“Great location, great service, great value add”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2013

The hotel is well located - nearly all major attractions are within walking distance (except Vatican city) and Repubblica metro station is just 5 min walk. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast, wi-fi and mini-bar brought a lot of convenience to our trip. However, the room is a bit small and old and the pillow is not that comfortable. Just on a side note, I found nothing spectacular about the rooftop restaurant/bar. All in all we would love to stay here again.

This hotel was located in central Rome. It had an excellent staff and had junior suites available for families. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. The rooftop bar/restaurant was awesome. You could sit indoors or alfresco. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

What a lovely hotel, the staff were great and the whole experience very enjoyable. We were welcomed with glasses of wine and there was also a bottle of wine in each room and a free mini bar that was restocked daily!!
The public area is fresh cool and a great place to relax in (tea and coffee provided there too) the food was lovely and served in the rooftop restaurant. Huge choice at breakfast something for everyone all fresh and plentiful.
The rooms are not huge but have everything you could possibly need great attention to detail and very comfortable.
The hotel is very close to the Colesseum and the Trevi Fountain is only a short walk too so perfectly situated for sight seeing.
I highly recommend the Artemide and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: our rooms were at the end of a short corridor and were very quiet.

Booked over the Internet. Few months in advance. The hotel was quick to confirm the booking and helped with a problem we had over a stolen credit cards.
They provided a complimentary bottle of champagne for my brother in law who was 50 during our stay. What a nice touch. I would fully recommend this hotel no wonder its do high on tripadvifor. Thanks Valentina you made my stay

my husband and i recently had a weekend stay here for my 50th birthday and would like to share what a wonderful time we had. the hotel was ideally located for visiting many of rome's highlights. the room and hotel were beautifully decorated any spotlessly clean. As it was my birthday the management gave me a lovely bottle of wine and there was also a free mini bar and a complimentary glass of wine on arrival. The staff were extremely friendly and informative. we are hoping to visit rome again as we did not get to visit all the place we wanted too, and will certainly will look to stay at the Artemide again!!!

Just stayed two nights in this wonderful hotel. All the previous posts explain it well so I won't repeat. It was better than I expected. The hotel online photos don't do it justice. You will enjoy it here.

Ok so if you are travelling with younger children here are some tips.
1. This time of the year Roma is hot. I saw loads of people with red skin walking around. So pack the sunscreen, hats and even bring a small umbrella. The street vendors are selling them as they know people need them in this heat.

2. The walk to the Colosseum is the hottest and most challenging, so book a night tour instead if possible. We walked from the hotel around 9.30am and by the time we arrived and with the 20 min long queue the kids had already had enough. The cost per person is 8 euro, this covers the 3 venues, ie the Colosseum, the adjacent Forum and the Palatine hill and once you buy the ticket, it is valid for one visit within 24 hours. So you can buy the ticket the day you arrive and then just fly past the queues the next day. We downloaded a couple of audio apps before we came, so we didn't need a guide to take us around. But there are dozens of guides who will approach you near the base of the colosseum if you prefer to go that way and its not a huge extra cost for this service. It's just that a few years ago I took a guided daytime tour and I found it a bit long winded and sometimes hard to hear what the guide was saying. So after half an hour I quietly snuck away and did my own walk.

2. Take a break from the heat and pre-book from home the Tour of Palazzo Valentini, Domo. It's not too far from the Colosseum (about 7 min walk). I won't tell you too much, as it might spoil your fun, but the kids and we adults really loved it. You can find it listed here on Trip advisor as a great venue to visit.

3. The fountain of Trevi was our first place to visit. It's about 10 mins walk from the hotel, and tucked down inside some little lanes. If you look carefully you might notice some small street signs pointing you to it. We arrived around 9am and there was a crowd of maybe 100 people, which is ok, we got loads of family pics. Our tourists will happily take your pic if you do the same for them. But the following day we returned at 3 pm and the throng of people was so thick that we could barely keep an eye on each other. So go early or later at night.

4. I contemplated bringing a stroller, and in the end decided against it, but in fact I saw a few mums and kids getting around everywhere in Rome. You can even go inside the Colosseum with it. So if you need it, I say bring it along.

5. Villa Borghese was my kids most favourite venue. If you walk to the top of the Spanish steps and walk up the hill (about 8 mins) you will arrive at the most beautiful view of the city from here. Walk 20 meters and hire a 4 sweater bike. We paid 12 euro and got the 3 seater, but the front basket we sat our 6 year old. She was so excited to be sitting on the front. We cycled for one hour all around the park and even through the main road over to the other park. This was a fantastic way to stay out of the sun and have some fun family time. Beware, the public toilets were hard to find, so I suggest you buy a drink and sit in the lovely garden cafe near the carousel and use their toilets. Actually the public toilets in Rome eluded us, we had to hold on for hours at times. I was told later that Bars must provide toilets for public use. So on one occasion I went inside a bar and asked dove il bagnio? Pronounced doveh il banio, and was told to go upstairs. Their toilet smelled so disgusting we decided to taxi it back home.

5. I read that the Vatican museum queue was better in the afternoons, so we trotted over there at 4pm and found that the last intake is around 3pm. So we missed out. Don't try to walk it like we did with the kids, it's too much, just get a cab. It will cost you about 14 euro in heavy traffic.

6. The hotel told us about the Green line hop on hop off bus, so we booked it thru the hotel but had to pay the driver in cash direct. It says the bus takes credit card, but they refused it. Family of 4 for two days costs 80 euro. Not worth two days and don't take this bus line. The bus stop is far from this hotel and the company is less than friendly. They drive straight past the great venues, so you have to be very fast with your camera. also my audio didnt work properly. Yes children under 5 are free but the bus guides bark at you that your child must sit on your lap for the entire trip. I saw a red bus all over Rome. You should hop on and buy a 24 hour ticket, it's a nice way to see the city. But take note that they don't operate at night and the top of the bus is partially covered so it can get hot on top but even more hot on the bottom.

Hope this helps you a little.

Enjoy Roma xx

I had great time in Rome and in Artemide hotel. It is on major street, close to the train station and walking distance to many attraction. The employees of this hotel are amazing, especially the front desk and breakfast crews. In summary:

The good:
- Good location, with easy access to the airport by train
- Close to many good restaurants
- Great service at front desk, they will really help you with any arrangements and reservations
- Breakfast is heavenly and includes lots of options
- Free minibar that includes water, juice and soft drinks, restocked daily
- Not a major chain

The ok:

- Rooms are quite small and you will most likely not a get a great view
- The price was paid was way too much, but hey, you live only once
- We did not at all enjoyed one recommended restaurant, all others were fine

I really suggest you take the “Vespa” tour. We had an awesome time.
