“A wonderful way to enjoy Rome without the crowds and noise”
Reviewed 20 October 2010

Tired as we were of overpriced hotels with tiny rooms and dubious air conditioners that - no matter how noisy - could not mask the noisy streets outside, on this trip to Rome we selected the Lord Byron, and could not have made a better choice. With the Borghese grounds separating us from the Piazza Populo and other tourist haunts, this delightful quiet hotel is 20 quiet minutes' walk from the bustling heart of the City.

Our Superior Room, although not large, was more than adequate, was very nicely appointed and warmed with interesting art-deco designs. And so quiet!

The hotel staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. On our first day my wife defeated any risk of jet lag by sleeping in until 11:00 a.m., well past the closing of the breakfast room. No worries. The bar steward provided her with coffee and rolls in the bar once she surfaced! The staff gave us good suggesrtions for local dining, and I would particularly recommend the Ristaurante Ambasciata d'Abruz, a short 10-minute walk from the hotel.

Our only "hiccup" on the stay was that we arranged for pick-up by hotel car on our arrivgal at the airport. When a car finally arrived thanks to some persistent calling by a helpful competitor, the driver had difficulty finding the hotel despite our providing address and general direction. If the first step of the visit was thus not perfect, I hasten to add that everything thereafter was.

A charming Botique Hotel away from the maddening crowds. In a quiet neighborhood. We were a party of 18 and we were handled efficiently. The owner was on the site and made sure everyone was satisfied. All the employees were very nice ie: Desk people, maids and waiters etc, etc. The food was fabulous, breakfast was superb. A five star Hotel with a very reasonable price.

We loved our week at the Lord Byron. Our first trip to Rome. At first we thought we were a bit too far from things, but after the first day we knew that wasn't the case. The staff was very helpful and the room was lovely. We had a little veranda where we could sit at night and relax. We walked through the Borghese gardens on our way to several attractions and it was just beautiful. There was also a bus stop right at the bottom of the street. Our long awaited trip to Italy was everthing we expected and more. Many thanks to the staff at Lord Byron. Hope to return some day.

My husband and I love finding smaller, boutique hotels when we travel and the Hotel Lord Byron turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. What a charming and beautiful hotel this is. Tucked away at the northern end of the Villa Borghese in a very upscale part of town, the Hotel Lord Byron provided 5 star service, plush and spacious room (with terrace and view!) and delicious breakfast every morning. We liked that it was a bit off the beaten path, which made it wonderfully quiet at night. We were only a short taxi ride from anywhere "touristy" we wanted to go. We advised the hotel we were celebrating our anniversary and they surprised us with a complimentary bottle of champagne. The concierge Andrea could not have been more helpful, steering us to a local restaurant, Pagaroma, that we were able to walk to one evening for a delicious meal. He also advised us on arranging a local tour guide to see some classic Roman sights (a bit pricey but still good). The desk staff was courteous and helpful and Andrea (different man) even made phone calls to Alitalia to inquire, in Italian, about our upcoming flights to the Puglia region. The bathroom was spacious (huge tub) and the hotel provided excellent products for our use. This is a hotel we will tell our friends about. Highly recommend it.

I stayed at the Hotel Lord Byron for 3 nights in September and enjoyed every single moment of my stay.

The hotel is beautiful. The lobby and waiting area is really nice and makes one feel relaxed and welcomed instantly.

I especially loved my room - it was spacious and had a nice terrace. The room was clean and had excellent amenities - hair dryer, mini bar, complimentary bottle of sparkling water, shampoo, nail file, cotton balls etc.

The breakfast was good - a standard continental affair. (Do not expect something gourmet.)

The hotel staff were exceptional in helping me arrange tours, choose a restaurant to eat, get cab etc. I can't say enough good things about them. Their service was what made this hotel really stand out for me.

Only thing I didn't like was that the walls were very thin. I heard a lot of sounds coming out of surrounding rooms and made sleeping/relaxing a little hard at times.

This is the only review I have ever written. My expectations of services I receive while traveling are of the highest standards; therefore, I never feel the need to write reviews ... Lord Byron proves the exception.

The period of Art Deco has always had an allure for me. It represents high artistic style and an era of grandeur.

Lord Byron unfolds its world at the entrance; as if a page of history comes to life. Without waxing on, there is no expense spared by our hotelier, Amedeo Ottavian, in bringing to life the best of the art deco period.

With a gracious staff, enjoy your stay; it is incomparable, personalized and professional.

Ciao, Neal and Eileen

We spent an entire week in Rome Lord Byron was our home base. All I can say is we loved this hotel. Very classy and elegant. Its friendly and helpful staff were soon like part of the family for us, especially the hotel owner. He puts an effort into making his guests feel welcome. THANK YOU for that! The hotel is located in Parioli, a quiet residential/embassy district, within walking distance the Villa Borghese. Several of Rome's best restaurants can also be reached on foot, but the Lord Byron hotel is famous for its own restaurant, the Sapori. I personally enjoyed the location because it was a safe area to walk around in, not too touristy, but still within easy reach to the city center. I cant wait to get back to this place.
