“Conveniently located near the Spanish steps with very helpful staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2010

We stayed at Barocco for the first few nights of our honeymoon in Italy. We paid to have a car pick us up at the airport which was very reasonably priced. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. There was always someone at the front desk who could speak English. They gave us good recommendations for restaurants, train service, taxis, etc.
The hotel is conveniently located about 2 blocks from the Spanish Steps which was why we elected to stay there. I had formerly stayed at the Bernini Bristol on a different trip but we decided to save some money by staying at Barocco. The location is great.
The only negative would be the size of the rooms. The bedroom is very small although that is typical for a Roman hotel room. The adjoining bathroom, however, was very good sized. Also, they recently completed a renovation so that the entire room and bathroom was newly painted with new windows, bedding, fixtures, furniture. It was very well done. Our room was located above the reception area by a very busy street and we were wary about the noise level. The new windows, however, were effective in keeping out any noise. We slept comfortably every night we stayed there.
Their complimentary breakfast was very good and we rated it the best breakfast of the 4 hotels we stayed at while in Italy. Overall, the hotel met our needs, was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful even though the rooms were small.

We liked the hotel, it was clean and the room was quite nice. The location is very nice, about 5-8 minutes walk to the Trevi fountain area, about 10 minutes or so from Spanish steps. Even though its on the main street, it's not noisy at all. Polite staff. They don't have iron/ironing table in the room so I had to ask for one. Had to return it after using it right away so that was the only inconvenient point. But otherwise, a nice place to stay.

Stayed her on the Honeymoon...the hotel is newly renovated and very nicely laid out. On a side street in a super location the service and quality of breakfeast food made for an excellent 3 days. They also were super at suggesting places to eat and set us up with a private tour guide for the Sistene Chapel. The elevator and certain areas of the hotel are small and tight, but not uncommon for Europe. The street is quiet and other than some hallway noise we did not hear a peep. Also, it sits on Plaza Barbenini a charming place to grab a drink and hit the metro station if you need to move to another area in Rome. Restaurants they recomended that were excellent and not to expensive were Santa Lucia, Perluigi, and Babette...all GOOD!

Execellent location, room, staff, and services. Extremely helpful advice offered to hotel guests. Definitely will come back again next time in Rome. Fabio, at the front desk, along with the rest of the hotel staff, made our Roman holiday stay very special.

If it's in your price range - room #49 is fantastic.

We began and ended our 2 week 30 year wedding anniversary trip at Hotel Barocco. We asked for a driver from the hotel to pick us up at the airport, which was wonderful after flying all night, and he was waiting for us outside the terminal with our names on a sign. From the moment we walked through the door of Hotel Barocco we were warmly welcomed and well-taken care of. Our room was not ready, so they brought us coffee and fruit in the sitting room by the front desk. It was raining, so after the coffee, they gave us an umbrella to take a walk while the room was being cleaned. The hotel location is wonderful. Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps just 5-10 minute walk away. Our room, #49, was exquisite! Loved it! Had a balcony overlooking Bernini Square and fountain. Extremely comfortable bed, nicest bathroom we had on entire trip (4 hotels). Fruit plate was in the room for us. Beautifully decorated. We spent 4 nights, and each morning we really looked forward to breakfast! Lovely, delicious. Perfect service. Excellent coffee and made-to-order omelettes. Fabio at front desk was delightful and professional. He took excellent care of us and was very helpful with every request and question. If you are Catholic, there is an English speaking Mass on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. just a 5 minute walk away at Saint Susanna. It was beautiful, both the church and the Mass. Our last night, we returned to Hotel Barocco to be close to the airport. Again, warm and welcoming staff. Fabio was again kind and charming. The servers at breakfast all stopped by our table to chat and say good bye, and wish us safe travels. We had a driver from the hotel take us to the airport the next day. He was also very kind, answering our questions and sharing his knowledge of sights we passed along the way. A perfect beginning and end to a perfect Italy experience. I highly recommend Hotel Barocco.

We spent two nights at the Hotel Barocco in May 2010. They have recently re-opened after doing some upgrading. The new decor is modern and lovely. Our room was a very small, but this is not a big deal for us (it was also oddly shaped with the walls slightly misaligned- this was nicely disguised with mirrors and most folks would likely never notice it). The bed was the most comfortable one we slept on in Italy and my husband thinks it was more comfortable than our bed at home! The bathroom was a little hit or miss. Great shower, fancy basin sink, but no where to put toiletries. Also there was apparently some sort of leak I think., When we check in I noticed the carpet around the door to the bathroom was damp. After our showers the next day the capret was very wet, despite the fact that there was no water on the floor and the shower door had been tightly closed. Not sure what that was about. The location of the hotel is great- very close to Metro and many things to see and do (be sure and hit the Capuchin Crypt right down the street- wild stuff!). One word of advice to the owners- your internet access is grossly overpriced- 5 euro for 30 minutes is outrageous. We wanted to check our flight info but didn't because of the outrageous price. We wish we had- we got to the airport to discover that our flight was 7 hours delayed and we could have slept in and spent the afternoon in Rome instead of sitting around the terminal.

My wife and I spent 4 nights in Rome at this hotel. The hotel is situated perfectly for walking to all the major sites except maybe the Vatican which we decided to take a cab. The front desk has a good free map to guide you to everything. Walking around can be intimidating at first, but once you get acclimated it is easy. The Barberini square, where the hotel is located, has a taxi pickup a few steps away where you can easily catch a cab.
The hotel is "hidden" on a side street from the square, but once inside you can tell it has been remodeled. Everything looks new and clean. Typical small European room but modern. TV has a few English speaking news channels to keep up on current events. The only complaint is our bathroom didn't have enough lighting at the vanity, but we managed by opening the shutters. The hotel has a laptop you can rent to check in your plane tickets or check email too.
The breakfast was wonderful with a variety of simple breakfast foods, juices, and water. Try the red orange juice. Coffee and made to order eggs can be ordered through the staff. The staff took great care in making sure everything was replinished.
When we went to the Vatican a young man immediately approached me when I got out of the taxi to sell me a tour. We were hesitant at first, but agreed. It was great. 40 Euros each let us bypass the HUGE line. We had an English speaking guide and each of us received an Ipod type listening device so everyone in the group could hear him.
Finally, the hotel arranged a car service to take us to the airport. 50 Euros in a nice Mercedes. A taxi costs 40. And to top it off, the front desk manager came outside before we left and wished me a Happy B-day when my wife and I had forgot. Great ending to fine trip.
