“Very nice Rome Hotel”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

My wife and I reviewed many hotels in Rome before deciding on the BW Hotel Canada. We stayed 2 nights before our cruise. We enjoyed the charm, decor, area and ambiance of the hotel. The staff were professional, cordial, spoke english and answered our many questions about Rome travel and siteseeing. Termini station a 5 minute walk. Breakfast was excellent. WiFi was very sporatic in the rooms. Limited bellhop service. If you are concerned about quality accommodations with an intimate atmosphere, this is your hotel.

Room Tip: Lower floors are preferred, look online to choose your room. They were as good as they looked.

Our first impressions were Wow and wow! Starting with the little old elevator with manually closing doors, then the rooms which are large with big ensuite, have lots of character and are spotlessly clean. Our room had a big 4-poster bed while our children had a bath tub in their ensuite and all the fittings are in keeping with the Italian theme. The windows open for ventilation. You have to request in room tea/coffee making kit. No fridge. Overall very nice. Breakfast was a full buffet with a huge range and friendly staff. The location is convenient to the Termini and metro station and we actually walked to all the attractions from here. I would stay here again. I do have a few minor service complaints, firstly I requested gluten-free bread when I booked and was very excited to be told on arrival that there would be a basket of gluten-free croissants for me at breakfast. Not so. I was given some pathetic pre-packaged old cakes. Not even bread. Or rice crackers. When I asked where my croissants were I was told that the packaged cakes was the only thing available. When I queried the desk manager he denied promising me croissants. I can't believe they couldn't even manage to get some plain fresh gluten free bread. Also, there are lots of places to eat in the area, don't ask the desk because it is pretty clear he sends everyone to the same place which we found was relatively expensive for what you got.

I am now in the process of updating myself with overdue reviews and as such this one is about a stay 20months ago...
Booked through the bestwestern.it hotel site and somehow i had the impression that this hotel was privately owned and as such no longer part of the famous hotel chain. Nevertheless it proved a great second choice. By second choice I mean that we have tried several many other hotels for that weekend in mid-March 2012 but due to a rugby final and the Rome marathon almost 95% of the hotels in central Rome were fully booked.
We were not too fond of this hotel's location on such close quarters to the main station but while close enough to walk to/from the station it proved our fears wrong - the street corner and the area is quite nice and not so noisy with only a few places to eat or hang out only drawback being that is quite a long walk from the more popular sites.
The building itself is very nice in typical turn of century fashion and inside and out it is well kept and decorated. The front desk was staffed by senior gentlemen and there was a feel of more grandure throughout the hotel than its name or the category would lead you to believe. The staircase/lift and the public areas all contributed to this feeling.
We booked a superior room and got a corner room on the higher floors with decent views through the smallish windows on 2 sides of the building. Massive room for Rome standards or for any big european city for this matter. I have tried to recall if I have ever seen such a spacious accomodation in a central hotel in this price range. Vintage bathroom with all fittings buried in the tiled walls (unfortunately they started leaking at some point but we took care of it and didn't bother to call maintenance), and nicely decorated room furnishings all properly equipped to modern standard (some lights not working), and quite clean throughout. Had the impression that given the hotel's size and number of rooms it seemed that our room appeared uninhabited for a longer period of time than usual.
The breakfast was decent and service generally prompt and efficient.
There is a limited number of parking places and they can arrange for an airport shuttle service with a luxury car for the price you pay riding on a minivan full of tourists.
Nothing really to dislike about this establishment, it was a perfect choice given the circumstances and one that we would recommend fully.

Room Tip: a superior room is well worth the little extra...

We stayed 2 nights pre-cruise at the Hotel Canada. The property was nicely remodeled and clean. It is a short walk from Termini station and there are many restaurants and bars nearby to suit anyone's personal preferences as well as a convenient supermarket for supplies. The staff was very helpful in providing suggestions for sightseeing and local experiences. We would definitely stay here again when in Rome.

Room Tip: As each room is unique, ask to see yours before unpacking.

The hotel was everything that all the reviews said it would be. Located at a very convenient location from the train station, the rooms were an ample size with beautiful frescoes. Especially loved the breakfast, a wide selection in a nice, cozy breakfast room. Would definitely stay there again when we visit Rome again. If you're a Chinese food buff like us, there's a great money for value Chinese place across the street from the church.

We read lots of review for different hotels before we book a hotel for our Rome vacation. We pick this hotel and it turned out to be as good as reviewed in service, location, breakfast etc. We were satisfied with our stay. Thanks to all the review that helped us pick this hotel.

My husband took me for a 2 night break at The Hotel Canada in Rome, wonderful welcome, very friendly staff. We were up graded when we checked in, lovely room with a sitting room. Nothing was to much trouble, attentive staff, would highly recommend it. The only down side was that
it is situated a distance from the main attractions, but very close to bus,and train station. A very lovely place to spend a special birthday.
