This hotel is nicely placed within easy walking distance of Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and Pantheon. Very pleasant, attentive and helpful reception staff welcome you on arrival and are pleased to assist in anyway during your stay. The hotel is tucked away and although the rooms are relatively small, they are vey well furnished and decorated. There is no restaurant at the hotel but breakfast has a good range as well as a cooked eggs menu. The metro is also very close within a 2 minute walk and tickets can be purchased upon request from the hotel reception. Would definitely stay here again at our next visit to Rome.

my third visit to Rome and the best so far, this hotel is a hidden oasis in the centre of the eternal city .We stayed in room 43 which has an outside terrace with a patio table and sunloungers as well as a bath ....yes a bath tub big enough to swim in ..... nearly . the hotel is in a great location to see all the sites and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby which the hotel staff recomended. All the hotel staff are friendly and helpful and go that extra mile to make your stay special .I would like to thank the guy who ran the bar ,i think he came from taormina, who bought us a drink after Italy beat England it was much appreciated and the next time we stay i will return the gesture

This was our first hotel my family visited on our 10 day trip through Italy, and it was lovely. We quickly reminded ourselves that European hotel rooms are smaller than we might find at similarly priced hotels in the US, but Hotel Barocco was a perfect place for us to start. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the proximity to what we wanted to see and do in Rome was perfect (walking distance to Trevi Fountian - under renovation starting the week before we arrived though!, the Spanish Steps and many shops, cafés and restaurants), but while being nestled in a very busy part of the city, it was still remarkably quiet - even on the first floor. And the bathrooms were well appointed (although I missed hair conditioner) and very spacious by most European standards. If we come back to Rome, which I hope we will, we'd stay there again in a heart beat.

My husband and I treated our granddaughter to a trip to Rome, an experience she wanted and we were happy to accompany her. We booked four nights at the Hotel Barocco in Piazza Barberini in Rome. I was so pleased with this Hotel because our first booking, many years ago, at a hotel in Rome was not a good one.

The Hotel is clean and inviting. The concierge service was friendly, helpful and accommodating and very professionally handled. Our room was large, clean, nicely kept with a large bathroom and a huge whirlpool tub. The linens were plentiful, beds crisp, clean and comfortable and a turn-down service was also provided.

A lovely breakfast room with small tables, flowers on each table, tablecloths and linen napkins greeted us each morning. There was an assortment of breakfast offerings, buffet style, as well as a menu of omelets, French Toast, etc. The room was cozy, the food was very good, and the selections varied each morning.

The Hotel has a great location that made it easy to walk and see the sights.

The only minor negatives I had were that the shower stall was extremely small; no instructions were provided for the whirlpool tub and we couldn't start it because the remote had not been provided. Two reading lights next to the bed had been burned out and were not replaced.

I would highly recommend this Hotel. We had a wonderful experience and would return. The negatives were minor ones and no reason not to consider this location. We also so appreciated the concierge staff who provided answers to all our questions, made dinner reservations, called drivers and cabs for us all done in a professional manner. We would return and maybe the next time our granddaughter can take us!!

I am writing this review for the skeptical American traveler such as myself…

My first recommendation is for you to read thru the other reviews from Americans on this Hotel. It is unheard of that a European Hotel has this many great reviews written by other Americans! Those who travel a lot thru Europe understand that when you see a European 5-Star rating that usually equates to a 2-3 rating back home. The Barocco Hotel in US standards would be a high 3.5 to a low 4 Star Overall (in my opinion)

Also understand that Rome is a big city and as in New York, Boston or DC. Hotel rooms in these city centers usually have smaller size rooms than if you would get a room out in the ‘burbs somewhere!

The Hotel Baracco is very good from a US service standpoint. They are very accommodating and will help with directions, restaurant choices and arranging for transportation. They can arrange a car service (late model Mercedes or Alpha Romeo sedan) to/from FCO airport (at the time we were there $55 Euro each way) or to/from the Cruise Terminal in Civitavecchia (130 Euros). Our Cruise line wanted to charge us 539 Euros for a similar service.

There is almost always someone at the front desk that speaks English and they are always very accommodating! So the service is exceptional based on what you normally receive in Europe.

The Hotel is centrally located in Rome and is a 3 minute walk to the Spanish Steps and about the same to Trevi Fountain. It is in the Embassy area and we have always felt very safe. It is located off of the Piazza Barberini. The Main subway line is there and if you are used to using the subway it is a cheap way to travel the city @1.50 euro each way... 3 stops to the coliseum and 6 stops and a short walk to the Vatican. Otherwise it is about a 6 minute Cab ride each… approx. 12 euros …

It is a busy area and just as if you were staying in NYC, if you are a light sleeper you may not want a room right off of the street. At the time of booking let them know this. They are very accommodating and will do whatever it takes to make your stay a pleasant one. The pre-trip communication that we had with them was outstanding. Fabrizio Alegi took care of all the Car transfers for us and room requests via email, before we even left the states. His follow up was outstanding!

The first time we stayed at the Hotel Barocco (2011) we stayed in room 43, which has a gorgeous terrace and outdoor tub overlooking the Piazza and the fountain. The room was average. The Terrace made for an outstanding overall experience.
This last time we stayed in room 42. It was a similar size room with a much smaller but cute little balcony. It was quaint but not as outstanding as the experience of room 43.

Both times we had the Breakfast including, which is outstanding. Fresh bakery, fruit, meats and made to order eggs and other items. If this is not included in your room rate, you must negotiate it in, it is worth it!

We will stay at the Hotel Barocco again on our next trip to Italy as it is an outstanding home base for us when we are in Rome!

Room Tip: Room 43 Terrace with Tub that Overlooks Piazza and Fountain
