“A Highlight of our stay in Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

My wife and I stayed here to celebrate my 30th birthday and the success of her tv show HIT THE FLOOR. It was the first stop on our vacay and generally our first international hotel. We absolutely loved it. Mind you it is small, but it is very clean, modern and centrally located. Right by the metro and legit 5-10 minute walk to the colosseum and trevi fountain. Stafe was nice and by far the best breakfast provided at any of our hotels. I was obnoxiously obsessed with the bruschetta they had in the morning. People made it sound like there was barely anything available for breakfast. Ummm eggs, meat, waffles, pastries, juices, water fruits….Im confused were they expecting gold laced eggs and hash browns. More than enough to get you through the day. In conclusion this was a legit highlight of the hotels that we stayed at. To be honest Im a snot and I have high expectations with hotels. I was happy here as was my wife.

Dear Guests,
many thanks for the nice comment you left on your stay in our hotel. We are happy to know that we have been a Highlight of your stay, it's very important to us that you keep good reminds about us as it means that our efforts have been appreciated.
As you told our location is superb as we are as walking distance from Colosseum, Roman Forums, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Patheon and many other sites, while the Metro stop is only 30 metres from the hotel and brings you everywhere.
Thanks for appreciating our buffet breakfast proposing hot and cold drinks as you have well described and the 'bruschetta' (toast bread with dressed fresh tomatoes) is part of the typical italian cuisine, cannot miss the fresh fruit, we are in Italy!
Our staff always assure a warm welcome as we are a family hotel and do the best to help the guests during their stay.
We would be happy to welcome you again, for your next reservation please see our best offers that you will find on our Official Website.

Nice hotel in a nice location. We had a room for three that was very large, clean, and well- equipped. The room (and the hotel in general) looked rather new. They also have a big apartment that is an excellent alternative for families or group of friends.
Breakfast was very good. Personnel at the front desk was very welcoming and helpful. They really make a difference.
The hotel was a bit expensive, but considering this is Rome...well, it was reasonable value for money.

Dear Guest,
many thanks for the review you have left. We are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay at the Duca d'Alba Hotel, thanks for appreciating our rich buffet breakfast proposing a wide choice from hot meals (scrambled eggs with bacon and tomatoes with wurstel) and cold (ham and cheese, fresh fruit, fresh bread and toast bread, marmelade, honey, cereals, pies and croissants and other...). As you could verify our staff is very kind and helpful, their task is to make your stay as comfortable as possible, they really make the difference.
The location is our best feature, so close to theh Colosseum and Romas Forums, you are at walking distarnce from the main places of interest and the area where we are is very typical with its trattorias, bars and pubs is full of life even at night.
Regarding our rates, the months of September and October is very very high season in Rome as April, May and June, but if for your next trip to Rome you will check our website, you will find and choice among many special offers that will grant you some discount.
Kind regards

We stayed in the Duc d'Alba for three nights on a recent visit to Rome. Other reviewers have remarked on the convenient location, within walking distance of the Colosseum, Pantheon and other major tourist sites. The metro station (Cavour, line B) is only 50 metres or so from the door, which in turn is one stop away from Termini, where the airport buses have their stops and gives access, with one change, to Vatican City. The hotel is in Monti, a very pleasant neighbourhood with many good bars and eating places close by.

Despite all this, the hotel room was quiet and any street noise could not be heard in our room. We stayed in a standard double, which although compact was nicely decorated, with a good en suite shower room. The room was comfortable, standards of cleanliness were high throughout the hotel and the breakfast was good. We found the staff to be courteous and ready to help with directions and other local advice.

We would love to go back to Rome for another visit and if we do, we would choose the Duc d'Alba again.

We recently spent 10 wonderful days (September 22-October 3) at this beautiful little hotel. We selected it because of its location. It's great for public transportation ( less than a block from the Cavour metro station, the llittle117 electric bus stop, and a number other bus lines that we didn't even need to use). With a Roma Pass or transit pass, we could and did go everywhere we wanted to go. The beautiful neighborhood was a happy surprise. Just one block from the busy Via Cavour, the narrow, cobblestone streets seem a world away. It's two flights below the Via
Cavour, so it is quiet, and in the late afternoon and evenings, a refreshing breeze bathes the shaded streets which abound in restaurants and quaint little shops. We stayed in room 109, a junior suite, which was surprisingly roomy. With a double bed and two singles, it would comfortably sleep four, and the beds were very comfortable with beautiful Perugian bedspreads. There was also a walk-in closet and a nice-sized bathroom with both a tub (a little narrow but still felt good after a long day sightseeing) and shower. It had recently be redecorated, and the maids (both named Anna Maria) kept it immaculately clean. The room also had excellent sound-proof windows. We were on the street side right above the "Irish Bar" and never heard a thing. the air conditioning worked well. It shut off whenever you left the room, but cooled off quickly upon return. Angelo was very helpful at the desk as were Christian, Romal, Elisa, and Tatiana. They all spoke excellent English (Elisa and Tatiana also spoke Spanish, French, and at least one more I don't remember and seemed able to switch from one to the other pretty flawlessly. They happily helped me when I sometimes used Spanish, French, or even German (all in the same sentence) while struggling with my Italian, and they were happy to offer good advice on restaurants and shopping. Breakfast included eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, meat and cheese, and fruit juice, even hot cocoa, as well as the traditional rolls and coffee. All in all, we were very pleased with the service and accommodations and would happily stay there again.

