On several occasions I have tried to stay at the Albergo Cesari and could not get reservations.
This time, returning from a cruise and staying in Rome independently for 4 nights, I was able to stay there. This was my husband's first trip to Europe and this lovely boutique hotel made it a special experience. We stayed here the first week of Nov 2013
Cesari is a charming 48 room hotel, typically European in terms of size of rooms. It has a proud history having being licensed since 1787 and is handed down through generations. You can actually feel the pride they have in this.
It has a lovely roof top lounge and restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast each morning - in beautiful sunshine 18 degrees weather.
Breakfast is buffet style, with a quality variety of cheeses, smoked and cured meat cuts, variety of breads and pastries, variety of fruits, variety of juices and coffee. At least 4 people were working and serving during breakfast - and it seemed like a 2:1 ratio .. Staff, curteous, responsive, and prompt.
The roof top also acts a lounge in the late afternoon and evening for cozy drinks...but we never had the chance to do that - with all the touring we did.
Location is amazing - whichever way your turn out of the hotel, you end up in an attraction area, Trevi Fountain, or the Pantheon.. aside from the fact it is placed in the center of one.

My initial communication with the hotel was with Jan. Not only did he respond to my inquiries about availability and price etc but also helped in arranging transportation from the port to the hotel and later to the airport. The front desk staff is attentive, helpful with direction, advice, suggestions and simple welcoming comments making you feel at home.

The rooms are in general similiar to European style chambers, although we were particularly fortunate to have a larger size room (my husband is now spoilt !) Important to note - clean rooms, clean bathroom (small shower stall- but standard for Europe), great mattress.

We had an excellent stay here, and although I have been to Rome 4 times before.. this trip had a special feel to it. Albergo Cesari is my new home in Rome.

Steps from the Trevi Fountain and the Parthenon this hotel has a very good location.

They have a great rooftop breakfast, and at night it is lovely the end the evening with a drink there. The rooms were fine, as were the staff. If you are going to Rome you should consider the hotel.

Dear Guest,
We are very pleased to know that you enjoy at our hotel and you appreciated our location in the historical centre of Rome, 5 minutes walking from the Pantheon, with its Royal graves, and Trevi fountain. But the hotel is also near to all the most important fashion streets like Via Condotti, Via Frattina and Via Veneto – the “dolce vita” way-.
Ends a good and rich day at the roof top of the Albergo Cesàri, drinking a cocktail, it is a privilege. The same privilege you have every morning, during your delicious breakfast always at the rooftop.
Book your rooms directly to our official webpage and our English speaking Staff will be very pleased to help you.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again at our hotel.

This hotel is located in the center of Rome within walking distance to several historic landmarks. Trevi Fountain is close by, so too the Pantheon, walking to the metro is a lot further but not out of the way, and there's some excellent restaurants around too. The facilities were satisfactory and as you're out travelling, you just need a clean room with a roof over your head and a nice hot shower. The concierge were excellent and a very helpful. One guy, Tommas, in particular was very helpful from the moment I booked in presenting me with a large map and drawing out various walking routes to different places. Rome is very walkable and I took up his suggestions and discovered plenty. The other concierge guy also suggested an excellent place for pizza and a bakery where I could get cannoli. The wifi was pretty strong, even from my room on the 5th floor. I also stopped by for breakfast on the terrace where there was a lovely spread and I particularly enjoyed the cold meats and cheese selection.

Dear Shaun,
We have much appreciated your details as a result of a special experience. Thanks a lot for your kind review.
The central location within a very wide pedestrian area is a chance to make own walking exploring visits.
When our Receptionists can take their time by providing details about historical monuments all around us, is because they wish to be as a “shepherd” for our visitors (… but if they can, because sometimes our small lobby can be very very busy…).
The pleasure of discovering is also into the traditional food you have tasted while choosing a pizzeria, a Taverna, an Osteria, a bakery as well a superb gelato or fantastic cannoli ! And hopefully you have been able to avoid fake food-experiences just taking useful suggestions from our Reception Staff.
We always wish to meet our Customer’s needs: amenities in all rooms, free wi-fi, the atmosphere on our roof-top “la Terrazza del Cesàri” at breakfast and for a drink at night, can be a result of a pleasant Stay in Albergo Cesàri and for this reason we hope to meet you once again with us. For your next stay at The Cesàri, don't forget to visit our official website where you can find many opportunities and our special offers.

Just came back from a 5 night stay at Algergo Cesari Hotel. Loved every minute of it! Let's start with the location...had some of the best restaurants right out our door. The hotel is small, which alot of Hotels in Italy are, but had everything we needed to make our stay wonderful. The room was spacious enough, clean and comfy. The hotel staff were exceptional. They helped us with everything. Took the time to explain and map out things for us. The hotel's complimentary breakfast was perfect too. Enough of a varity of foods to satify us, for sure. Even made some cheese, tomato and salami sandwiches for the road each morning, which really came in handy, since you're on the go the whole day, and sometimes it's just not convienent to stop and eat, but we had our breakfast sandwiches to hold us over. Overall, I can't say enough about this hotel. I would most definately stay here again. Location was perfect. Just 2 blocks to the Pantheone, Trevi Fountian, and Piazza Venzia. We could walk to everything. .

