“Well worth the $”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

As mentioned in other reviews the Patria Hotel is a "...good basic hotel". It is fine for all but the most discriminating travelers to Rome. Excellent location to see Rome and in walking distance of most tourist attractions, buses, trains and subway. There is free Wi-Fi in the lobby, and it was used by many of the guests. In your room you have to pay for it, but the cost for one day (5 hours) is minimal. The time begins when you log in and stops when you shut down, so the total 5 hours was never used up. The room overlooked Via Torino - which is not a busy street at night, thus no noise problem. Breakfast was the usual Italian fare; the staff most pleasant and we would stay there again. It is a very good value for the cost of the room. jr

This hotel was the last stop of our Italy vacation; It was "basic" but nice. The location is good for getting onto the Metro, walking to the Railway/Bus station. The staff was very nice and helpful.
We were given the 5th floor room, which we took elevator to 4th floor and walked the stairs. The rooms were obviously smaller but no worries. The breakfast was good & room was clean. Minimal noise. Our last night was spoiled by being awaken by cigarette smoke coming from the next door room. Smoking is prohibited in the rooms but there are ash trays in the rooms?!?
I would recommend it for location, nice staff and good breakfast, but hope they enforce the No Smoking rule, and remove the ashtrays in the room.

Thanks for the review,
unfortunately the Italian law provides for the prohibition of smoking for only clichés, and not for the rooms d 'Hotels that are considered private places.
We, we could ban it via an internal regulation but would be difficult to control and possibly penalizing clients.

Location was great, situated a few blocks from the main metro and bus station. Very basic but nice hotel. Charged for Wifi, which in this day and age is ridiculous, I think. The staff at the front desk were nice although they insisted we pay cash for services when we checked out. Breakfast was very good with small but nice options. Linens were cleaned daily. Overall, nothing but good experiences and memories at this hotel.

Thanks for the review,
the wi-fi service is provided free in the lobby of the Hotel and is charge in the rooms.
The account can be paid either in cash or by credit card, probably at the check-out you are having problems to debit the account on the credit card, so it was necessary to pay in cash.
Thank you
Angelo

We stayed for 4 nights when visiting Rome for the first time. The hotel is well located, within easy walking distance of the main Railway / Bus station & also close to a stop on the various hop on, hop off bus tours. The staff are friendly & helpful, the room was very clean but the en suite was quite small. Breakfast is typical continental fare with rolls, croissants ,cereals, coffee & tea but quite adequate for most people. There is plenty to see within a reasonable distance of the hotel on foot or using the bus tour. If we go back to Rome we would stay here again.

Stayed at the hotel both when arriving Rome inbound and later when leaving Italy.
The hotel is located about a 10-15 minutes walk from Termini, the main Railroad station in Rome.Termini is the end station of the Airport train in addition to being the location of the bus station and start of several tourist/sightseeing/regular buses. These a 10 minutes walk away. The Metro is also nearby. Several attractions are within walking distance .
Rooms are ok and clean, sizes varies so check this. Street noise was not much of a problem at night.
Wi-Fi only in lobby area where they also have an available PC and you can print outfrom there like e.g in case you check in on line and want to print out the boarding pass.
TV had only one English speaking channel, BBC if you want to sit Down watch TV after a strenous day of walking and sightseeing.
Breakfast buffet ok, as you find i most Italian hotels. Only serving breakfast but there are many restaurants /Places to eat just around the corners.
Frontdesk personnell speaks English very well and are very helpful. Other personnell is also helpful but do not speak much English.
In general , an ok Place to stay.
A tip,buy a ticket valid for the Whole day valid on buses and the Metro(Subway) . It takes you around the city and you can jump on and off a you please and can save you Money unles you opt for the much more expensive prearranged tourist trips.

Great hotel for the budget traveller. Located 10 min by foot from Rome main train station Termini (express train from Fiumincino airport) or by metro (1stop) at Republica station (500 metres from it). Small but rooms are clean and have fully working airco, shower, safe and a small tv. The only downside is the wifi that is 'not' free and that's a shame cause Rome has 2 things that are not easy to find... ATM's and free-wifi spots! The Metro system in Rome is probably the worst in Europe's most visited cities (very bad connections) so be prepare to walk quiet often. Breakfast is complimentary, basic but ok. Street is quiet although located 50 metres from a main route. Staff speaks English and are friendly. Baggages can be stored. A nice ristorante (Target - NOT the supermarket ;) is located right next door (pizza/soda/dessert for +- 25€). I paid 68 € for 1 night in a single room. Overall a good value hotel within walking distance (except the vatican) of all major sights. Ciao (be aware that Rome is refreshing all of its landmarks, ALL of it, so a picture without construction works in progress is a NO)
