We stayed here before our Royal Carrribean Cruise. It is clean, the breakfast is decent and the location is fine, near the trainstation. Its a little bit of a walk to the major sites, but fine for us. I'm guessing it was about a mile and a half. Lots of reasonable restaraunts in the area. The staff was fine. The Royal carribean desk was located in the hotel across the street.

I have never run across such an arrogant and rude reception. The front staff were the rudest ever. It was not a great first impression. The breakfast was good, typical. Our breakfast server was nasty and bossy. We spent the afternoon in the roof top lounge enjoying the sun. We had to constantly flag the wait staff for more cocktails. When we checked out again there was no greeting or how we enjoyed our stay. Nothing. The attitude again was outrageously rude. So, I'd say that the service lacked completely in all departments. Does management read these reviews? On a bright note we were booked in room #1 it was an over the top one bdrm suite, beautiful and gorgeous - the room was simply amazing.

Adequate hotel. Rooms were small but clean. An older hotel not close to the action / attractions.
The staff were polite but not real friendly. The breakfast each morning was nice, quality and good selection, not much fresh fruit. A lot of tour groups. Roof top dinning was expensive and while there was a view it was toward the side away from the key sights. good hotel for the money.

My wife had her purse stolen from the breakfast room of the hotel on the morning that we checking out with a Globus group.dining room stakk and management were not caring and not helpful at all. We strongly feel that it was an employee in the breakfast room who new we were checking out and new we would be gone from the hotel very soon. A police report was filed and a fax letter was sent, and a phone call was made to the general manager all explaining the incident. Since returning from vacation, we have not heard anything from the hotel and we are very disappointed. Hotel security seems to be nonexistent at the Mediterraneo hotel.

This hotel is very conveniently located near the Termini, the main train, bus, and subway hub in Rome. It's also a fabulous example of art deco, with beautiful architectural detail and period furnishings, expecially in the lounge and breakfast room. The marble staircase is just stunning as are the views from the restaurant on the top floor. As part of a tour group, my husband and I had a standard room, which was simple, clean, and otherwise quite nice with period furnishings, hardwood floors, and a marble bathroom. The service staff were friendly and helpful with all of our inquiries/requests. Although our stay was very pleasant, it would have been a little more so if our room was not so near the elevators, which upon arrival on the floor are announced with a bell ding--or if the elevator bell hadn't been dinging at all. In any case, I would stay there again, and highly recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the elevator--the bell dinging can annoy.
