“Started off on wrong foot, but they set it right”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2011

I am going to list some of my issues and then how they helped rectify.

After some difficulty finding the hotel, based on walking directions posted (numbering and streets signs are not plentiful in Italy), we checked in and were nicely greeted, however when we got to our rooms, ready for their free beverages, ours were luke warm, our sink was stopped up and our phone did not work. We rented two rooms and our other room, the blowdryer did not work. The next day, our toilet would not stop running water. It was not a great first impression to have to call a few times and sometimes more than once.

We also got a bit frustrated when we were told we could get a cab to the airport with a credit card. We were trying not to have Euro on us due to being from U.S and only had $47 which was just shy. I asked if they could just charge me $5 more to my bill, since we were in the midst of paying for our rooms and give it to me in cash. They said no. However, after 15 minute wait and tight on time, were told no one would get us with credit card, so I would have to get ATM withdrawal down the street. So, ended up with an extra $5 fee, foreign exchange fee, etc.

In our second room, we had some very noisy nieghbors so my daugther called down twice and no one came to the door and she did not hear phone ring, since she could hear their entire conversation, she would know if phone rang, so in her opinion, they ignored it or had an issue understanding her.

However, I was willing to give them another chance since we were there 4 days and it really is a nice place overall and they were very hospitable.

True to the reviews written, they do know a thing or two about customer service, we might have just been an isolated incident. They were very helpful with directions, restaurant recommendations, when to get cab vs walking, etc.

Rooms were very quiet, slept well and were clean/nice. They have a fabulous breakfast, as others have mentioned. It was the most plentiful of all the places we stayed.

All in all, their customer service shined through and helped to drive a stronger rating, even given my issues. When we forgot an item in our room, they found it and mailed it to us internationally free of charge - very, very nice gesture and that alone, makes me want to try them again.

This hotel was more than we could have expected during our stay in Rome. The room was immaculate, the staff was helpful and kind, the breakfast was hearty and the rooms larger than you would ever expect in Europe. This hotel does all of the little things well which makes your stay much more enjoyable. Some examples include complimentary drinks (water, Coke, beer, etc) in the room replenished everyday, fresh sheets and towels daily and quality and plentiful toiletries. The hotel also is two blocks from a Metro stop as well as 15-20 walk to most tourist attractions. You truly could not ask for a better hotel to stay at while visiting Italy.

We stayed for 4 nights in March 2011 on trip advisors recommendation and were not disappointed. However the first room we had only had a small bathroom with no bath only the smallest shower I had have ever been in. We asked to move if possible and Mario said they would try. We left our bags packed while were out for the day and we had been moved on our return. Larger room with a bath. Both rooms were spotless and at the rear of the hotel so very peaceful. First class breakfast. Visit Est Est Est closeby on Via Genova in for excellent food.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the Hotel for quiet

Hands down, this was the best hotel we stayed in during our three week trip to Europe. The room was absolutely fabulous and the breakfast buffet offered a huge variety of food including hot dishes, cold cuts, and a variety of breads, cereals, and fruit juices! The room was immaculately clean and the bathroom was huge. The bath robes and room slippers were added unexpected bonuses! It is in a fantastic location on Via Nazionale, only about a 10-15 minute walk from the Termini Train station and centrally located to many of the popular sights in Rome. Learning how to use the local bus system is fairly simple and the bus stops are only a few blocks away from the hotel entrance. The hotel has wireless internet throughout making it very easy to utilize web resources for directions, restaurant tips, and bus directions. If you are heading to Rome, I highly recommend choosing the Hotel Artemide for your choice of accommodations!

My family and I recently spent four nights at the Artemide. I chose it based on the amazing reviews and the price, which was very reasonable for a hotel in Rome.

We arrived by taxi and were met at the door by several helpful porters. Due to our overnight flight, we arrived several hours before check-in time. Alessandro at reception told us that our rooms would be ready in about an hour and sent us to the "restaurant" for complimentary breakfast. As noted by other reviewers, the complimentary breakfast was a delicious feast of pastries, fruit, juices, coffees and teas, eggs & bacon, cheese/meats, etc. After breakfast, we were escorted to our rooms by the porters who explained the particulars of the rooms.

The hotel is, indeed, quite central and a ten minute walk from the main tourist attractions - except for the Vatican. Around the hotel are neighborhoods with excellent family-owned restaurants. Right up the street is the train station and Piazza della Republicca. Right down the street is Trajan's Markets.

Rooms were serviced in the morning and tidied in the afternoon. Beds were turned down and a little piece of chocolate placed on the night table each afternoon. Requests were addressed quickly and competently. Each of our mini-bars was restocked daily and it was nice to have beveraages and snacks available after a long day of sightseeing.

The staff was friendly and courteous at all times. Alessandro, Matteo and Pino were all gracious and efficient hosts.

Overall, Hotel Artemide is a great place from which to base your Roman adventure.

I will note that Via Nazionale is a bustling city street which is noisy at all times. Additionally, it is not as charming as some of the smaller neighborhoods near the Spanish Steps or Piazza Navona.

Marvellous well run hotel where it felt that everyone was there with one purpose and that was to make our stay as enjoyable as they could. They succeeded..... No hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who values great service.

Room Tip: The reception staff are wonderful

The hotel itself was in a very good location, although, in truth, Rome is so large and full of wonder, that any hotel will be quite close to something you will want to see.
Walking is certainly the best way to see the city, but the transport system is good, so you don't have to. The hotel is only a few minutes from a Metro station.
The room was a bit small, but was clean, tidy and had everything we could have needed. Besides, you will probably spend so little time in the hotel it won't really matter.
Although not cheap by general standards, it's very reasonable for an establishment of this quality in Rome.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, although we wary of the tours they promote because better deals can be found elsewhere. Other than that, the service was excellent. Would certainly stay again.
