After seeing a few Tripadvisor reviews that panned the Lord Byron, I expected problems ... but they were tiny compared to the grandeur of this small luxury hotel. (so the room wasn't quite ready when promised and the doorman was helping someone else when we arrived). Elegant service at lunch by the bar, delighful (smallish) room - (but this is central Rome). Convenient to Borghese Gallery and Gardens and also to good travel agent nearby who spoke a bit of English. Breakfast a delight and early enough for us. Loved the architecture - all white in a setting of surrounding color. Not bad location for taxi to main train station either. The limo arranged from airpost was expensive but most competently safe and a pleasant driver.

Nice hotel - good staff
bit far out though and rooms only average sized, without fresh air

This hotel was serious disappointment. We booked through LHW as always, but this hotel should not be on there. The hotel is miles from anywhere and the description on LHW which claims it is a 'leisurely stroll' is simply untrue. The staff were cold and unfriendly, the rooms are very small with strange decor and storage. Don't stay at this hotel, above all else it is a nightmare to travel to and from, especially late at night when taxis are scarce.

The Lord Byron is a delight! My husband and I are frequent travellers to Rome and simply fell in love with this exquisite boutique hotel from the first moment we arrived. It is new, it is fresh, welcoming and perfect for a relaxing, pleasurable stay in the city. It has a great location at the edge of the Borghese Gardens which enabled us to benefit from a quiet, quality night’s rest (not always the case at many of the other top properties). The restaurant offers an outrageous selection of top Italian cuisine and presents honest prices. Our only regret was to have discovered the treasure on our second to last night. We will be sure to not make the same mistake the next time.

We stayed at the Lord Byron in June and we were most disappointed.

I agree it is not a leading hotel in any regard at all. Our room was a nightmare in red with a window that opened inward!

The bathroom was too small. A terry toweling shower curtain was a sight to behold and the toilet blocked which just about made our stay!

But the worse was to come when we found the hotel had charged us twice!
We did not become aware of this until we were in london and our credit card was rejected by an ATM. This was a real inconvenience and the hotels response was 'so what?'

The location was a pain and the breakfast lacking in variety and quality. I recommend a less expensive hotel in a more central location, at least you won't feel too ripped off!

I take issue with the Lord Byron being included as a "Leading Hotel of the World" as I saw nothing to merit it. The room was tiny - so small in fact there was no room for proper closets. Instead, the "closets" were 2 large wall cabinets mounted on either side of the bed. A pole was attached to the hanging bar which you lowered out & into the room to hang your clothes. This was the strangest set-up I have ever seen.
Once you had unpacked and hung your clothes, you were free to enjoy the 3 foot wide U of floor space surrounding the bed. Outside of the room, I agree with the previous review re: the out of the way location, medicore breakfast and uncomfortable feeling of the bar/public space.
With all the great hotels in Rome, don't bother with the Lord Byron.

The Lord Byron was not what we expected, so we are writting about our visit. The tub was great! Big enough for two, and after the long flight from L.A. it was just what we needed. The staff was fantastic, but that is where it ended for us. The breakfast was not fresh. The eggs were on a buffett, and they were strange in taste and texture. The only fruit was from a can, a few prunes, and peaches. The atmosphere of the bar/lounge and the casual restaurant was awkward, and not comfortable. The location is definately out of the way, but it is very quiet. We will not stay there again.
