“Perfect in Rome !!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

A traditional hotel in a perfect location with old world charm. The service is warm and caring from the front desk to the bellman to the wonderful concierge's ! Breakfast is included lots of fresh fruit and Italian pastries and hot American style eggs etc. 5th floor is upgraded with lots of luxe bedding etc. worth the upgrade. Great cafés and restaurants all in walking distance. Subway is close by and easy to use. Talk to all the concierge's they can help you plan and give you great travel advice! Would stay there again.

Room Tip: 5th floor worth the upgrade.

This hotel is right on the Via Vittorio Veneto which is a great location. Close to the metro. The only BIG downside is the beds are hard as rocks and they need to get better pillows. The pillows are flat and very hard as well. My shower had mold in it and needed a good cleaning as well. The staff is excellent and very helpful.
Sorry for the bad write up...but I have to be truthful. For a Five Star rated hotel this Palace needs an upgrade!

We recently stayed for 10 days at the Ambasciatori and it was wonderful. The staff, the location, everything was absolutely wonderful. The food was fabulous and the service was outstanding. We had the time of our lives. Thanks!

Room Tip: Rooms away from the Via Veneta are quieter

An old beautiful hotel in a good if touristy district - but it's quiet at night which is a big plus. The hotel needs a bit of updating, but the rooms are comfortable and the service is very friendly and helpful - everyone speaks good English. The breakfast is excellent (American style) with a hot buffet as well as a cold spread. A couple of strange things - no directory of services in the rooms - so we had to ask to learn that there was a gym - and there was no soap initially plus no tissues (Kleenex) anytime. Still - these are minor items, but expectations are high for a hotel with a 5 star rating. And time for a big paint job and upgrade for this hotel.

This hotel has a 5 star rating but in fact is a good 4 star. Entrance and common facilities are ok. Breakfast is very standard rooms are large very slient but dark. Personnel is friendly and abundatly available. Location si great, short distance to everything. A lot of large groups from cruise ships.. And firrst time a slept in a folding bed in a 5 star hotel!

Visited Rome in April and stopped here for 4 nights,
It's a big grand Rome style hotel, but requires some updating as it's looking a little tired, for example the coffee pots at breakfast had the top of the lids missing, just felt a little worn out,

Staff was helpful, and the hotel also features parking.

Disappointing point, no complimentary water ?
We did however request tea making facilities with in the room which was provided as not normally

Breakfast was ok

Location was very good

When looking for a hotel in Rome we were concerned about the negative reviews on Trip Advisor for the Ambasciatori Palace .. We knew Via Veneto was one of the most iconic locations in Rome & walking distance to most tourist sights but had no knowledge of this particular hotel so we took a leap of faith .. It was perfect .. We took two rooms to accommodate our daughters and ourselves and both were large , overlooking Via Veneto, the King room had two balconies , the other had two bathrooms , these weren't renovated rooms, they were on the 4th floor and were tidy , clean , fairly minimal and suited us just fine .. We stayed over the Pope Canonisation weekend so the city was packed, the hotel also had cruise ship tourists passing through yet still we never felt things were busy, the bar wasn't packed , at breakfast we got a big table each morning with no problem and had a full buffet breakfast with fresh mozzarella , eggs, bacon, and continental choices ..it is an old place, that's why it's got $1m marble staircase that you couldn't afford to put into a hotel these days , but that's its character ..with character comes personality , and this place certainly has that , for two of three nights it's nice to experience it ..the bathrooms were clean, the staff were brilliant, the concierge was super helpful ..I can only suggest as a tip to people who've had bad experiences with staff that they could consider a few euro's " consideration " to staff in recognition of helpful service ..it works wonders in hotels worldwide , acknowledges your appreciation and usually ensures above average service is forthcoming ! We'd stay here again definitely and will recommend it to everyone we know .

Room Tip: Ask the staff for a room THEY'D choose to stay in themselves !

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Five-star luxury for the Ambasciatori Palace in via Vittorio Veneto, an elegant window facing the Eternal City. In an enviable location, the hotel blends the magic of traditional hospitality with contemporary elegance. Known as 'Ambassadors' Palace', it was originally built in 1903 and it has been the location of international affairs between diplomats from the nearby Embassies and a witness to the excitement of the mundane 'Dolce Vita'. The restoration was made according to the original structure of the environment, and repeating and interpreting the existing decorations: the Brazilian granite columns and the intricate wrought-iron balustrade of the grand staircase, the marble floors and the polychromatic mosaic and the pleasant succession of stuccoes, the Venetian chandeliers and skylights. The welcoming and aristocratic atmosphere of the Ambasciatori Palace combines with exclusive services provided and a careful attention to technology and comfort. The 152 rooms are bright, spacious and finely furnished, decorated in soft colors and aristocratic textures. The new Ambassador Rooms are equipped with TouchControl devices to adjust temperature and lighting and MediaHub to connect the HD screen to the TV audio/video devices. Guests can use the Fitness Center, dine at the refined and elegant restaurant 'La Terrazza', renowned for its culinary fame since the 1920's, the Embassy Bar and Bistro corner and complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms and public areas. The privileged position of the Ambasciatori Palace, in the business district, makes the Hotel the ideal location for business trips, meetings , exhibitions , banquets and vernissage. The elegant business center includes several multipurpose rooms of different sizes, some with natural light and overlooking via Veneto. The main hall is housed in the ballroom. The Ambasciatori Palace is the ideal place for an unforgettable stay among the most legendary historical-artistic monuments and the elegant shopping streets of Rome. A few steps from the Metropolitana Train (stop Barberini) allows a pleasant walk to the Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona and the main railway Station Termini. ... more   less
