I stayed here for 6 nights in September and had an excellent room on the 9th floor - very large with tea & coffee facilities. The major down- side was that the Terrace Restaurant was directly above and hence very noisy, with chairs constantly scraping on the tiled floor and one of the wait staff walking up & down with noisy shoes each night! Whilst it was annoying, it didn't distract too much. The staff at reception varied from very helpful to very rude, depending on the person.
Used by a large number of tour groups, the reception area was often busy!
Couldn't fault the cleanliness, breakfast was satisfactory but the Terrace restaurant was expensive and the food of average quality only.
Location wise, I found it to be excellent - train station basically over the street, a tour office almost next door, with day tours leaving just outside the entrance. Via Nazionale only 10 minutes walking, 2 Hop-on Hop-off stops within 5 minutes walk and the Colosseum 20 minutes walking.
There was a wide choice of restaurants for dinner within 5 minutes.
Overall, I thought the hotel was good value.More