Dear Guest,
Thanks a lot for write a review as soon as you arrive at home: surely we impress you!
It is a great pleasure to know how you love our hotel, its location just in the centre of Rome, not far away from the place where the “holy Inquisition” was (a little room located inside the Biblioteca Casanatense)… just for an example!
Just around us a lot of restaurants, trattorie, cafés and places where you can taste what you want.
The Albergo Cesàri is small, but big enough to satisfy your desire. You should choice between standard or classic room, smoking or non-smoking rooms and their size is planned to accommodate the correct number of people: single room is little than a double one! In all our rooms there is a private bathroom with a complimentary amenities.
A particular mention is due to “La terrazza del Cesàri” that is a relaxing island, where to have a morning buffet breakfast or a evening drink, as you can see on our official webpage.
Our English speaking Staff aim for realize Guests’ dreams and they are very happy to give information to our Customares about places, museums, exhibitions and events in Rome.
The Staff and I are looking forward to seeing you again at the Albergo Cesàri.

there is a great rooftop with view of the city for breakfast and evening drinks. Very central location within a short walk from the major central sites. My room was basic but fine, had blackout shutters. The bathroom shower stall is very narrow.

Dear Guest,
We would like to thank you very much for your kind review.
We like the adjective you use for our rooftop: amazing…! It is surely a place that breaks the heart, with its sunny terrace and beautiful view on Roman roof tops, the “timpano” of Saint Ignazio Church, the Statue of Saint Paul on the top of Colomn in Piazza Colonna and the little pink tower where Galileo verified his thesis… Here, in the morning, you have the lucky to taste a good buffet breakfast and in the evening to have a drink admiring the stars.
The Albergo Cesàri is just in a little street next to the Tempio di Adriano, in a midway between the Pantheon and Trevi fountain and, as you wrote, in a short walk from tha major central sites.
The hotel has two type of rooms classic and standard (the one you mentioned as basic). First ones have “old style furniture” and special amenities in the bathroom. Both type offer to all our Guests comfortable bed, tea/coffe making facilities replenished every day, one bottle of mineral water in room on arrival, a minibar, a safe box and air conditioning. All rooms have private bathroom, some of them have only shower, like single ones, but large enough for a comfortable and pleasant shower.
We wait in our official website for your next stay with us. There you will find many opportunities for special offers.

A brilliant centrally located hotel - close to the main attractions. Very friendly and helpful staff - proactively suggested walking routes to explore the city to see sights and get the best views of the city. Helpful suggesting the best way to get to what you want to see too. Comfortable room and facilities. A good choice for breakfast (inc fresh fruit) and an excellent roof terrace on which to eat it. By the nature of its central location it can be a bit noisy late evening but the room had air-conditioning so you could keep your window closed at night. Look forward to returning for another city break!

Dear Ms Rachael,
We are very pleased to read review like yours, so accurate in description of our hotel.
Our location is really great, as if you like to walk it is easy to reach all the most important place without using taxis or bus. And walking it is possible to discover particular spots of the Eternal City, also suggested by one of our Receptionists who loves more to pass all their knowledge to our Guests.
The 3 stars Albergo Cesàri has two type of rooms – standard and classic – that are different each other in size. All our rooms have air-conditioning, a complimentary coffee/tea maker, one bottle of mineral water on arrival and the private bathroom may have the shower and/or bathtub. The second floor is the only one for smoker while the other 3 floors are all non-smoking. On our official webpage, there are a lot of photos.
You are right when you write “by the nature of its central location it can be a bit noisy”: it is not possible to avoid it, but if you close the windows…
Our roof terrace is a special place where have a good and rich buffet breakfast in the morning from 7.00am until 10.30am. You can find all you like: espresso/american coffee, cappuccino, fruit juice, various taste of tea, fresh fruit, salad fruit, muesli, yogurt, cheeses, parmigiano, ham, different kind of bread, pizza, marmelade, jams, honey, cakes and so on. In the evening, you can take a drink regarding Roman roof tops.
With very pleasure we wait at our hotel, very soon. For your next stay please visit our official website whre you will find our best proposals for special offers.

Dear Ms Karen,
Thanks a lot for your lovely review!
The Albergo Cesàri is very old, as the original licence is dated 1787: it is just near the entrance door or you can see that in our official web site. The palace that hosts the hotel was built around 1600 and it is just in the centre of Rome, near to Montecitorio (the seat of Parliament), the Pantheon (where Raffaello Sanzio lies) and the Trevi fountain so famous for Fellini’s film.
Every morning from 7.00am to 10.30am the roof top welcome you with its rich buffet breakfast: cappuccino, coffee, tea, fruit juice, yogourt, two different type of homemade cakes, biscuits, brioches, 3 different type of cheeses, parmigiano, hams, eggs, 3 different type of bread, pizza, fresh fruit, salad fruit) and in the evening for a relaxing drink. November is the month of “Cointreau Fizz” cocktail!
The Staff is selected to ensure our Guests’ enjoyment, a quiet stay and cleanness. A lot of competitors envy us for our Receptionists and all the Staff, very professional people who live and know Rome very well and try to send their knowledge.
We do hope to welcome you again in the next future and we invite you to visit our official website for our special offers.
