“Excellent hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

We spent a long weekend in Rome in early October and choose this hotel based on reviews on tripadvisor. The reception was very friendly and helpful at all times of day and night - and there was always someone available. Breakfasts provided a huge choice and although busy, my coffee cup was always filled without asking. The rooms were very clean and welcoming. The lift in our part of the hotel was a little small for my wife, daughter and their many shopping bags but it meant I got a bit of exercise each afternoon.

We visited the Artemide in early October this year. Having read some of the reports on trip advisor talking about great location and fabulous staff. We could't agree more. Great hotel very high standards, ideal location for the city centre highlights with a concierge team who couldn't be more helpful, oh and the breakfast is first class as well!

We were initially a little disappointed that our superior double room didn't quite match the photo-impressions on the website. However, we asked for an extra chair, which appeared within minutes, and with this extra comfort any disappointment soon melted away as we settled in and enjoyed our 6 night stay in this very affordable, quality hotel conveniently located in the historical centre of the city.

All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional, but I must give a special mention to the staff servicing the rooms. Often careless servicing is the downfall of a good hotel, but not at Artemide where the room was spotlessly clean and each time we walked in it was the same standard as when we arrived.

The buffet breakfast offers an adequate array of choices, with added temptations proffered every little while by the wait staff. Don't miss the fresh ricotta with honey, or some of the delicious cakes. The breakfast staff also deserve a special mention for their cheerful, pro-active service.

A nice surprise was a birthday treat from the hotel; the staff had noticed from my passport that I was celebrating my birthday while in Rome, and on the day a bottle of prosecco and birthday greetings arrived in our room.

Another nice touch offered by the Artemida is the free mini-bar, refreshed every day.

Finally, make sure you avail yourself of the hotel's limo service to the airport - scarcely more expensive than a taxi, but much more comfortable and pleasant in a spotless Mercedes sedan.

This is a hotel that makes an extra effort to ensure you feel at home and enjoy your stay, and it all happens seemlessly.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room when booking, and that was exactly what we were allocated - a room to the b...

The hotel location is really good--it was about a 20-minute walk to the Colosseum. It is on a vibrant street that has many shops. We ate at the restaurant two nights for dinner. The food was not as good as the restaurant at our hotel in Florence, but we were happy with it. A disappointment was that they closed the fitness room the last morning we were there. I have been a runner for decades and have run all over the world, but I do not feel safe running outside in Rome. I chose this hotel because it had a fitness center, and I was planning on using the fitness room every morning because I am training for a race. My only option that morning was to run up and down the stairs, which was not the ideal workout. I felt the hotel was overpriced for the size of the room, but I do not have anything to compare it to because I have not been to Rome before--it could be that the price is in line with comparable hotels.

Room Tip: I imagine I could have paid even more than I did to get a larger room; who knows if it would be wort...

Dear Sir,

We are sorry to understand that your stay with us was not up to your expectations. It is always very important to us to get a sense of why our Guests choose us and what they are looking for in our establishment. In your case it seems that the fact that we had a small fitness centre was a must during your stay. By affirming that you were not able to access the gym on the morning of your departure, we have been able to locate your reservation in our system. It is in fact true that we had to close the gym for some works one morning. As a matter of fact our staff had positioned a notice on the door specifying that the regular maintenance works were going to take place between 10 AM and 5 PM. Being the check our time at 12 PM, in fact, you would have been in able to use the gym before 10 AM absolutely with no problem. Furthermore, we are sorry to understand that you have not felt safe to run on the main street where we are located. As a matter of interest, we would only like to advise our future Guests that Via Nazionale has many shops and security cameras, without counting the fact that having the Ministry of Interior just round the corner means that police is always around, and many Guests and tourist prefer to run up and down this street than use the running machine in the gym. Of course we understand that all Guests might have different needs when exercising, we would only like to reassure our clients that Via Nazionale is a safe street.

Coming now to you room, we would only like to confirm that the room you where assigned was a Classic Double room as per your booking. As described on our selling websites these measure 15m² and offers a Kin-size bed (180x195); these are normally standard measures for city centre hotels. However, we also offer different types of accommodation which differ in size and which might be more appropriate for someone in need of more space. As for the rates, please note that October is high season per excellence in Rome, therefore all hotels downtown higher their prices, as such, the rate that you have paid was certainly in line with those of our competitors.

As for the restaurant, not having had a proper example on your side to why you did not particularly like it in the two occasions that you have tried it, we can only assume that your comment is due to personal taste. On our behalf we can only say that our menu is extremely varied and that our chef prepares personally all the dishes with fresh ingredients. Furthermore, for information, Italian cooking varies from region to region; therefore it might be possible that your personal taste was more akin to Florence’s Tuscan style cuisine than Rome’s.

Chose this hotel because of review on Trip Advisor, and now I am adding my own recommendation because our expectations have been exceeded in every area: cheerful, helpful, fluent English speaking staff, excellent food, both the best breakfast buffet we have seen in Italy, and good restaurant on the rooftop terrace. Our room was great, impeccably clean, and as others have noted, the location is excellent. A fine experience.

We recently stayed at the Artemide, after coming off a 14 night Mediterranean cruise, so I had gotten used to being a bit spoilt !!! The Artemide did not disappoint !!!! From the warm welcome to our view out over the via nazionale. Location was great, close to all the major attractions plus many new places to discover. Breakfast was awesome lots of delicious choices & we were even offered cake of the day for breakfast. Rooms were spacious, clean & well appointed with a bonus of a free mini bar that was restocked daily . The rooftop terrace restaurant Ambrosia was lovely & our waiter Sali was wonderful & helped us navigate the menu. I cannot wait to return to Rome in the future & we will stay here for sure

Stayed here with my wife for a few days and was impressed. I have traveled to Rome many times before, but it was my first time at this hotel. First, the price made it an incredible value for the location. Second, the location itself is perfect. You are within walking distance to every major attraction in Rome. Third, the rooms can be a bit small but they are ultra clean and modern. They actually provide a refrigerator with free drinks during your stay in the room. Seriously, who does that in Rome? Anywhere? Third, the staff are friendly and really try to be responsive and helpful. Fourth, the actual building is architecturally intriguing and easy on the eye. The rooftop restaurant and terrace are a great plus. The service and food are excellent and you get a nice view of Rome. In sum, you will not find a better Hotel for the money in Rome. I almost want to kick myself for this review because I don't want the prices to go up once people find out just how great this place is.

Room Tip: Try the Rooftop restaurant for a meal or simply have a glass of vino on the terrace overlooking Rome...
