“The perfect hotel!”
Reviewed 28 July 2013 via mobile

My husband and I recently stayed at the Hotel Artemide for 5 nights for our first trip to Rome. They gave us a beautiful room on the 4th floor with a beautiful balcony overlooking Via Nazionale. There was a bottle of red wine with a nice card for us since we were celebrating our birthdays while there. The rooms have a mini bar which is FREE and that was a wonderful bonus (juices, pop, beer, water bottles). It was restocked everyday. Our bathroom was huge and had a jacuzzi tub. The room itself was very big given European standards. The hotel was very quiet too! The best part of the hotel was the awesome breakfast! The breakfast buffet was incredible! Hot items and cold with very healthy and fresh options. The wait staff was exquisite as well meeting our every need. They even walked around offering fresh ricotta. It was delicious. There is a nice rooftop bar/restaurant as well. It's located on a nice street with many shopping and eating options within walking distance. It's located in the city center so we walked to many of the top attractions including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon (do not leave Rome without seeing this) and many others. Too far to walk to Vatican City but it's a quick cab ride. There is a nice little restaurant a few blocks down from this hotel called Ristorante Petrucci- the food was absolutely delicious and a must go to. The hotel arranged a nice airport transfer for us as well. Bottom line is you can definitely find cheaper hotels than this in Rome but this is a beautiful hotel that was well worth the extra money. Glad we picked it.

The Artemide is a fantastic hotel in central Rome. The only way to see Rome is by foot and once you find your way around, everywhere is within reach. The rooms are all clean and well serviced (the inclusive mini bar was welcome after a long day too!). The roof top bar and restaurant provides wonderful views and a great place to chill out. My only hesitation in recommending the Artemide is that everyone will go there and we will struggle to book in next time!

Reasonably central location, comfortable, air conditioned rooms and a great daily breakfast included, make this a sensible choice for a Rome hotel. Not quite up to the four stars it boasts however . . .

The service is irregular - great on the front desk but inconsistent in the rooms and the upstairs restaurant. Bathroom facilities are somewhat below expectations with an inadequately shielded shower (that ends up with water on the floor) and no face cloths or bathrobes provided. And the mattresses are less comfortable that should be expected.

But for a limited stay - and the promotion that was in force at our stay (of three nights for the price of two), this is an adequate hotel.

Thank you for your stay here with us and we are glad that over all you found our hotel a good choice. However, we are rather baffled by the reasons you have provided as to why we are not 4-star material.

Firstly, we would just like to point out that we have been judged as a 4-plus star hotel. We are sorry if you felt that this establishment was not up to our rating, but perhaps you are not well acquainted with the national hotel standards. As we have already gone into detail on the 4 star rating system, we will not do so here. Let us simply say that we meet all the requirements but go out of our way to provide more services and “goodies” that are not required of a 4-star hotel. As proved by the majority of our past guests’ review, our high standing is heavily based on the quality of our service and our attention to the needs and requests of our guests, making our service more personal and welcoming. We do this to make our guests’ stay more pleasant rather than to get a rating.

So we were glad to hear that you met this standard of service at least with our Reception staff and that you appreciated our lovely breakfast spread. However, when you say that the service was “inconsistent in the rooms and the upstairs restaurant,” we are unsure what this exactly means. That the service of our housekeepers was not as pleasant? Or that people who helped out somehow in your room (maintenance, room service from the restaurant, or floor service), did not provide such excellent service? As we are unsure what service in your room, we are unable to respond. However, apart from the maids who are always cheerful though not always having a masterly grasp on the English language, our staff is trained in all areas to provide our highest level of customer service-this includes the restaurant staff.

As for the other particulars, if we had been made aware of them as they were happening, there was a solution for all! We would have sent up a member of our maintenance team to investigate your splashing shower (as that is not up to snuff and must be controlled anyway); washcloths are available upon request; bathrobes are found in the Superior class rooms, but can easily be procured by asking our Reception if so desired; the mattress, if firmer than preferred, may be softened with a memory foam pad. One has but to ask and we will do the possible to accommodate your whims and preferences!

We thank you once more for your feedback as it helps us always to perfection the stay we offer guests, giving us an idea of what our guests think about certain aspects of their stay with us. Furthermore, we are able to tell our future guests the answers to all the questions that you did not ask.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for four nights at the start of our two week Italian getaway. No other hotel in the remainder of our travels compared. Every staff member is focused on your needs. They are very genuine in their efforts. I spent 10 years in sales for a large U.S. based international hotel chain and am rarely, if ever, impressed by the service at any property so this is a rare review for me. You will begin your day with a wonderful breakfast that will keep you going until dinner (with a gelato and cafe mixed in throughout the day). The true gem of this property is the breakfast manager Pasquale. We were 4 people, 2 adults and 2 teenagers so we booked 2 rooms. The rooms are clean with great amenities. We were able to walk to all the special tourist attractions.

We stayed at the Artemide Hotel for one week in July. The location is excellent; convenient for all attractions either on foot or by Metro. Our room (401) was extremely comfortable and amazingly quiet. The bed was just right and we both slept wonderfully well. The air-cooling works efficiently and is also quiet (rare in most hotels). Staff are friendly, attentive and polite whether on reception, the breakfast room, the roof terrace bar or in housekeeping. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a turndown service with sweets in the evening, delicious fresh goats cheese ricotta at breakfast (great with honey), fresh fruit flans and pastries, excellent food in the restaurant, lovely grappa at sensible prices...I could go on and on. This is a high quality hotel which represents fantastic value for money. We will definitely be back here when we are next in the fantastic city of Rome. We can't wait.

Room Tip: We thought that room 401 was lovely and cannot imagine that it can be bettered.

It was the perfect hotel for us. Staff was awesome, very helpful and friendly, the hotel is clean, in a perfect location. I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. This was our first time in Italy, and I was not sure if the hotel was going to be located by most of the sites we wanted to see. Yes it is. Most places are walking distance, if not the metro is very near by, 5 minute walk. The bathroom was a nice size!! and really nice decor. The maid service was excellent, our room was spotless everytime we returned, and I'm sure that was not easy, because it was a room with three messy girls. The bartenders were very nice, and mixed excellent drinks. Renato and Roberto were awesome.Have Renato make you a Margarita...You won't regret it. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Nice hotel, friendly staff, this will be my go to hotel in Rome.
