“Perfect stay in the heart of Rome”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

Very central to the heart of the historic center in Rome where you have good access to Colosseum, Vatican and the metro station. The hotel was very accommodating to us and made our stay very comfortable and pleasant. The staff was very helpful and gave us some good recommendations for restaurants etc. The hotel restaurant and morning breakfast were great too :)

From the very first email I sent asking about getting rooms close enough for our kids, every single interaction I had with Hotel Artemide was helpful and positive. We couldn't get connecting rooms, but they were close enough on the same floor. A fruit basket waited in one room and a bottle of wine for me and my husband waited in the other. This on top of a free mini fridge restocked daily with water, juice and soda.

We had a heat wave during our visit so it was so nice to come back at the end of the day to a nice, cool room. The air conditioning made the heat far more bearable so we could go out, sightsee and retreat to cool down. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were huge (though no matter how we used the shower there was always a pool of water on the floor)

To say the breakfast was generous and varied is an understatement. There is a great deal of variety every morning so no need to go out for the day without being satisfied. The rooftop restaurant was really quite good as well but there are also a number of great restaurants nearby.

We walked to most everything from the hotel. The Spanish Steps are about a 15 minute walk with a wonderful museum on the way (and if you get the Roma pass, it's free and a nice place to duck out of the heat and see some gorgeous art)

My family of 5 cabbed to the Coliseum but if we'd not been so tired from a four hour Ancient City walking tour, we could have walked back as well. Honestly, most things were about a 15/20 minute walk from the hotel (though Rome is a hilly city, think of it as a way to work off the delicious food you're going to be eating all day). if this is your first trip to Rome just take care crossing streets! Rome takes traffic into a whole universe of its own :)

The hotel arranged for our transportation to the airport, which was really helpful as it was quite a ways outside the heart of the city. They also made recommendations for places to eat and other things to do nearby.

The neighborhood the hotel is in has great shopping. There's a fabulous bookstore across the street and a few blocks up. There's a lovely outdoor cafe/bar just at the end of the block as well. It's a wide boulevard with some traffic noise, but our room, while giving us a view of other buildings, was off the main road so it was nice and quiet.

All in all, Hotel Artemide was a really great home base as we ranged all over Rome (which is such a marvelous, high energy city). We'll definitely be back in the future.

Room Tip: For a quieter room, ask to be put away from the street. The views aren't as nice, but it makes f...

We have recently returned from Rome, staying at this hotel for 3 nights.
Prior to arriving all the email communication was prompt and questions were answered fully. Cannot fault the service we received prior or during at Hotel Artemide.
We are a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children, staying in the Superior Triple Room that had a king size bed and a sofa bed that the children slept in. The room was generous with an internal door that slid across at night, seperating us and the children, whilst being in the same room. The room also had a lovely balcony. The room was without fault even has a free mini bar!
The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was full of choice and without a doubt the best we had in Italy. Highly recommend trying the ricotta cheese they bring around and put some honey on top - its delicious!!
The first night we had free drinks in the rooftop bar/restaurant and stayed there for dinner. The food was beautiful, would happily eat there again.
We booked a Vatican trip through the hotel, a private tour with another family we knew staying in Rome at the time. It was perfect.
On recommendation of a friend we bought tickets for the CitySightseeing Roma hop on, hop off bus. The ticket was valid for 48 hours and you could hop on and hop off as many times as you wished. The first day we did our Vatican tour in the morning and then picked up the bus from the stop close to the Vatican (stop number 6). We proceeded to explore the Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and finished the day at Piazza Navona for dinner. The next day we visited the Colesseum, having booked our tickets on line with audio guide. Highly recommend this, our children are aged 7 and 9 and happily listened to the audio guide throughout our time at the Colesseum. Children were free. We booked tickets for 9am, got there 20 minutes prior, avoided the queues as we had pre-booked and we were finished an hour later. From there we went to Palantine Hill/Roman Forum then picked up the CitySightseeing bus again at stop number 3 and stayed on the bus for a round trip, getting off the second time around close to our hotel.
We would certainly stay at Artemide Hotel again, the service, food, staff and room were perfect.

Room Tip: First floor room with balcony is great with children, it is a little noisy but didn't affect us...

What impressed me most about this hotel was the friendliness of the staff. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful and everyone in the breakfast room was so cheerful and falling over themselves to serve us. The room was very clean, beds were very comfortable and the free mini-bar items were a great bonus. The hotel was located in a very central area. I was amazed at how quiet the room was (not typical for a European hotel in the middle of all of the action.) I would definitely stay again!

The hotel featured large rooms and plenty of complimentary items to make you feel at home. The small refrigerator was full of beverages & hotel offered free wifi. Staff was very fluent in many languages and gave great advice. The hotel has a personal car/driver to escort you to the airport. Excellent value for the price point.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of July. The service and facilities were excellent with staff very helpful and happy to assist with restaurant bookings etc. the breakfast was also excellent and made a good start to the day. The location in via nazionale is fine depending on what you want to see. It is a good 20 minute walk to the main Rome tourist attractions, but if you have already seen these it's not an issue. The only negative was our room was at the front on level one so the street noise was an issue with the windows open. Not a problem with them closed.

Room Tip: I would stay at this hotel again but would request a room at the back.
