“Superb Hotel”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

We had a fantastic three night stay here. The level of service from the staff was among the best we have received anywhere in the world.

Although a little away from the main attractions we found this a bonus being able to retreat from the bustle of Rome at the end of a hard days sightseeing. Anyway it's only a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro and tram.

We enjoyed taking the complimentary bikes for a trip to Villa Borghese. We recommend using the Hotels car service to travel to/from the airport - only 10 euros more than a cab.

Room Tip: Not ground floor

My wife and I had an exceptional four night stay at the Lord Byron earlier this month. After travelling for over 14 hours, this was our first hotel and we are very thankful that it was. I had pre-arranged car service with the hotel and the driver was waiting upon our flight's arrival. Checking in was a breeze and the staff was warm and welcoming. Our room, a double deluxe, was spacious and very clean. We both slept soundly every night and were appreciative of the breakfast every morning. The coffee is excellent and they bring it in a carafe (get the hot milk on the side) and they are more than willing to make eggs to your liking if you do not wish to have the scrambled eggs. As others have commented, the hotel is quite far away from most attractions; however, my wife and I love to walk and rarely had to take any taxis (the cost for a cab back to the hotel from Trastevere one evening was 10.40 Euros). We did not get a chance to eat dinner at the hotel but Massimo at the front desk recommended an excellent Trattoria close. All in all an excellent hotel experience and I am looking forward to staying at the Lord Byron on my next visit to Rome.

This is a nice Art Deco hotel with some of the 5 star charm missing, however, the staff at breakfast are very good. The rooms are just beginning to show need for repair although liveable. The hotel location is a good 25 min walk away from the main areas so unless you like walking book closer to Via Corso. Overall a nice hotel but not a great one as expected under the SLH banner.

We stayed here for 4 nights just before the Easter weekend. It was perfect for our needs. The staff were excellent, especially the always-smiling ladies on reception. It was away from the crowds which were heavy at this time of year, yet accessible to the centre. The local restaurant recommendations were also excellent; good to be able to sample some neighbourhood places, and through the Borghese Gardens was a relaxing way to reach Popolo Piazza and the delightful coffee shops, bars and restaurants around there.

Excellent hotel with wonderful room and superb staff. Local restaurant recommendations were perfect. Staff were very helpful. Wonderful base for exploring the city with bus and tran within walking distance. Sedate and elegant. Avoid the bar as it's very quiet.

I spent many hours trawling the internet to find an ideal hotel for a 4 night stay in Rome. I was looking for a good quality hotel, preferably with its own restaurant and in a quiet location but not too far from the historic attractions.
It was not an easy task as most hotels , although in stunning locations will be noisy at night. I'm sure some visitors will find that all part of the Rome "experience" but we would prefer to be able to return after a hectic day of sightseeing to a quieter more tranquil location.
As soon as we arrived at The Lord Byron, I knew we had chosen well. The staff greeted us & settled us in Our beautifully appointed room. The whole ambiance of the Lord Byron is breathtaking, the furnishing and décor is art deco, this theme extending to all parts of the hotel with meticulous detail.
The location in an upmarket residential area was very peaceful & attractive, meaning you would wake up to the birds singing rather than horns tooting & the exhaust rasp of Vespas & Lambrettas!! This does mean you are a little way from the city centre, but for a short taxi ride it far outweighs the cost of the fare.
We ate most nights in the hotel restaurant where we found the food superbly cooked, presented & served. We did eat out on one evening at the Ristorante Gallura, which was a recommendation from the hotel staff, just a short walk away, it was superb, highly recommended
Overall. the Lord Byron is a wonderful place to stay in Rome, you almost feel as if you are part of a "living work of art", looked after by a magnificent team of truly professional staff, in all, A Masterpiece..

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go for a junior suite with balcony.

We have stayed at Hotel Lord Byron for 4 nights on the beginning of April. Hotel is located in a quite part of Rome which is a nice change after sight seeing in a hectic town centre. We had a double room which was very small and definitely not 5 star standard, there was no wardrobe, no iron, not enough space for 2 suitcases. Door opened straight to the bedroom - there was no corridor between and you can hear people walking at night or closing their door. Staff working at the hotel was nice and professional.
Choice for a breakfast was poor and lacked fresh fruits and vegetables. Cooked breakfast was everyday scrambled eggs and bacon, I've seen a better choice in value hotels. Beautiful building, however not 5 star standard. Ok for a short break.
