Hotel Mondial

This hotel is situated in central Rome and is within a comparatively convenient walk to most of Rome's majestic sights. The hotel itself is clean and beautifully decorated in a somewhat baroque style, with the bedrooms plainer and more functional. Staff are most obliging and versed in many languages.Breakfast was a banquet of fresh fruit, pastries and meats along with many other tempting dishes and drinks.

My only two small complaints were that the view from the room was disappointing (but you didn't have to go far to remedy that!) and that we had no bath, only a shower. After hours pounding the streets I would have welcomed a hot bath.

Altogether one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in one of the greatest cities in the world. Fabulous.

the region around Termini train station used to have a bad name, but has improved drastically since I last visited 20 years ago. the region now offers some really good hotels, such as the Hotel Mondial (Best Western). located 5 minutes walking from the train station, in a small street of a main thoroughway. it was surprisingly quiet, although it's probably wise to ask for a room at the back. the staff was friendly and professional, the room and the rest of the hotel very clean. breakfast was very good. our room (we stayed 4 days) had all the necessary comfort, although for an American hotel it was strange to have nothing but Italian channels on tv, and 2 French channels. not even CNN. the hotel is close to a metro stop, and within walking distance of many attractions. we highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back, the front is probably a lot noisier.

We have recently returned from a full week staying at the BW Hotel Mondial.

The hotel is located in a side street near the Rome Termini railway station (about five minutes walk) and just round the corner from V. Nationale and the Republica Metro Station. It is thus well connected for the visitor seeking to see all that Rome and its environs have to offer.

Check-in was quick and efficient though check in time is not until 15.00. We arrived late morning but were able to leave our luggage and were offered a complimentary city map to kick off our sightseeing.

Our room was on the second floor at the front of the hotel overlooking Via Torino. It was spotlessly presented and comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights sleep after long days taking in the sights of Rome.

Breakfast was the usual self-service continental affair with a selection of cereals and both hot and cold items. There was sufficient variety that suited our tastes.

As our room overlooked Via Torino, it was not possible to sleep with the windows open as traffic noise continued well into the night and started again early the following morning. With the windows closed however, the noise was largely masked but could become stuffy. Light sleepers might want to request a room to the rear of the hotel.

Our one complaint would be that the hotel TV had no English speaking channels. While we don't sit in our room watching TV all day, it would have been nice to be able to keep abreast of world affairs when we returned to the hotel in the evening.

We had an early morning check-out in order to catch the coach back to the airport and this too was handled efficiently.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, request a room towards the rear of the hotel.

Good location: 1 min busses on Nazionale, 2 min Rebublica M, 10 min Termini. Room and bathtoom renovated, clean, quiet, AC worked, pleasent staff.
Breakfast *** level.
Good trattorias at Princepe Amedeo and Fimiale near the hotel.
Also a good ice-cream parlour beside the hotel.

Room Tip: A room facing inner courtyard is quiet.

The Mondial was clean and quiet, especially considering its location is fairly central in Rome. The train station is within walking distance. So are many of Rome's attractions. The breakfast was okay also. Although overall the hotel was very nice, I was disappointed with a couple of things. First of all, the air conditioning doesn't get turned on until May 1st. Even though I was there in April, the room was still a bit warm and stuffy. The second issue was clean towels. Although we tried to use as few towels as possible, we did leave two on the floor (as was requested for dirty towels) but we didn't get clean towels........ they just rehung the wet, dirty ones!

After spending a night in a crappy B+B in Florence. It was a welcome relief to come to a proper hotel! All a person wants is a clean bedroom and a private bathroom.
The one issue I had was taking the payment as normal then also taking another payment as reservation. This meant I had a chunk of holiday money locked away in Best Western's reservation kitty for 7-10 working days.
Staff didn't inform me on the day and only found out when I checked my account online.
Other than that, great.

The hotel was superclean, the room was in the fifth floor and it was spacious and quite. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty and the coffee machines provides a great quality espresso. The huge advantage of Hotel Mondial is it's location. And all this in a very competitive price. In my next visit in Rome I know for sure where I'm going to stay.
