“Great hotel”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed with husband and 11 year old daughter in Sept 13. We loved the room and the free minibar! We loved the sophisticated contemporary bar area where we could sit outside and drink an aperitif. The toiletries were great in the bathroom - I've never had hand sanitizer in a bathroom before. Breakfast was good. We didn't eat here, preferring to follow a taxi drivers recommendation - la carbonara - amazing! As others have said it's not the nearest hotel to the attractions but overall a good location and a great hotel.

The hotel proved to be perfect for our needs. The staff were friendly and helpful. An unexpected bonus was the restaurant on the top floor, which served some of the best food I've ever encountered in a hotel. Our room was newly refurbished (top floor, near the restaurant but perfectly sound-proofed).

Being so close to the train station I had been concerned about the location, however this proved to be groundless. Although the hotel is quite a walk from the main sights, if you take full advantage of the public transport and tourist buses this is not a problem. The closeness to the train station has the advantage that most transport routes pass close by and day-trips out of Rome (we went to Pompeii) are more accessible.

Booked this hotel for a three day birthday / anniversary break after reading reviews on trip advisor, five minute walk from train station, on arrival we were told that our room had been upgraded, a lovely room, flat screen tv, mini bar, jacuzzi bath, overlooking via Nationale, as others have stated, 2 complimentary glasses of prosseco on arrival, in addition in the room, a complimentary bottle of red wine from the manager together with a hand written birthday card.
At breakfast the following morning, they brought in a birthday cake for my wife, as we had eaten a great breakfast ready for the days walking, they said it would be kept in the fridge, and to ask for it when we got in from our sight seeing, on our return to the hotel in the evening we went to our room and asked if they could send the cake up, ten minutes later the lady brought it to our room, and then also brought in a trolley with a bottle of Prosecco in a silver ice bucket and two champagne glasses, and another handwritten card for our anniversary.
All the staff in the hotel were extremely friendly and nothing was to much trouble. and as others have said the free mini bar is a great bonus, no need to buy bottles of water etc, several reasonable bars and restaraunts nearby.
Having worked in the service industry for the over forty years, i know about the practice of delivering great customer service and exceeding the customers expectations, however this hotel is one of the very few places i have ever seen it in practice, the management must be very proud of the team there.

We arrived by taxi from the train station. We were greeted by Rosa who informed us that we had a room upgrade. What a wonderful surprise for our first visit to Rome. Our room was on the fourth floor and faced toward a courtyard - not toward the busy street. It had a wonderful king size bed, beautiful bathroom, couch and desk. Mini-bar had no charge and was replenished each day. The breakfast and breakfast room were fabulous. White table cloths and so many choices to eat. Little surprises were brought to the table. We ate dinner there too and it was very good. If we return to Rome we will definitely choose this hotel again.

Room Tip: We're not sure if the rooms that face Via Nationale are noisy. Our room was very quiet.

We stayed for 4 nights during October. Unfortunately, our room overlooking a stairwell and other buildings, so no view of anything really. Aside from this we had a lovely experience. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a lovely treat of well presented choices from pastries to more traditional bacon, eggs, omelettes etc. Here the staff were also really helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great value. The location of the hotel was very central and we were able to walk everywhere within the city centre from there. We would definitely return and this time look forward to a slightly better positioned room.
