Everything you expect from Marriott and more. Will stay here again. The location on Via Veneto is perfect for walking, metro etc. The bar is a great place to relax and the calamari is to die for. Concierge has great information and suggestions. Very elegant but relaxed atmosphere.

We used points to stay at this hotel for five nights and weren't sure what to expect. We got a very nice room (after asking to be changed to a room on a different side of the hotel). Our room faced the Borghese Gardens, on the 6th floor and was spacious, comfortable and quiet. What they didn't tell us is that there are electric shutters that you can close at night which shut out all the street sounds. It was heaven. I would suggest that side of the hotel since daytime street noise, when the shutters aren't closed, is less and the view is much nicer. We enjoyed breakfast which was included in our room rate. Like others have said, I'm not sure I would have paid the ususal rate for it but since it was included we enjoyed it. The staff in the hotel including the breakfast room were very nice. The concierge wasn't the most helpful however. He seemed a little terse and harried most of the time. We did not enjoy the restaurant in the lobby - service wasn't great, nor was the food. I would eat elsewhere. We found a couple of small eateries nearby but I would say the biggest drawback to this hotel was the lack of interesting cafes and restaurants nearby. The ones on Via Veneto aren't good but they try hard. I would have preferred some options like you find in other areas of the city. However, we would probably stay here again if we were in Rome and just venture further afield to have dinner. As it was, we were tired at the end of the day and didn't do that.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the Borghese Park side and close the electric shutters at night. High floor.

Adjacent to the Borghese gardens just inside the city wall, this hotel on the Via Veneto gives guests access to the park or to shopping and other city activities. Front desk staff were patient, friendly, competent and helpful. The air-conditioning was making a terrible loud vibration noise when we arrived. It was fixed soon after we notified the desk. Our queen-sized room was clean, very comfortable, and well serviced. We had a typical mini-bar as opposed to an automated one. Both the television and wi-fi had periods of time where they did not work.

The only experience with the restaurant was on the Sunday afternoon when we arrived. Food was mediocre and service was slow. We were told that none of the bottles of white wine on the menu were in stock. Really? This is a luxury hotel in Rome, Italy. We were presented with three wines not on the menu, a chardonnay, a sauvignon blanc, and one from the Castelli Romani area. Beware. Ask for the prices. Prices on the "out-of-stock" wines were 25 Euros or less. We were charged 30 Euros for the Castelli Romani wine, a grocery store wine at best that was extremely ordinary right down to the plastic cork. (We complained later and are satisfied with the resolution.) We would not eat there again if ever at the hotel for another visit. The breakfast area on the roof has a great view, although it may only be open to Marriott Reward members and perhaps some other guest categories.

Room Tip: I believe there are rooms around an inner quadrangle that may be quieter than those over the streets...

The staff from the front door, to check in, to breakfast, to housekeeping were on all occasions, wonderful. Six days of interactions at various times were all positive. Arrived at 8am to a full hotel and they had my room cleaned by 10am. The regular check-in time is in the early afternoon.

Only complaint for room 309 (a suite) was that it is a hair worn... with split seams in the carpet, nicked furniture, and chipped paint. Not the norm for this price or brand. But Rome is a little worn as well... part of its charm. Some postings warn of the street noise, but not a bother to us. Plus third floor walk up was a nice alternative to the single elevator. Our window looked out at Harry's which was kind of fun to hang out of, and wave to the other tourists. Upper floor rooms had a view of the gardens... can't go wrong either way if you have the right attitude.

Great room service and housekeeping, plenty of fresh towels and twice-daily service.

Comp platinum breakfast was "fine" with a typical selection, nothing extraordinary (in comparison to the extraordinary one at the Paris Marriott). The roof top view IS extraordinary... why folks eat inside the strange tent-like atrium instead of outside with a view of Rome all around you is just plain weird.

Perfect location: Subway across the street on the corner by Harry's Barr, taxi stand 30 feet away, and a tour bus across the street. Taxi 48€ to FCO. 10€ to the Vatican.

Harry's Bar, the tourist trap across the street was terrible service. The ONLY poor service in 18 meals around the city. Stay away... plenty of other places to spend $15 on a beer. No fun or famous people go there anymore. Get you pic taken under the sign and run away.

Down the block and around the corner is Andre's - great food - great service - old school Italian. Across the street from Andre's is a less expensive traditional trattoria... wonderful staff and simple menu, which they adapt for you.

I'll go back and bring some hot glue to mend the carpet.

.

Room Tip: See notes above on 309

Located in a nice neighborhood right next to Borghese park. The hotel itself was a bit older but very clean and comfortable and the customer service was excellent . It was about a 8 euro ride from most of the major attractions and there is a taxi stand right around the corner as you exit the hotel to the right that is cheaper than having them hail one for you. The rooftop breakfast buffet had gorgeous views but at 30 euros per person it's a bit much but they had buy one get one free at the front desk. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom had a towel warmer :)

Great location, easy walking to many sites. Nice lobby and reception. Room was nice with very comfortable bedding. Had one of those stupid automated minibars so don't expect to keep your own drinks cold. Internet worked ok in the room, but had periods of very weak signal. I still don't understand why hotels cannot get wifi right in the 21st Century. Room was clean but I did notice mold in the shower ceiling! which is never good. The breakfast was really nice, a nice assortment of fresh items. No Marriott executive lounge at this property. Semi- recommended.

The hotel is old-time luxury. Very comfortable rooms with excellent reading chairs and a generous bathroom. The food is quite good as well. Unfortunately, I didn't think the staff was particularly friendly but we were only there a couple of nights so it didn't matter. The location is wonderful and convenient to everything.
