Enjoyed the tour with Irene during our october visit. She is another of the valuable members of vino roma and has the same high standards - for food. We had a delightful 3 hours, with just one other couple, in her company, through the historic center of Rome. Got to understand what we are eating, what is on offer, why and how. Recommendable, also for getting restaurant recommendations for the rest of your stay.

We have done afood tour in almost every city we have visited, this ranks certainly at the very top. We got an overview of the neighborhood (testaccio) we stayed in, the history of the area was explained, we found great places to do our food shopping and got great food to taste. The interaction the guide had with all the vendors was great, it made us feel like we have been living here longer (instead of just 10 days!)

We did the Food Tour with Hande on our first day in Rome and it is definitely a great way to learn about the city. One of the things that drew us to this particular tour is that they offer tours on Sundays. Do note that the tours on Sunday are a little different from the ones that are offered during the week (since some stops are not open on Sundays).

We started off with some coffee and pastries. The next stop was a farmer's market that had some unbelievable offerings: cheese, meats, vegetables, honey, gelato, etc. What was great about this was that you got to meet the people who made the cheese, cured the meats and basically were the source of their offerings. We were basically stuffed by the time we left the market.

Next on the itinerary was a visit to the Jewish Ghetto. We had a reservation for a wine and cheese tasting at Beppe. Great experience and a nice introduction to some cheeses we have never tried before. After this, we went for our second round of Gelato.

Overall a great experience and wonderful way to learn about the foods of Rome. Hande is also a great resource for restaurant recommendations as well. We had some great experiences at the restaurants she recommended for us.

If you are planning a trip to Rome, make a tour with Irene de Vette of Vinoroma your first and MUST NOT MISS stop. Irene and her colleagues at Vinoroma have the magic touch: history, humor, knowledge, and an introduction to Rome's culinary and cultural riches that was just a dream. Oh, and the food itself: a feast.
