I can't rate this hotel highly enough. I read other TA reviews before booking and looked around to find the best deal and availability. Albergo Cesari were exceptionally helpful from the very start. I had booked a standard room initially as this was the only type of room available on the site I used to book, but as soon as I contacted the hotel to ask for an upgrade they were very happy to help and offered an upgrade to a "Classic" room which was bigger and with a far nicer view. The staff were also exceptionally helpful with any other requests. The room was very clean and comfortable. Air conditioning very helpful in Italian summer heat. WiFi was reliable. Room windows have sound-proofing so noise from the restaurants and people below wasn't an issue.

The location is perfect, honestly perfect. Everything in Roma is walkable from here, even the Vatican. The Pantheon is 5 minutes walk away.
The rooftop terrace is ideal for breakfast in the mornings and aperitivi in the evenings. We had Prosecco up on the roof terrace the first evening we arrived. During our stay, the staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. On our checking out we were able to leave bags safely with the hotel for the day and able to collect them ready for our evening flight. We took advantage of the transfer service to the airport on the way back. Ideal hotel in one of my favourite cities in the world.

The only recommendation I could make is that you should take up the offer of transfers from the airport as the shuttles that run from Ciampino and Fiumcino whilst frequent and useful, do take quite a long route and drop you in the middle of the city. Leaving you to carry bags through the streets of Rome. Not so nice if you have heavy bags.

Room Tip: Classic rooms are the best upgrade and are more spacious and generally have better views.

Dear Erik S,
We are very happy you loved your 3 nights stay with us.
The 3 stars Albergo Cesàri is hosted in an historical building, just in the heart of Rome near Piazza Colonna, with its marble Column of Marcus Aurelius and next to the Church of Saint Ignazio with its beautiful ceiling.
Its terrace on the 5th floor overlooking Piazza di Pietra (Piazza of Stone) and every morning is the relaxing place where have a rich buffet breakfast. Magical atmosphere in the evening, when the terrace becames a trendy rooftop!
Thanks for your compliments to Tommaso, one of our Receptionists, who gives assistance and suggestions for any issue. One of our goal is to satisfy all Guests need and we suppose that Tommaso is successful in give you assistance.
We hope to welcome you very soon: book one of our special offer in our official website.

We arrived in the evening and used the chauffeur airport pick up service arranged by the hotel, which I would highly recommend. We stayed 6 nights in a twin room, which was very clean and comfortable, rooms are small but that is standard in Rome. There was still plenty of room for two females sharing. Complimentary Wi-Fi in the room and throughout the hotel worked really well.

Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a great start to each day, lots of tasty fresh produce to choose from, great coffee and also a nice spot for pre-dinner drinks.

What made our stay was the hotel staff, they are fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. You also can’t beat the location with lots of places to eat and drink close by, which are open until late. Pantheon and Trevi Fountain are only a couple of minutes away, we walked everywhere but there is a bus stop around the corner where you can catch buses to the Vatican, bus tickets sold at the reception desk. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hopefully be back there myself in the near future. To all the staff, grazie mille!!

Dear LazeandGraze,
Thanks a lot for your beautiful review about our hotel.
A 6 nights stay is a good lenght of time to discover Rome and its sites. Booking through our official website there is a special offer for minimum stay of 6 nights… I hope you used it!
Surely you appreciated the Company we used for the pick up services, not less appreciated all services that the Albergo Cesàri offer to all our Guests, such as free Wi-Fi in room and throughout the hotel, one bottle of mineral water in room on arrival and tea/coffee making facilities free of charge always in room.
…and our multilingual Staff, so professional, friendly and helpfull. No problem for them, starting from cleanliness of the room to wait on the delicious, fresh and rich buffet breakfast and mix a great cocktail in the evening. Our Receptionists are always at your disposal for any other query: put them to the test!
Great location is another secret of our success. Therefore, the hotel is located just in the midway between the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain, 10 minutes walking to Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona.
The staff and I hope to have the pleasure to welcome you very soon.

We have stayed at Albergo Cesari three times, and would never consider another option. The location is perfect, the staff is knowledgable and friendly, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. We have had "standard" rooms, so don't know what the upscale rooms are like. The standard rooms are not luxurious, but quite clean and comfortable. Bathroom fixtures, for example, are modern and impeccable, and the beds very comfortable. And the rooftop terrace, with a marvelous view of the neighborhood, maks this a precious experience. Breakfast (a very good one) is served there. In the evening, it functions as a cocktail bar, again with a fabulous view. One can easily walk from the hotel to most of Rome's top sights. And the price is reasonable. I don't see how one could make a better choice.

We stayd at Albergo Cesari for 2 nights in July 2014. We had a very pleasant stay. The staff is very service minded, professional and friendly. The location is perfect and the roof terrace is really nice. Yes, it is an old hotel, but nice and clean and with a good atmosphere and the room was fine. Very quiet place as well in the middle of Rome. We highly recommend Albergo Cesari.

Hi

This is a family run hotel that has been in existence since 1787 !!! The Hotel is small and so are the rooms , but it is amazing to stay at a place that has been around for so long. The interiors of the hotel are well maintained, while reflecting the heritage. It sure is different from the big chain hotels - it took me a lil while to get used to the twists and turns in the ancient staircase ! The Roof garden where breakfast is served is indeed picturesque ! The service is really helpful , and gives you a homely feeling.

The location of this hotel about 5 min walk from the Pantheon means it is right in one of the busiest tourist localities, well populated even late at night. A lot of road-side Cafe restaurants provide a multitude of cuisines nearby. The Trevis fountain with Bernini sculpture is also walkable easily . In fact , i walked all the way to the Vatican , St. Peters Basilica from there . It is an hour's walk one way , but easily done along the river bank.

ciao
R
