Stayed there 5 nights in an upgraded suite. The rooms were beautiful, the bed was comfortable, the staff was very nice and they had a great morning buffet.
However, you're going to walk quite a ways to get to any dining or nightlife or historical sites. That's the only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating. I just don't like taking a 5 - 30 minute taxi ride everywhere. You can walk, but when it's hot, who wants a 15 - 30 minute walk to get to a restaurant. If you take a taxi anywhere you go, this is your hotel in Rome.

Dear Guest,
We are so pleased that you appreciated your room, the comfort of your bed and the courteous attitude of our staff!
On the other hand, we regret that the hotel location did not meet with your expectations. Allow us to mention that there is a variety of restaurants (and interesting sites) just walking distance and it is our hope that we will have a chance to indicate the best ones to you on your next visit to Rome.
Kind regards,

I'm often critical of some of the inconsistencies in St. Regis' product around the world, however the St. Regis Rome does not disappoint. The hotel is an old palace (or makes you believe it was an old palace) and the decor is italian blue blood, but not over-the-top. I stayed in both the standard room and a suite with a living room. I loved the hardwood floors in each and the beautiful window treatments (and views)! The standard room is a little small, but not bad by european standards. The suite is a nice treat with upgraded Bang & Olufsen electronics. The staff is close to perfect - friendly, respectful yet not uncomfortably formal, and well-coordinated. I've stayed at the Westin Excelsior in the past, Starwood's other luxury property in the city, and this was a thousand times better. (My rating of very good vs. excellent is due to the spa being a little less impressive than other St. Regis spas/fitness facilities - Mexico City, San Francisco, Aspen are all significantly better.)

By all means if you have the funds then spoil yourself in Rome at this historic and luxurious style hotel. We ended our European trip in Rome for two days and booked an extremely good value package with Expedia. As expected the rooms are clean and the sleep great. The staff demonstrated topnotch hospitality. This was a good location to explore Rome. Fantastic morning buffet and extraordinary kind concierge staff.

Where does one start! Simply just timeless & effortless. This was our second time back to St.Regis and once again just amazing in all aspects. From greetings at the door upon arrival to being taken to our room. Easy check in process. Very warm welcome from all the staff at concierge and doormen. Being greeted once again by Monica who remembered us from our last trip was just perfection and added a personal touch. We were given a beautiful room, the imperial which overlooked piazza republica. Upon arrival to our room awaiting was champagne & fruit. Later in the evening beautiful selection of cakes and chocolates. All things that make being a SPG member great. Breakfast one of the best and great omelettes made by the chefs. To be greeted each morning by Sonia also a lovely touch to our day. An unbelievable and opulent stay once again and I look forward to being a guest at St.Regis Rome again. Thank you Mr Falcone to you and your staff and all the special touches which added to our experience.

Room Tip: Corner suites a little bigger. Imperial rooms are great size.

My husband & I stayed here June 23, 2014 before we headed back home to the US. We stayed here using our Starwood points. We checked in around 9:45 am & the room wasn't ready. We waited in the lobby and at 10:00 am the nice front desk attendant said the room would be ready at 11:00 am. That was perfect since we had tickets to the Vatican at 11:30. After walking around & waiting 11:00 came & went, room still not ready. Then at 11:20 when the room wasn't ready because they couldn't find anyone from housekeeping to check to see if was ready we had to leave. Now, I know she was doing us a favor by getting us the room early, but it was disappointing to have to take some of our belongings with us to the Vatican. Yes they did hold our large luggage pieces, but just a slight inconvenience. When we arrived back at the hotel there was numerous security guards, tactical officers, & a swarm of people behind barricades. We didn't know what was going on, because it didn't look like this a few hours earlier. Turns out, the Rolling Stones had stayed in the hotel & were about to leave. They disabled one of the elevators so it was tough to try & get to out room. We waited until after they left & everything went back to normal. The room was very nice, but had a weird smell. Not sure what it was but it was not unbearable. The bed was SUPER comfortable, the air condition was one the best I have ever dealt with, & the bathroom was great. Overall, the hotel is very elegant and sophisticated. This is a VERY upscale hotel & I would probably stay here again if given the opportunity. It is in a great location!! I need to give a big thanks to the woman at the concierge desk (I didn't get he name) she was extremely helpful and made us dinner reservations at a wonderful restaurant not too far from the hotel. Thanks for all your help!! I would recommend staying here if in Rome. Happy Traveling!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for sharing the details of your visit to The St. Regis Rome on TripAdvisor.
First of all, we are sorry for not having been able to better assit you with your early check-in; as you mentioned the hotel was very busy upon your arrival and no ready accommodations were available. On the other hand, we are glad that the discomfort you felt did not prevent you to enjoy your stay, your accommodation and the luxury of our hotel.
Furthermore, in the name of Giorgia, the lady concierge, we thank you for your nice and rewarding comment.
All the best from Rome and we look forward to your next visit to Rome!
