“Very Nice Hotel”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

This is a very nice hotel located on Piazza Barberini in central Rome. Excellent location; walking distance to many of the major attractions. The room was average-sized by European standards, and had adequate A/C. As others have noted, the wi-fi service is intermittent. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and you also had the option of eggs cooked to order. Service was very good.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at the end of our Italy trip for our 10th anniversary. As others have said, the rooms are lovely. The view onto the Piazza is terriffic and don't worry about noise - with two sets of sound proof windows, once we closed them we heard absolutely nothing. The bed was very comfortable (we had a king in Europe!). The room was spotless and charming. The bathroom was modern and very comfortable. Yes, it would be nice to have conditioner, but we were in 6 hotels in Italy and none had it, so best to pack a small bottle when you travel.

The breakfast, as everyone has said is truly outstanding. But I think what makes this hotel so lovely, besides how charming it is, are the staff. Every single person was willing, cheerful and helpful. We had drinks both nights in the lounge where a very kind gentleman chatted with us, gave us peanuts and chips with our drinks for free and was just a pleasure. At the front desk, we had fabulous recommendations for dinner both nights. The first night was a local restaurant frequented by Romans with fabulous food and great prices. The second night was more upscale, 4 courses included for an extremely reasonable price including wine. They did not miss the mark. Plus every interaction with them was helpful and pleasant.

When we arrived in our room there was a large fruit plate plus bottled water and the night before we left, a beautiful plate of desserts. Every single touch was addressed.

Thank you, Hotel Barocco. I have already recommended you to many friends.

Loved this hotel. Can't speak to the annex since I stayed in main hotel. It's all about service here. Small hotel with large staff that go beyond the norm to ensure you enjoy your stay. As others have said--great location, very comfortable beds, impressive breakfast, modern bathrooms. Plus all the little extras that make you feel welcome--early arrival was no problem they stored our luggage and gave us maps and recommended restaurants; fruit basket upon arrival; bottle of wine after 3rd day; yummy beautiful cookies the night before check-out. I will stay again and highly recommend this hotel to others.

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon end of April/beginning of May. It was the BEST hotel we have ever stayed at! They were so friendly and helpful and we had a very pleasant stay. They were super CLEAN, like really clean. We loved it and will stay here for future visits to Roma:)

First time in Rome. Chose this hotel based on reviews and lots of research. Exceeded expectations. Great location, friendly staff, lovely breakfasts, attention to detail. Metres from the metro, heaps of restaurants in little back streets behind and in front and the sides. We were in room 19 overlooking the piazza. Windows could be opened if required to the sounds and sights of the area if needed. Felt safe to be in the location. A very good place to stay for first timers.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade.

This was our second visit to the hotel in 5 months, this time we had an annex room. Yet again the hotel exceeded our expectations, check in was so easy as they had our details from before, happy smiling faces greet you. We left our cases and went out into Rome, on our return we were shown to our room, which was just outstanding and large, the cases had already been delivered, we were greeted by a lovely note welcoming us back and a plate of fruit.
The breakfast here is amazing, so much choice and you have to order the Italian omelet.. It's divine.. There is nothing bad you can say about the Barocco, the staff are friendly and cannot do enough for you, they also once again booked us into our favorite restaurant and gave us other recommendations. All in all another wonderful stay and when we return we will definitely book here again.
