“Great location”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

Location was brilliant - close to Trevi Fountain, so we visited it every day - and bus stops just outside and metro stop "Barberini" a little walk up the street. Breakfast was included and was great start to the day. Rooms refurbished (3rd floor) but shower smallish with shower curtain - OK for us but may be issue if you are larger size. Wifi issue in room, but computer available in lobby lounge. Stayed during a heatwave (July) and airconditioning was great except for one night when it really struggled - and with windows open there is no breeze in Rome, so it was cold showers and wet cloths to help us sleep. Fantastic location to walk and explore Rome.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor rooms had been refurbished.

Dear Girl_from_Gumble,
thank you for your positive feedback about your stay at the Hotel Tritone! We are glad to read that you fully enjoyed our location: as a matter of fact, summer in Rome might be a bit hot...and, being the hotel inside a historical building, sometimes it's a bit tricky to solve technical issues...but we are working on the wifi and the aircon .
We look forward to have you again as our Guests and send you our best regards.

Reviewed 15 July 2013 via mobile

We recently stayed here for two days, and found this to be a very good hotel, although a few minor improvements are needed. The location was perfect, literally two minutes from the Trevi Fountain, central to other tourist attractions, near a Metro station, as well as some magnificent restaurants. The rooms were very clean, although make sure you ask for a modern room, as about half the hotel has been renovated. There is a lift, no need to drag your bags up four flights! Breakfast was good value, and yummy. There are a few tweaks that need to be made, however. It is very irksome for travelers who have selected a hotel with wifi to arrive and find out that it does not work. In my opinion, if you advertise wifi, it had better work! We had booked a room that advertised free wifi, and were surprised when we arrived to find a sign on the reception desk stating the wifi prices. When we inquired, we were told (a little grudgingly) that the wifi in our room was free. We were a little confused, but were given a password. We were nearing the end of our trip, and wanted to get online to check into our airline, as well as contact home, look up routes to attractions, and reviews for good places to eat. To our dismay, we could not get into wifi in our room, or the breakfast room. We went down to reception, and were told that the signal was strongest there, so we'd have to log on down here (our room was on the fourth floor). The wifi even down here was patchy at best, and the signal was only strong enough for FaceTime/Skype if you crouched in a particular doorway by the lobby! This is a problem that definitely needs to be fixed, as does the confusing signage stating that all guests will be charged for wifi. Another improvement that could be made would be the showers. While I do expect this in hotels, it is a shame in newly renovated rooms to have the barest minimum in terms of water pressure, and seemingly only two temperatures - boiling hot, or lukewarm. The temperature did not appear to be able to be moderated by fiddling with how much cold/hot was on, so boiling or lukewarm were our choices! My last point of improvement is with regards to staff. While the (I am assuming) senior manager who checked us in was quite good, our experiences with the staff member who took over the afternoon/evening shift when the manager went home were not great. I assumed he was a trainee, as he seemed quite nervous, and had zero knowledge about the local area... Which in a hotel full of tourists, can cause some problems. We made a few inquiries which he was not able to answer, so we were forced to try and find answers using the dodgy wifi. I absolutely believe in giving trainee staff time to get into their groove, but I would expect some degree of local knowledge of the surrounding area from someone who has been left alone to man the desk of a hotel in the middle of Rome. As I say, we were quite happy with the hotel overall, and would stay here again, although we would definitely seek clarification that the wifi has been fixed first.

Dear Laura588,
first of all we would like to thank you for your detailed feedback about your stay at the Hotel Tritone: we have already checked the WIFI issue and we will fix it in a matter of days.
This, as the water pressure, is due to structural matters as, as you could see, the hotel is located inside a historical building.
As regards the confusion about the WiFi charge: if you had it included in your reservation, probably you booked directly through our website. All our direct Guests have this bonus while, for all other Guests, there is a fee for this service.
We will surely take care about our new trainees!
By the way, we hope to have you again as our Guests and send you our best regards.

In the heart of Rome, almost next to the Trevi and within walking distance to all major sites. Only for Vatican City or Trastevere public transport is usefull. The rooms are sober, but clean and with all comfort incl flatscreen and minibar. They serve a for Italy exceptionally rich breakfast and the 'old' elevator is an asset. People at reception are correct and helpfull when asked, but could be a bit more customer focussed. Certainly value for money.

This hotel is within walking distance from the trevi fountain, colloseum, spanish steps.
But travelling to the hotel is a bit more troublesome as the nearest metro stop is still a good few hundred meters away. The cobbled sidewalks make it hard to pull your luggage.

Supermarket is across the road.
There was no coffee maker in the room. The curtains were quite thin and we could hear the noise from the road.

The lift was very small, and had to be operated manually. The service staff used the same lift to bring their equipment, so at many times, we had to climb up the stairs. Breakfast was at 7th floor. So in the morning, most of the guests had to climb up the stairs to take breakfast. :<

Dear yclum,
thank your for your feedback about your stay at the Hotel Tritone: as you might understand, our property is located inside a historical building, therefore spaces might be tiny, especially if compared with brand-new buildings. Our location is a paradise for all travellers who are wishing to visit the city centre just walking and the subway stop is less than 10 minutes walk from us, with plenty of buses stopping just in front of the Hotel: we hope you enjoyed your stay in Rome and wish to have you again as our Guest.

Found this hotel our base on our italy holiday. Going to the Colosseum, Spanish steps, Trevi fountain!! Also there is a supermarket across the road which is very convenient. Staff were also very helpfull and friendly. This hotel does not serve dinner, but in a way this is good as it helps you get out and explore.

Reviewed 28 April 2013

This hotel is all about the location - central to the attractions in Rome. We stayed 3 nights in April - during a heat wave in Rome - and the government of Italy apparently will not allow anyone to turn on the A/C until May 1st. It was very warm - we bought a fan from a shop down the street. The room is very small, with the twin beds (??) taking up 85% of the space in the room. We had to have the window open because of the heat - and it was SO NOISY we couldn't sleep. We even had a room at the back - but the noise from the street echoed up into our room. The staff were very nice to us and the breakfast was good. The shower was very very small and tight. Again - nothing really good to say about it except the location and the staff.

Dear TampaTraveler2007,
thank you for your feedback about your stay at the Hotel Tritone: we are sorry for the inconvenience occured with the A/C but, as you mentioned, in April we had an exceptional heat wave and we could not switch the system to cold due to a local law...
We hope you enjoyed our location and managed to visit the heart of Rome easily!