Advance planning can be the difference between a good and bad vacation experience. But, because of the honesty of my fellow TripAdvisor reviewer's, planning paid off. This little property packs a big property wallop for those wanting to maximize their Roman holiday experience.

I began a few weeks in advance of our arrival sending inquisitive emails to the staff. I inquired about little things; hair dryers, car rental drop off locations and the like. My queries were always responded to promptly with the the utmost in email cheerfulness; usually from Elisa or Tatiana. After all, if you can't get something as email as a prompt email response, what can you expect if the a/c goes off? (On that count, the a/c worked great!)

We arrived in the late afternoon on Saturday October 6 after 5 prior days in Tuscany. Our mission, 6 nights in Rome. Our choice, the Duca D'Alba. We arrived, ditched the rental car because the Metro and bus lines were ridiculously close to the hotel and became Romans for the week.

Now, if you are looking for huge rooms this isn't your place. But, if you are looking for a high quality feel, in rooms with all of the amenities you could want and impeccably clean, this is your place. The room was 'cozy' (that means on the small size) but 'hey,' we were in Rome to see the sights, not chill in the room. Because of prior posts we asked for a room up a few floors and in the back as to avoid any possible noise from the nearby Irish pub. We had room 206 and it was awesome. These rooms are incredibly quiet. Ours was near the elevator and we NEVER HEARD IT; NOT ONCE.

The location, in the Monti neighborhood, clearly has the bohemian feel. Plenty of tourists but also a very eclectic and young crowd of locals hanging around the fountain, listening to music and sipping on a cold one. Pizzeria's, bars, trattoria's and other establishments abounded and we frequented a few. I'll post separately on some of the best. You could stay within a one block area and never have to leave to get a good meal.

The hotel had a great little breakfast room; pretty standard fair but lot's of fresh bread and other baked goods, desserts, fruit, olives and such. Cold cuts including salumi's and cheeses as well as some scrambled eggs and bacon were always in abundance. Even better than the food itself was the atmosphere and the precious ladies and young man, Remil (excuse spelling) who always served with a smile and were eager to please.

Back to the front desk. When we arrived we had the assistance of a wonderful young man who processed our check in. I am embarrassed to say that I have forgotten his name but like everyone, he was incredibly helpful. The concierge Angelo, a man of 19 years experience at the property, wielded his knowledge of the area like a finely honed blade. He dispatched our fear and trepidations about directions, bus lines, attractions to see and so forth like the master he was.

A trip to Rome is not something we can do regularly and requires a lot of planning for us to execute. The staff at the Duca D'Alba made every euro we spent there worth it. We thank God for them all for making us feel at 'homa' in Roma!

We miss you. With love and blessings, Joe and Dawn. Binghamton, NY USA

Room Tip: Go up a floor or two and towards the back where street side noises can be avoided.

I had a wonderful stay at Duca D'Alba Hotel from Oct. 8-11, 2013, and I would definitely stay there again.

The location is phenomenal. I walked everywhere, except taking one easy subway ride to the Vatican City (and then walking a meandering route back to take in several sights). I loved being able to walk the 5-10 minutes to the Colosseum any time I wanted, and enjoyed having multiple lovely restaurant options right around the corner.

The size was definitely tiny - I had a single room, which had a bed that was quite small, but not bad by European hotel standards. The bathroom was nice enough, though definitely no room to stretch in the tiny shower stall, and they could use a bit stronger lighting. There was a mini-fridge in the room, which was convenient, and the free wifi was reliable and very convenient.

The best part of the hotel, in my mind, was how very welcome and well taken care of I felt. I never hesitated to ask for advice on where to go or what route to take, and the staff seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that I had a wonderful time. It felt more like a Bed & Breakfast style of service than a hotel, and I loved it.

Overall, definitely a hotel I would recommend.

We stayed for three nights at the Duca D'Alba and we're very pleased with the location of the hotel and it's ease to get on the Metro and walking distance to the Coluseum and ruins. The breakfast was not and fresh and offered a variety of options. The room/bathroom was clean albeit small. Would recommend for your stay in Rome.
