We stayed in a suite with a view of the forum. The suite had a queen bed and a queen sofabed with two bathrooms, one with a jacuzzi; the second with a shower. There were two good closets so we weren't tripping over our luggage. You are in the middle of a city so there is some unavoidable street noise. But for the most part, with the air conditioning on, the noise did not prevent us from getting a good nights sleep.
You can catch glimpses of the Colosseum from the room as well as a pretty extensive view of the forum(s).

The rooftop restaurant has an amazing view and was very convenient for breakfast...most evenings we were still exploring Rome so we never had a dinner there. The restaurant staff was helpful at breakfast and restocked the breakfast buffet promptly when items were depleted.

We had the flowers and a fruit basket added to the suite to make our stay more enjoyable. The flower arrangement was huge and very fresh so that the flowers stayed lovely for the 5+ days we stayed. The fruit baskets was all ripe and enjoyable.

The concierge was very helpful with directions, recommendations and making reservations.

Highly recommended.

I had researched Rome hotels for several weeks before booking this hotel a year before our trip. It was a surprise for my husband and our anniversary. He had never been to Rome and I had spent a whirlwind two days as a college student decades ago. I wanted an unique hotel in a central location so we could access all areas of Rome easily by foot. The is the PERFECT location for this goal! We walked EVERYWHERE! The Rooftop Restaurant for breakfast is absolutely wonderful with accommodating and friendly staff. We had a gorgeous view out into the Forum while we enjoyed an ample and varied breakfast buffet. The fresh squeezed orange juice is amazing! I thought we'd spend more time at the American Bar but were so busy sightseeing that we only got to spend one beautiful afternoon tasting two of the bartenders specialities. I miss my passion fruit cocktail!
Other posts have stated the hotel is dated and needed freshening up. I disagree. It is an elegant and classic style hotel with Victorian era furnishings and warm wood throughout. There was a problem with the electric in the wing we were staying one night as someone had plugged too many things in and the power went during the night. A little nerve wracking since we had a 7:20 tour of the Vatican that morning. Staff was immediately on it though. They do not impose themselves unless you have a need but always offered a smile as we passed. We would definitely stay here again but as it is costly for a deluxe room with a view for the amount of time you are actually in it. In walking the hallway and seeing other rooms in the process of cleaning, they appear more than sufficient for what you need as European hotel rooms go. It was a magical week in Rome!

I have been in this hotel more than once, and found it unique because of its mix of location, style, restaurant. Its a classic hotel, reminds me of how traveling was years ago, given the style of the rooms, of the hall, the restaurant. The location is next to via dei Fori Imperiali, half way approximately between Piazza Venezia and the Coliseum. Depending on the room you can have a view of part of the Forum and the back of the Memorial monument. Otherwise your room will overlook a narrow street (basically no view from there), but consider that at breakfast or lunch or dinner, you will enjoy the best view from the top floor where the restaurant is located. That in itself is a reason to book a room with breakfast included or to go to the restaurant for lunch or dinner (on top of that, the food is great).

The rooms are old style, sort of small, but I found the furniture charming anyway. The bathroom may deceive some, but it worked and I didnt care that much about the rest. Rooms are well isolated from noise from the street, thanks to double glass windows. The hall of the hotel is especially nice. Although dark, it has several roman antiquities on show and more. You really feeel the difference compared to modern hotels. There is a sense of old times' atmosphere, you may like it or not, it really depends on your tastes. This is an hotel that "classic" ol-fashion travelers will like. The personnel is friendly, only make sure your room is the one you reserved, if not upgraded. Better to make things clear from the onset. They have a garage service, if you have a car. thats quite useful, although not cheap. Contact the personnel for this matter also.

