Got an excellent "blind" deal for a four night stay on Lastminute.com. It's a five star hotel in terms of grandeur and service, a little faded yes, but you at least get the space that you just don't get at the smaller 3-4 star boutique hotels. Make sure you ask for a room upgrade even if you are on a cheap deal - I reckon the hotel struggles to get full. As long as you can pay 3 star prices rather than 5 star, I would happily recommend this hotel as a "grand" experience in Rome.

A very elegant hotel, well situated for a tourist break. We were in room 522 from the 13th to the 17th of January. Very nice, stylish, not modern but very clean and with essential modern amenities, such as free wifi etc.
The personnel were really very nice and helpful, always answering questions promptly and giving helpful information. On the second day it was my wife's birthday and totally spontaneously we found a bottle of sparkling wine in our room. That was a very nice touch.
Was anything negative ? Nothing that I can think of offhand.
Would I recommend this hotel to others ? Definitely !

After reading some poor reviews on Tripadvisor we were dubious in advance about our stay at the Ambasciatori. However our doubts were soon put to rest. Our stay was fantastic, with the staff being courteous and the room well decorated, clean and welcoming. We had a great balcony (room 520) with the sun shining over the balcony throughout our stay!

The hotel was a short stroll from the metro station Barberini and only a little further to the vast array of sights, so the location was ideal!

The breakfast buffet was perfectly adequate for our needs with a good selection of food and kept us going until our craving for ice cream kicked in! Ferrero Rocher ice cream is a must! One morning they had run out of croissants but this was a minor point.

Take advantage of the half price cocktails at the Hard Rock Cafe, right next door (Friday evenings)!

We had an unforgettable time! Perfect company, fantastic city and a hotel that was totally worth the money!

If you have any doubts from the negative reviews rest assured that our stay was great and we'd recommend the hotel!

The location of this hotel is fantastic. You can see so many famous attractions within walking distance. The rooms are old but clean. Bare and not very fancy. Breakfast is minimal. But the grandeur and extremely helpful staff make up for anything that is lacking. I enjoyed my stay tremendously and would recommend this hotel.

Dear Mrs. Wendy,

I thank you for choosing the Ambasciatori Palace during your last stay in Rome.

The position of our hotel, right in the middle of the famous Via Veneto, in the heart of the Eternal City, is effectively “fantastic” as you said.
I thank you for your sharing your review on TripAdvisor and to recommend our hotel.

Looking forward to welcoming you for your next journey in Rome.

Noted are the previous bad references with people talking about noisy air con shafts and damp. We could see how this could have been ....BUT.... despite our concerns our stay at this hotel couldn't have been much better. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. My mother has mobility problems and they moved the earth to make sure that she had a great room with a wet room even though we hadn't informed them of these needs prior to our visit. Our room was terrific. WEll kept and with a balcony. It did look out onto air con conduits and they were a little noisy but the glazing was fine and they weren't that bad anyway. I would recommend this central and very accessible hotel to anyone.

The hotel is located in a delightful part of Rome -- across the street from the American Embassy, right next door to the Hard Rock Café, close to elegant shops and a variety of restaurants, and within easy walking distance of the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain and other interesting sites in Rome. We had a huge room that overlooked Via Veneto and included two bathrooms (bath and a half). The hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. The food in the hotel's restaurant was somewhat uneven -- ranging from excellent to average -- but there are plenty of places to eat within a two-block walk. If I were returning to Rome, I would definitely book a room at this hotel again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Five-star luxury for the Ambasciatori Palace in via Vittorio Veneto, an elegant window facing the Eternal City. In an enviable location, the hotel blends the magic of traditional hospitality with contemporary elegance. Known as 'Ambassadors' Palace', it was originally built in 1903 and it has been the location of international affairs between diplomats from the nearby Embassies and a witness to the excitement of the mundane 'Dolce Vita'. The restoration was made according to the original structure of the environment, and repeating and interpreting the existing decorations: the Brazilian granite columns and the intricate wrought-iron balustrade of the grand staircase, the marble floors and the polychromatic mosaic and the pleasant succession of stuccoes, the Venetian chandeliers and skylights. The welcoming and aristocratic atmosphere of the Ambasciatori Palace combines with exclusive services provided and a careful attention to technology and comfort. The 152 rooms are bright, spacious and finely furnished, decorated in soft colors and aristocratic textures. The new Ambassador Rooms are equipped with TouchControl devices to adjust temperature and lighting and MediaHub to connect the HD screen to the TV audio/video devices. Guests can use the Fitness Center, dine at the refined and elegant restaurant 'La Terrazza', renowned for its culinary fame since the 1920's, the Embassy Bar and Bistro corner and complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms and public areas. The privileged position of the Ambasciatori Palace, in the business district, makes the Hotel the ideal location for business trips, meetings , exhibitions , banquets and vernissage. The elegant business center includes several multipurpose rooms of different sizes, some with natural light and overlooking via Veneto. The main hall is housed in the ballroom. The Ambasciatori Palace is the ideal place for an unforgettable stay among the most legendary historical-artistic monuments and the elegant shopping streets of Rome. A few steps from the Metropolitana Train (stop Barberini) allows a pleasant walk to the Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona and the main railway Station Termini. ... more   less
