My wife stayed for three nights in April. About 2 hours after she checked out she realised that she had left several expensive items of clothing in a bedside locker and important medicine behind in the fridge. The hotel was immediately informed. We were told designer clothes could not be found and the medicine had already been throw out (this despite hotel policy to keep for 48 hours, and as I later discovered no-one went to check the room until the next day)! I returned to the hotel twice to get to the bottom of the issue, that day and again the next morning. Reaction from hotel was inept and apathetic, no one seemed to care or wanted to take responsibility. After some insistance on my part, I was asked to write a letter listing the missing items and told that hotel management would deal with it ASAP. Nothing has happened and nor has a follow up email been replied too. It all appeared to be an inconvenience to the front desk and management. I suspected at the time they did not want to expore their internal issues and probability that their staff may have been involved in the disappearance, and rather hoped that we would not follow up and forget the whole issue once we left Rome. Overall appalling concern for a genunine customer complaint not what I expect from a 5 Star. We went on to stay at the Minerve in the old part of the city and had a wonderful hotel experience.
