We have just spent 5 nights at the Hotel Artemide in Rome and had a very pleasant experience.

Prior to our arrival the hotel answered all emailed questions promptly and efficiently.

When we arrived we found the hotel (which is in a pretty building on the busy Via Nationale) to be beautifully and modernly renovated with very friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately we don't speak any Italian but this wasn't a problem as all the staff we encountered spoke English very well.

The location is good with most of the major sights a relatively short walk away. There is also a nearby Metro station (Republica) which can take you to St Peters on the other side of the Tiber.

The hotel is quite boutique (perhaps 50 odd rooms) so you weren't assailed by tour group hordes nor ever waiting long for the lift.

The room was obviously newly renovated and throughout our stay spotlessly cleaned daily. The free minibar in the room was great. The hotel even swapped their regular "full strength" soft drinks selection to diet drinks for us when we requested. The air conditioning worked well which was a relief after hot days out and about in Rome in July.

The business centre with printer was useful as was free wifi in the rooms. The lounge area was pleasant and comfortable and became a guest focal and meeting point for the two World Cup semi finals.

Breakfast was also included in our room rate and was a good selection of healthy foods. The selection was the same daily however every day a "special treat" was prepared by the chef and offered around the room by a waiter; Tiramasu, Profiteroles etc Yum.

On our final day we had a late flight out of Rome so the hotel gave us a complimentary later checkout (1pm) then still allowed us to use the lounge/business centre as required until our taxi to the airport. They even offered us showers at a co owned hotel several streets away (but were unable at this premises as it was fully booked this night)

There is also a rooftop terrace where you can use your welcome drinks vouchers.

We didn't try the spa or gym downstairs.

The only minor negative could find was the rooms were a bit small but feel this is probably common for Rome Hotels in old buildings.

Overall a hotel experience which we couldn't fault.

My children and I spent two weeks in Europe. I planned and booked all of our travel, hotel and excursions. The room was large and comfortable for the three of us --including a tall teen. The daily complimentary snacks were helpful and the breakfast served downstairs was just enough. We arrived early on a Sunday and immediately went sightseeing! The hotel is tucked into a shopping district, but there are also nice and reasonably priced restaurants tucked on the side streets. As a single mom traveling with two children I felt safe and the service staff remembered us and gave great suggestions! I've sent other family and friends there too! The elevator was small but fun! Hotel is perfect for walks to the Colosseum and the fountain. I was actually there May 2013, but I am just now having a moment to catch up on my reviews!

Room Tip: I used booking.com and got a great rate!

Hotel Artemide is an absolutely fantastic hotel. We was on our first year anniversary, and Maria upgraded our room to make it that extra bit special. The room was really spacious. The mini fridge was all complimentary and they even left an anniversary card and big tray full of complimentary fruit in our room. It was like they knew we were big fruit eaters!

Maria was so helpful, she prepared us with maps and informed us of the locations of everything. She even informed us of the tours, the local subways and even knew the buses which went to certain places. Everything is so close to this hotel, the location couldn't be anymore perfect.

We booked most our tours with Rosa and every question was fully answered. We knew one morning we had to get up really early for one of our tours. When we told the hotel members, they brought breakfast to our rooms for no extra cost, just so we had something to eat in the morning. If we didn't want the breakfast bags in the room, they would of kindly left it in reception so we could of ate it on the tour bus.

This hotel definitely went the extra mile with everything.

Mario was helpful when we were checking out, he made sure our bags were kept safe while we went on our last day shopping spree.

Everyone is really friendly at the hotel, they always greeted you when you entered and left.

This is the first hotel I've stayed in that made our time feel special as a couple.

I'm already asking my husband to take me back to Rome next year!

Stayed here for 3 nights before a cruise and found the hotel very comfortable indeed. We had a lovely spacious room on the first floor with a very stylish bathroom, spotlessly clean and quiet despite overlooking a very busy street. Most of the major sites are within walking distance, too. Free snacks and minibar made a very refreshing change! Excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. We arranged a taxi to collect us from the airport, too, well worth the 40 Euros.

This beautiful hotel property is well located on the Nazionale boulevard within walking distance of great affordable, but high quality shopping, and walking distance to the Baths of Dioclesius, piazzas and the Roman Forum. Beautiful, sleek and highly modern in old Rome. My teens loved it for its high tech and modern decor, not to mention the great buffet breakfast worth 2 meals in Rome. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and provided excellent service. Fabulous find among so many properties one can choose from...would return without looking elsewhere!