When you exit the hotel you are basically on via dei Fori Imperiali and can walk along the roman ruins. That is indeed great. On sundays the street is often closed to traffic so you will enjoy it even more. Finally, the hotel restaurant. That is a reason in itself to go to this hotel. Excellent food and very good price-to-quality ratio. Service is perfect. The maitre speaks perfect english (lived in the USA for a long time) and he is not only really professional, but also a wonderful person. The rest of the staff is extremely kind as well. Believe me, the food is very good, especially the fish, which is really fresh and fished (not breeded) from the Mediterranen sea (not so easy to find it so in Rome). The cuisine is great in my view, and considering what you eat, the prices are reasonable. Ask the maitre if there is a fixed-price menu or some discounts for hotel guests. You will pay a minimum of about 50 euros each for eating there, but it is worth it, trust me. They also have a brunch menu on sundays, which is cheaper and convenient (around 35 euros if I remember well). This is money well spent and the atmosphere of the restaurant is just fine, given the superb view you enjoy from there. In the spring-summer there is also a bar open on top of the restaurant, where you can enjoy a drink. If you want to enjoy a good restaurant there is no point in going somewhere else. Otherwise go outside and eat a pizza. Hotels and good restaurants are not cheap in Rome, so, all considered, the Forum hotel is a very good choice for tourists and even for locals to go eat.

Room Tip: The rooms are ok for sleeping, but to enjoy the hotel spend some time in the restaurant or at the ou...

We have been coming to Rome and staying at this wonderful hotel for several years now, so I thought it high time to write a review. What better compliment than to return over and over again? Our most recent stay was from May 16-26. We decided at the last minute to book this trip because the weather in Canada was going to be terrible over the long weekend in May. Well, as usual, never disappointed. We stayed in the lovely Imperial Suite overlooking the forum. I would suggest that you spend the extra money and book one of the forum view rooms at the front of the hotel, as some of the standard rooms can be quite small.Breakfast on the roof provides a stunning view of Rome, you could sit there for hours. The staff are very friendly and courteous. The American Bar on the rooftop is absolutely fabulous with the same stunning view. Paolo the bartender is superb! You simply cannot beat the location of this hotel, all of the important sites of Rome are within easy walking distance. The only improvement I would suggest is changing the pillows to down pillows. We return in 3 weeks time with all 5 of our children and their spouses/partners and our grandson for the trip of a lifetime!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and book a forum view room at the front of the hotel

Forum Hotel is perfect mostly because of its location right near the Roman Forum, Colosseum and the main shop area Via del Corso. It is quite a nice hotel, having the advantage of a roof terrace with a bar open until 11 pm.
The hotel used to be a monastery and it has kept its traditional architecture, that's why the rooms aren't large, but pleasant and clean.
I would highly recommend it, as it is quiet and clean and has a lot of restaurants close by. Regarding restaurant, the greatest in the neighborhood, we thought, was one 200 meters from the hotel, Mario's, a family-run restaurant with traditional Italian food, great prices and amazing food.

Seriously impressed with this hotel after spotting it in the lonely planet. The rooms are nothing special but the central location in the ancient forum is fantastic and the view from the rooftop bar is stunning. There is also a rooftop restaurant which is a bit on the pricey side but the food does make it worthwhile. Super friendly staff too.

Forum Hotel has the best, ideal position in Rome, with the breathtaking view to Colosseum, Imperial Forum and Palatine Hill from the roof terrace where a very good breakfast is served. Highly recommended for people coming for the 1st time to Rome, history lovers, sightseeing explorers, tourists with preplanned ambitious agendas fond of ancient Roman archeological sites.
Generally, do not expect luxury, spacious rooms, as in our case, we booked, payed nonrefundable through Agoda, but the receptionist unsupportive and not serviceable, at first gave us a tiny, small no.104 on the st floor, than slightly bigger room 314 underroof, where we stayed 1 night, w/o any view, old bathroom and furniture hardly 2 stars, the next day, we got another, small room, no.106 where we stayed for 3 nights, gave up and just enjoyed outstanding location of the Hotel (as well as, a very good breakfast and good quality of wi-fi).
