“Had a lovely time.”
Reviewed 29 September 2008

Have just returned from two nights at the White Hotel in Rome. The hotel is in a fantastic location - just a few minutes walk to the Trevi Fountain and the rest of the sights were all walkable. The executive room on the first floor was clean and well equipped with a flat screen tv on the wall, jacuzzi in the bath and Ipod dock so we could have some music whilst we were getting ready to go out! The breakfast buffet was good - it kept us going for most of the day. To be honest, we didn't spend much time in the hotel as we were out enjoying Rome most of the weekend but I would definately stay at this hotel again.

We (family of 3) stayed at the White Hotel for 4 nights at the beginning of July and can't find a bad word to say really. We had a triple room (the third bed being a sofa bed) on the third floor and the bathroom was quite big actually having a bath and shower. However, my parents also stayed at the White and had a twin room and there shower was tiny. Having said that, the Hotel was clean, had everything we needed and was close to everything.

One of my bug bears is rude receptionists. However, this cannot be said of the staff at the White - Peter on reception was a class act, informative, funny and very approachable (even my 6 year old daughter thought he was great). It just made such a pleasant change to be greeted with happy and friendly staff. If we even go back to Rome (and I hope we do) we would definitely stay here again.

As I understand it there have already renovated the first floor rooms and whilst we were there, they were in the process of renovating the second floor and from what we saw, the new rooms looked very nice.

Enjoy.

We arrived on Monday the 21st July and stayed 4nights returning home yesterday!
Fantastic location - perfectly situated 100yds from the Trevi fountain.
Room was large with a seperate sitting room, adjustamatic beds and a large bathroom with a Jucuzzi bath!!! There were 2 plasma screen TVs - one in the bedroom and one in the sitting room along with a docking station for your ipod/ mp3 player!
Breakfast was adequate and included and the adjoining restaurant was welcoming!
Only gripe was that the bar was never open but with everything right on your doorstep it didn't bother us too much.
We walked all over Rome - Vatican was within walking distance but public transport is dead cheap!

  • Liked — Standard of accomodation and jacuzzi bath!!!!!
  • Disliked — Bar was always shut!

The hotel has been updated so it boasts some funky art pieces on white walls and lots of mirrors. Great location - 2 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain. However for the price you pay, you would expect bigger rooms and a bathroom you can move freely in. The room me and my boyfriend stayed in, was cosy and quiet but then again it was facing a grubby looking building. So much for the view!
The hotel concierge was not very helpful when asked about the local restaurants and insisted that we go to the restaurant next door the hotel has a deal with. Determined to find something less "touristy", we found a real gem - probably the best Italian tratoria in that part of Rome. Tritone is situated in Via Dei Maroniti, 1-3-5. It offers an excellent traditional roman cuisine and a great atmosphere. No wonder the place is always packed, but if you hang around for a while, they will find you a table. Very efficient service! The walls adorned with famous faces - Lucy Liu, Paul Hogan aka Crocodile Dundee, to mention just a few. Added bonus - apparently the best ice cream in Rome called Gelateria San Crispino (!) just round the corner walking anti-clockwise from the tratoria. Flavours galore!

Stayed in two side by side "garden rooms" with 2 adult daughters. Rooms were spotless with fabulous flat screen tvs. Breakfast was plentiful from fruit to hot items so much so that we never needed to eat lunch! Location can't be beat. Central to everything, we walked to Trevi ( 2 min), Piazza Spagna ( 5 min), Pantheon, etc. Street itself fun with plenty of places to eat and feels safe and friendly. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. very helpful with all questions and requests. We have already rebooked for summer of 08. Highly recommended.

  • Liked — cleanliness, comfort, safe in room, tv, fabulous breakfast

White Hotel in Rome had a great location. It only cost us 11 Euro to get a taxi there from the main train station.
From the hotel we walked everywhere without having to take an organised tour. We visited the Colosseum, Vatican City, the Pantheon and was only about 100 metres from the Trevi Fountain. We had great joy most evenings just going to the fountain and people watching.
The rooms were small with the bathroom being especially small, we had trouble with the drain in the shower blocking after the water had been on for only about 30 seconds. We complained after our second night the day before we checked out and it was fixed that day. We should have done that to start with.
The lift was out of order for the first 24 hours and we were on the third floor so that added to our exercise.
The room was very clean, the staff especially helpful and the breakfast was excellent. This was one of the few places in Europe that served eggs for breakfast.
Once again the hotel's location was its' best point.

Brilliantly located, smallish hotel in the hub of Rome. Three minute walk to the Trevi Fountain and all the highlights are nearby.
The hotel was clean, and we stayed in a newly fitted out room. Staff where terrific and the whole experience was fantastic.

  • Liked — Location and general hotel amenities.
  • Disliked — No tea making facility in rooms, one computer in reception only for internet use.
