“Rome for a week”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

Stayed at this hotel on a family Vacation. Its your standard European hotel. Rooms are small, but were clean on arrival and housekeeping did a great job over our entire stay. The mattress' and the pillows are thin. This is just a personal preference but I enjoy thicker pillows. Breakfast was as all the other reviews described pretty basic. I would be nice to have a piece of fruit on offer with breakfast apposed to just carbs carbs and more carbs. We had no water on one of the mornings, sounded like they were doing construction next door. I went down to the front desk and was told by the staff member on duty he would find out about the water. No apology given just walked away from the desk. Not the best customer service on his part. But I do have to say Massimo who worked on the evening shift was great! He was super helpful with any questions and was a pleasure to chat with. He made our stay very enjoyable, maybe he should teach the morning staff a thing or two about hospitality!

Dear TheRealCB,
Thank you for your review of our hotel. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to inform other travelers of your experience with us.
I'm happy to hear that you've received excellent service from Massimo and that you enjoyed his service and I will be sure to share your kind words with him.
I will be congratulating him on a job well done
That one morning you had not water, it was not more than 10 minutes and it did not depend by the hotel.I apologize for this minor incovenience you had.
The person at the desk that morning (well known to be one of the nicest person I know) left the desk to ask what was going on since he didn't even know there was no water,I'm sorry you had a different impression.Maybe you could ask the gentleman who was with you (in the other room 301) who helped him with the internet connection in the lobby and chatted with him about AS Roma while you were out.
I look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in Rome!

Best Regards

Claudio Felici

very friendly staff, breakfast is rather small but thats the way it is in Italy... Nice Hotel with room for improvement but nothing to seriously complain about...
Tip: try to get a room on the 4th floor where you get a small balkony

although I probably would not stay here again, I would still recommend it for someone needing a cheap hotel in a convenient location. When we checked in it was around 10 am, and our room was not available. we were in the process of getting our clothes out that we wanted to change into, when the front desk clerk said our room was ready. So I recommend anyone checking in early, if you wait in the lobby for a bit, you'll get a room quicker (Front desk clerk doesn't want you just standing around). If not, you can leave your bags in a bag room, but I did not like this idea because it was unguarded and anybody that went in the room to drop off their bags could easily go through someone else's bag or walk out with it.

The room itself was not impressive, but the ones in Europe for our price range rarely are. I was surprised to see how big the bathroom was compared to the main area. My only gripe with the bathroom was there was no counter space, but that is normal. The bed was slightly hard but at least we had our own air conditioning unit that we could leave on all day so the room was nice and cold when we came back from our hot day.

The hotel breakfast is not exactly what I would call a "breakfast", but something to just munch on before you get real food. The servers are very nice that continuously smile and serve you any drink you would like, but you are seated family style at a large table with other people and given a plate of bread. On the plate are 2 hard rolls and 2 sugared croissants. That is the extent of the breakfast. No meat, cheese, cereals, or oatmeal. You have butter and jelly and some crackers to go along with it but it seriously is just bread and whatever you choose to drink. You could very well ask g for more than just one plate, but how interesting is bread? so we basically use this as a chance to get coffee/tea and to just take the hunger off before we went out.

Overall I'm mentioning all the bad, but it was located in a nice section of town, near beautiful churches .... but more importantly within walking distance of the Termini main train station, and in between two stations on the A & B line . It was a 5 minute walk for any train line...... so the price and that convenience was worth staying there.

Room Tip: make sure when you walk in that your air conditioner works, that was my favorite part of the room wa...

Dear Babychild2,
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your words.
We take all comments into consideration and welcome any opportunity to improve.
We are happy to hear you appreciated the early check in, enjoyed your stay and the quiet and convenience of our hotel, we agree our location is ideal.
The sizes of the rooms are indicative of the typical European three-star hotel and in this case specifically their historic origins, this is not yesterday’s just built Holiday Inn.
We're happy to hear you enjoyed the air conditioning as you had some perfect weather during your stay.
The continental breakfast includes: fresh croissants, bread, all kind of jams, nutella, biscuits, crackers, cereals, coffee, cappuccino, tea, hot chocolate and red orange juice.
That’s what we call a typical Italian breakfast (seriously a very big one) and it’s clearly advertised everywhere on the web.
We are glad to hear that you've received excellent service from our breakfast staff.
I will be sure to pass along your compliments to Luigia, Silvia, Rosi and Raffaella
Thank you so much for choosing our hotel.
We're happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, even with some minor inconveniences that we have shared with our staff. We look forward to seeing you again when your travels bring you back to Rome.

Kind Regards

Claudio Felici

Stayed at Tirreno Hotel a few days before and after my family's Mediterranean cruise. Exactly the type of hotel we were looking for. We wanted something that wasn't like the fancy hotels in the states. It's on a small quite street, but is located perfectly to the termini and a good majority of the top attractions. Quite a few really good restaurants near by too. Staff was friendly and always helpful. If I come back to Roma, I know where I'm going to be staying.

Good choice for a family of three just trying to see the major sites of Rome in a few days. Quiet street, close to Termini train station, the Colosseum, and subway. (Vatican is a 20 minute subway ride from the stop nearby.) Two or three very good restaurants right across the street if you're tired from walking all day and don't want to make dinner another adventure. Free breakfast is not a gastronomic event but is OK and it saves a lot of time and money. Small bar in the lobby is not a social scene but good to grab a coffee or nightcap, and the patio is a quiet place to relax and listen to the bells of the nearby churches. I'm used to slow wifi in hotels but this one kept losing connection altogether even in the lobby--otherwise I'd be giving five stars.

Room Tip: Elevator is small and there's no view anyway--get a room on the lower floors.

After over a week in Italy, this hotel was as expected. I think most hotels in Italy are over starred by one compared to North America.

The goods:
Location within walking distance to almost anything
Appeared clean
Front staff friendly

The bads:
Breakfast limited to bread and jam
Noisy outside
No a/c
Recent half attempt at renos from a 70's look.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write us this review on TripAdvisor.
Our prime location allows you to keep close to where you need to go within a walking distance.
We were pleased to hear that the staff was able to make your stay excellent by being friendly and helpful. I will be sure to pass along your compliments to Massimo,Corrado, Gennaro, and Michele.
I'd just like to clarify that all rooms are air conditioned, clearly now with 18 C° outside during the day and 6 C° during the night the system is still working on heating.
We're happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, even with some minor inconveniences that we have shared with our staff.
Thank you again for recommending our property and we look very forward to welcoming you back soon!

A small, simple, quite and clean hotel, close to the Termini Station (less than 10 minutes walk)and the Colosseum (less than 10 minutes walk).
Quite rooms and nice Italian breakfast. Wlaking distance even from city centre if you like to walk.

Room Tip: probably better on higher floors to get more light
