. We eventually selected a lower grade "Superior Room" which was a vast improvement on the original and looked more like the hotel's promotional photos for a "Superior Room". Imagine our delight when, after settling in, the desk clerk phoned and confirmed a refund of the additional cost of the "Superior Room" PLUS free breakfast for the two days of our stay. These people really know how to look after their guests. The St Regist is an old but elegant building and the rooms are somewhat restricted by its age and available space but it is a true experience to stay there. The buffet breakfast is outstanding and if you don't mind a shot walk there are some excellent restaurants nearby.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing your impressions with all of us.
Things may sometimes go wrong, but we are delighted that you have recognized the efforts of the entire team to correct the situation and ensure you could enjoy a comfortable stay. You are right, there is no better way to start a new day than a breakfast experience at Le Grand Bar, with its rich buffet and dedicated service in a unique environment.
Grazie!

We received excellent service during our stay and the hotel is lovely and convenient. However, it has no views. The Moses fountain is to the side and the Rivers fountain is a block away.

Other nits included no English muffin or bagel for room service breakfast and the toilet paper holder design does not do a good job of holding the paper in place. Lastly, could not get both shower heads on at the same time.

Everything else was perfect! They even cashed my AMEX Travelers checks at the desk for me.

Room Tip: Base your room selection on the amenities available for the different levels. Given the limited vie...

Dear Guest,
It is a pleasure hearing that you overall enjoyed a lovely stay and excellent service.
We will review your comments with all the team, since we always appreciate constructive criticism and we will work with the F&B staff to ensure that English muffins and/or bagel are introduced in the in-room dining breakfast so that you may enjoy them on your next visit to Rome.
With best regards,

This review is based on our stay for our honeymoon on 26 September. It is interesting reading some of the prior reviews. When I read some, I wonder about some of the types of people staying in this hotel. For us, this hotel was perfect. I love the charm and character constantly awakened in this hotel. We stayed in the Imperial Room. It did, in fact come with our personal Butler. And he was great. Just one night we stayed there, and you would have thought by his demeanor we were staying in the Royal Suite for a month and tipped him a thousand dollars! The service was a 10 in every aspect, from the moment we were greeted at the entrance to the moment they helped take our luggage for us to the taxi upon departure. The room itself was very spacious (especially considering it was not a suite), very clean, functional, made sense, eloquent, and hit all the checks in the box even to the detail of being able to use the American plug 110V with a simple switch from 220 - 110 in the bathroom. The bed was as comfortable as I had read about in prior reviews. And I highly recommend just once to treat yourself to dinner at their restaurant Vivendo. It was an amazing experience for us. They even made a nice cake and brought it out with sparklers inside for us because they remembered this occasion for us was our honeymoon. I just can't say enough good things about the Hotel St Regis. I mean, if John Jacob Astor IV built it and then later perished on the Titanic, it's worth it for the history lesson.

Room Tip: Stay in the Imperial Room at a minimum.

Spent our last 2 nights of an Italian vacation here. What a lovely hotel (if you don't mind over the top decor - marble, gold, oil paintings, curtain swags etc). Beautiful common areas and our deluxe room (we upgraded) was comfortable and inviting. Fantastic bed and linen; great bathroom. But it really is all about the service and they go where they need to with that - always helpful and friendly, and did I mention that you can call for an expresso or cappuccino from the Butler service whenever you want? Yup, a butler. I did not want to leave... ever.

Room Tip: If you are offered and upgrade by email before your visit, take it!
