“Excellent Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2014

Had two nights seeing the rugby and Rome. Excellent clean small single room albeit simple but good bed, good shower, toiletries, minibar, safe, nice staff. Breakfast was included - not fantastic but OK but after got great coffee at cafe next door. Room was warm but window and blinds do open to let in the breeze (ask staff if you can't figure it out). My room was at the back 708 looking over the city. Very close to Metro (really cheap all day Metro and bus tickets), taxi rank, buses or brisk walk to the Coliseum and centre. Wake up call was on time, taxi showed up. Breakfast food and coffee is the only reason I did not give 5 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for back room high up

Service was efficient;room was clean, bed comfortable. The room is typically small but;you're in Rome so what are you doing in your room.
Unfortunately I was in Room 702,facing the front and the main street.I could not adjust room temperature(it just blew hot) had to open window and unfortunately let in all the noise, buses, ambulance, and concomitant big city sounds. It was not a restful sleep for a 6:00am wake up and subsequent flight.

Room Tip: Sort of out of the way and most definitely a residential neighborhood in a big city.Suggest you make...

I recently went to Rome for 3 nights and stayed in this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful! The breakfast was yummy and a good variety to choose from! The metro station is very close and will take you all over the city for only 1euro! We walked everywhere though! the colisseum was only 15 minutes walk and from there you're at the doorstep to the city! Great hotel, very clean and comfortable! Would highly recommend it! (one tiny complaint-it was very noisy the traffic outside goes non-stop, so bring earplugs for sleeping!)

I agree with many of the other reviews of Hotel Piccadilly - rooms are quite small, but they are quite clean and modern. We had a room that faced the Vatican, so we had a beautiful view of the city every morning. Staff are very friendly and helpful, always greeted us with a smile and were willing to assist us with any questions. All of the big sites are within walking distance (Coliseum was about 10 minutes or so away), but the hotel is just on the outskirts of the busyness so it's a little quieter. Some great restaurants around as well.
Good value for dollar, would recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice hotel to stay while being busy out and about in Rome.

My colleague and I stayed here for one night whilst visiting Rome on business. We arrived fairly late in the evening and were looking forward to getting to bed as we had an early meeting the next day. I had booked a twin room through a third party site but when we arrived at our room we found it had one double bed. We went back to reception to let them know we didn't have the right room and the woman at the reception desk could not have been more unhelpful and rude if she had tried! Instead of attempting to sort out the problem, she just kept arguing with us in a very aggressive tone - saying that because a twin room and a double room were the same price, it was basically pot luck what we ended up with. She told us there were no more twin rooms available but refused to book us a second room at the same rate we had paid for the first one. We asked if we could speak to a manager and eventually after a long wait in reception, a twin room became available and we were able to go to bed.

So that was the main factor that put a cloud over our stay here. However in addition the hotel just isn't very nice - it is bearable if you just want a cheap place near main attractions and don't intent to spend much time there but it does have quite a depressing feel about it. Whoever was responsible for decorating the walls with brown textured paint that looks a lot like something unpleasant should probably re-think their career! Bizarrely although the rooms are very basic, small and dank, the bathroom by comparison was really good - very modern, huge double shower head - strange contrast in design! Unfortunately the complementary toiletries did not include any conditioner so bring some if you intend to have clean, untangled hair during your visit to Rome!

Finally I would like to pass comment on the breakfast. Not good. The picture on the website is very misleading - it looks like you get a decent spread of nice fresh food - sadly not the case. The coffee tasted like it had been standing there for hours, the juice was definitely not fresh, the toast looked and tasted like the cheapest bread imaginable, the eggs looked like they had already been digested and our request for soya milk was met with an unapologetic refusal.

The view from the breakfast room was pretty good though so as long as you are not hungry you might find it ok.

Room Tip: If you book a twin room it is worth contacting them prior to your arrival to double check that this...

Great hotel with very friendly staff. Nice clean rooms, not very big but nicely decorated and modern. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a great selection of food. View for the resturant was great. The location was great as we were a 20 min. walk to the collosium and headed out from there to explore all the sights. If you wanted to take transit there was a bus stop right across the street and the Metro station was 500 metres up the street. Lots of great places to eat close to the resturant. Our favorite one was a right turn out the door of the hotel to the first street then right and it was on the right. Great food at a good price. A supermarket was right across the street to grab cheap wine, bread and cheese for those sit back and relax times.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel. You can see St Peter's from there and it is much quiete...

We stayed here 3 days prior to a cruise and just loved it. Small rooms but clean and a modern bathroom. Very friendly staff, coffee machine in lobby was broken but they never hesitated to get us coffee anytime we wanted it. Good buffet breakfast and nice breakfast room. Also great location and nice sidewalk cafés, try Alex's and Nevada's. Metro and bus line are very close.
