“Great service”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

My mom and aunt went to Rome for the weekend. Unfortunately for me, this is the weekend of Mothersday. I asked the hotel to make an extra effort for a surprise breakfast in their room on Mothersday.
The staff told me that this wasn't going to be any problem, and I didn't have to pay additional costs. Great service, very polite!

Close to the subway station. It was like this hotel was built a week before we got there. Everything looked so new and the hotel was very nicely designed. Staff was friendly and breakfast was delicious and varied. A perfect stay for a beautiful trip to Rome!

We stayed at Hotel Galileo from Monday to Friday in room 305, we got the Ryanair bus from the airport and arrived a stones throw away from the hotel, we followed directions given to us from the bus dispatcher who was very helpful, with this help we came across the hotel within minutes walking down to the front of the hotel it felt like we was walking into a car park, but the front door soon appears on the left. The young lady on reception was very friendly and welcoming, check in was nice and swift, we went to our room in the worlds slowest lift but we were on holiday so no rush! First look at the room reveals a nice sized room and bed, a spotlessly clean bathroom. Your key provides the electricity in the room which I do not blame the hotel for doing but it was a pain as it kept switching its self off and was a pain to actually get on!

We then started to explore Rome we asked for a map on reception and she pointed out where we were etc, we firstly thought that we were miles away from everything but we couldn't have been more wrong, we walked everywhere, the hotel was in a safe location with restaurants, shops and a supermarket all close by. We was offered a free transfer to there restaurant but reading bad reviews on TA we didn't bother.

The beds felt rock hard but they wasn't to bad, the room was very hot, we turned the radiator off straight away and had the air con most of the time? the rooms only had one English Channel but is that the end of the world? The worst thing about this hotel was the noises from other guest, the walls must have been thin but other guest were way to loud!

Breakfast was a continental which was very good loads of fruit, ham, cheese, eggs, yogurt, toast, cereals and a selection of pastries. Very happy and friend lady who served in the breakfast room.

Checkout was very pain free. In conclusion I would happily recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 305 was a very nice and big.

Stayed in Hotel Galileo, Rome for three nights. The shuttle bus from the airport dropped us very close to the hotel at 9.30pm but it was very hard to find the hotel as it is up a small alleyway and isn't very well sign posted from the road. On arrival we were offered a courtesy lift to and from a restaurant associated with the hotel, being tired and hungry we accepted the offer. The driver was v pleasant and friendly but the food was v expensive and disappointing - it was the worst meal we had while in Rome, so we don't advise anyone to accept the same offer - there are much nicer restaurants v close to the hotel.

We were given Room 102 and it was v clean and comfortable. The only fault it has was its position - it is at the top off the stairs, where the lift opens and the breakfast room is accessed - so noise levels can be a problem. Other than that the room was fine with a very nice bathroom and strong shower. The room was serviced every morning and the women in the dining room were very friendly. The breakfast was nice, variety of tinned fruits, cheese and hams, yogurts, cereals, bread, juices and plenty of tea and coffee.

There was a very friendly girl on reception the first two mornings we were there and nothing was too much trouble. Her friendliness was very much appreciated.

The Hotel Galileo is very close to the Termini Station but we walked every where and didn't use public transport apart from a hop on hop off bus for the first day to get our bearings.

So in summary the Hotel Galileo was a great base to explore Rome from. We were v comfortable and well looked after. Pity there was no bar and Room 102, while very nice, can be noisy.

A couple of us stayed for 3 nights in February during the Scotland v Italy rugby, the hotel is located 5 mins from the main railway and bus station with a good 30min walk to the majority of the sights that you will want to see.
Service was great but the rooms left a lot to be desired (space mainly) I was informed by my booking agent that we had been given room upgrades and when you're told this you have some expectations as what you're getting. On this occasion I could only think if this is a superior room I am very relieved that I got the upgrade.
Both rooms were clean and tidy and you could have swung a cat in mine but you would have been arrested for animal cruelty as it would have hit every wall in the room(even if was a very small cat). The second room however was a different matter, if you wanted to swing a cat and the cat was in the room prior to you getting there you would have had to wait until it came out before you could get in.
I will be going back to Rome but I doubt that I would stay here again due too it's location and room sizes.
There is a huge choice of accommodation in Rome especially out with the main holiday season.

Hotel 3 star was very clean & rooms seem to have been refurbished recently. Shower rooms were of a high standard, very powerful jets on shower!
Booked a twin room, ended up in a triple, would have preferred a twin room with a small sitting area, as no easy chairs for relaxing after a hard day sightseeing!
Main downside and reason for not giving a 5 was that there was nowhere in the hotel to get a coffee or drink & relax! Would of appreciated tea/coffee making facilities in room as no bar area!
Hotel not far from Termini station, with all the hop-on hop-off buses.
Staff were all very friendly.

I was not expecting much for the price we paid but it was a surprise that a room was very clean, including the bathroom, also excellent breakfast. The hotel stuff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The only problem was a noise from the hall, room doors are not great.
