“RomeDrivingTours”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

If you are looking for a car and driver in Italy, I highly recommend RomeDrivingTours. We hired them to meet us at our hotel in the center and take us to Positano and then on to a private tour of Pompeii. They also made the arrangements for Pompeii for us. Our driver, Manuele, was punctual, professional, and great company. Elena, their booking agent, made the process easy and was very attentive to our needs. This was a great day!

“Fabulous Tour Agency in Florence!”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We hired Rome Driving Tours to meet us at our cruise ship dock and give us a private tour of Florence/Pisa. Our Tour Guide, Michael, promptly met us at the designated time and place and was easity identifible. He spoke perfect English (due to an American mother) and had a wonderful personality. We were vacationing with our three adult "20 Something" children who easily conversed with him throughout the trip. He showed us the most important sights of Florence and navigated the town easily so as to maximize the time we had in port. In addition, he showed us the lesser known parts of Florence that were off the beaten track. He took us to a wonderful restaurant in Florence where the food was exceptional (and the entertainment even better). He was able to take us directly into the Academi Gallery to see the David easily bypassing the long lines that were in front of the ticket office. The price for a full day trip with a guide was very reasonable and we could not recommend this agency and the tour guide more. We would rate both an A+.

“An absolutely super day with Max our driver and Maximilian our Vatican Guide.”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We booked this shore excursion with Elena from Rome Driving Tours, based on great Trip advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed.
My husband and I were picked up from the quayside at Civitavecchia by our driver Max, who is an amusing, knowledgeable and pleasant man. He was full of interesting facts and always happy to answer questions. Our tour was arranged to be flexible as I have walking difficulties and walking needed to be minimal. We spent the morning driving round and looking at the ancient monuments and sites. Max stopped the car when we wanted to take photos or he needed to tell us more about a site. We saw many more sites than I thought possible in one morning.
For our visit to the Colosseum Elena had suggested that we get 'skip the queue' tickets and we were so pleased she did. Although we had to wait about 15 minutes because of the number of organised tour groups skipping the queues, it was a lot less than the poor people without these tickets who must have waited at least 3 hrs to get in. It was a shame that the Trevi Fountain is being renovated and it was impossible to throw our coins in the fountain. I can't remember when Max said it was due to be finished and the barriers removed.

I loved the best kept secret... a view of St Peter's Basilica through a keyhole of a door in a lovely square belonging to the Knights of Malta.

We could have chosen a restaurant lunch but instead opted for a snack... Max suggested visiting the oldest pizza makers in Rome, in Campo di Fiore where we had the best pizza we have ever tasted, before visited the adjoining market.

Elena had arranged a private guide for our visit to the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica. Expensive, but worth every penny! After lunch Max liaised with Maximilian, the guide and we met him outside the Vatican Museum. Max explained that the museum was very busy because it was a Saturday and also the day before a very big church feast day. They had heard that the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica were to be closed early so Maximilian would concentrate on the most important exhibits to ensure we got to see the Sistine Chapel. At the Vatican Museum we again had 'skip the queue' tickets and walked straight in with the help of Maximilian who seemed to know all the security guards personally! Maximilian was an awesome guide. He was very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He gave us so much information. His enthusiasm really caught our imagination and made the whole visit so much more interesting. We had plenty of time to look through the museum and didn't feel rushed. As promised, Maximilian got us to the Sistine Chapel in time and explained the significance of the paintings before going in. Then waited for us as we appreciated the awesome ceiling.

After we had finished at the Sistine Chapel we went to St Peters Basilica. Again Maximilian guided us around it and pointed out important features. After taking more photos we went into St Peter's Square where we joined Max for a final drive round the city of Rome before going back to our ship.

“Italy Holiday by Rome Driving Tours”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

Hi Elena,

We returned to Hong Kong after 5 weeks in Europe. It was a very busy and hectic trip for us all. Your drivers are very attentive and supportive. Therefore, I can only give them the 5 for their excellent service. I shall be in touch again for our tour for next year.

Thank you for the arrangements.

“3 different drivers... 3 great experiences!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014

We used Rome Driving Tours in Florence, Rome, and Naples last month when on a Mediterranean cruise with our family. To start, Elena was extremely helpful when we were booking our drivers and planning our excursions ahead of time. Each driver was very knowledgeable, prompt, friendly, and flexible... catering our days according to our interests and what we wanted to do and see in each location. We were able to do quite a bit each day! And, we really loved the drivers' recommendations for restaurants. They made any needed reservations for us and never made us feel rushed. It was obvious that they wanted us to have the best possible experience. We will recommend Rome Driving Tours highly to our friends!
