Carlo, thank you so much for the fabulous accommodations ( including the boiler for our room AND teas), the friendliness of the entire staff, the outrageous breakfast and fresh cappuccinos by the huge windows, and your great advice on so many things that we were not accustomed to since this was our first trip to Italy . You made our holiday a wonderful memory and added so much friendliness to Rome. After being gone ALL DAY, it was always a delight to come back to our very comfortable, beautiful Hotel and relax. Our room was so clean, as was the entirehotel! The courtyard was a delightand the hospitality exceptional. Thank you all so much. God bless you Carlo, your staff and Hotel Giolli

The Giolli is another of the hotels which seem common in Europe with only the entrance on the ground floor. The lift to reception on the first floor is very small, best suited to two people or one with luggage. The rooms are understandably small but adequate for the price we paid. The location is probably one of its best features being within a short walk of the Trevi fountain and the Collosseum and many other lesser known but impressive features of Rome. The included breakfast was continental, nothing hot, but very adequate. There is a comfy lounge adjoining the breakfast room in which to wait for your pickup. The only legitimate complaint was the shower, which seems to be on a pump of some sort and the pressure is constantly up and down every few seconds, which means the shower runs HOT and COLD constantly. What made this problem worse was having read a previous customers complaint on Trip Advisor re the same problem, the manager said he called a plumber and the problem was now fixed. This was obviously a big fib as the problem is still there. This aside we would possibly stay there again as its location is good and it is somewhere to lay a weary head and hopefully very soon in the future, have a nice shower. The concierge directions for a meal, 2nd street on the left, called the al Boschetto was an excellent choice.

I stayed at the Giolli for 3 nights in December 2013 with a friend and booked through Hotels.com. My criteria was a central, safe, clean and good value hotel and Giolli ticked every box.

Situated about half way along Via Nazionale opposite the Palace of Expositions it is ideally halfway between Termini and Centro Storica areas. Via Nazionale is a big bright shopping street and felt very safe for 2 females walking back after a night out. (5mins walk from Trevi via the Quirinale; 15 from Piazza Navonne).

The hotel itself is accessed through large double doors (security controlled at night) and reception is on the first floor through automatic glass doors (very swish!). Other floors are accessed from the public stairwell or modern lift but again, security glass doors restrict entrance to hotel guests only.
Public areas and our room was spotless. Breakfast (included) was great with good coffee, ham, cheese, chocolate croissants and cereal.
The free WiFi in our room gave no problems at all.

We had a slight blip on arrival at midnight when we discovered our allocated room was not set up with twin beds. The man on reception initially just shrugged and suggested we share a double as nothing could be fixed that night but with some cajoling he found us an alternative room and we were able to stay in a larger triple room for our stay. Rooms on 1st floor have additional security of a 24hr concierge but there was a wee bit of noise from staff at breakfast setup.

I'm pleased now I didn't book a hotel right at Trevi or other landmarks as these areas were mobbed at all hours and it was really nice to retreat to our quieter location.
I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room 110 is a triple with a double and a single bed on the same floor as the reception

Booked online with promotional offer. Overall very happy with the cleanliness, and quality of stay. One gripe would be the lack of hot water in the evening! Good breakfast and staff were friendly.
Centrally located so was ideal to visit all the important districts in Rome. Excellent restaurants and shops too.

The Giolli was in a great location. We walked there from the Train Station and just about everywhere else. Rooms were nice, not plush. Breakfast was good, but no hot items, but drinks. I feel it was a very good value for the middle of Rome. The staff was very helpful. I lost a room key and they replaced it with no questions or charges.

Conveniently located between the Termini station and Trastevere, this medium-class hotel offers good value for money and most importantly, very accomodating staff - I left the charger for the computer in my room on checking out, and was relieved to find they sent it on to my home address that very same day.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the back are quieter; Via Nazionale can be busy.
