Got to say that the service at the reception of Hotel Oxford was superb. The receptionists were all super friendly, spoke English and helped with any queries we had especially about the area during our 5 day stay.
The Hotel is located quite near to Termini station, about a 10-15 minute walk away, so travelling within the city or even to areas around it is quite convenient by metro. All the major landmarks we found are within a walkable distance, may take up to possibly an hour but you get to see a lot more of Rome above ground.
Rooms are a reasonable size and clean. Nothing really special but does the job nicely for a one week trip.

The only reason this is not 5 out of 5 for me are a few potential drawbacks for other travellers. The lift and the staircase were a bit on the small side, but that is to be expected for a hotel located so close to the city centre.
Breakfast was good quality but was the same everyday but was the same food everyday so it could get a little repetitive over a long trip.
Finally the restaurant in the evening was a little lacking in quality especially for the price you paid for dinner, so would not really recommend going there, but that doesn't really matter seeing as there are plenty of places in and around the city which you can get a great meal at.

Overall, the hotel itself met the standards we expected, so we would stay there again.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be fine. If travelling in a large group with an odd number, would recommend a tri...

Overall the hotel is of a good standard, but around 3 rather than 4 stars.
It is a clean hotel and the staff polite and helpful. Breakfast was good and enough variety for most tastes.
Our room was small, needing some TLC with worn out dates decor and chipped walls. But, it was very clean and bed comfortable. I would not have tolerated it had the cleanliness met my standard.
The location is in a quiet residential and business street, however a mile from the Spanish Steps.

This quirky hotel offers everything for a Rome city break.
Friendly staff, who try to speak English are very helpful, and will tempt all customers to sample local wine, beer and even the most tasty lemonade I have ever enjoyed! The dining area is cosy and the food is delicious.
The narrow corridors and stair case add to the hotels charm and we loved it but less mobile or larger people would probably find the corridors difficult. The lift is amazingly small but does the job, although we preferred the stairs!
The hotel is well placed to find all the main Rome attractions.
We found our room and the service to be first rate and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Our room did not face the road, and was quiet. Although the road is not a main thoroughfare, there w...

We, a family of four, recently stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Oxford in Rome. On arrival we had a warm greeting and were asked to accept a complimentary drink at the bar while our room was prepared. We were then shown to our room -The stairs to the floor were narrow but not an issue- and our luggage was already there. We were in a four bed room that was pleasant if a little quirky. The room was L shaped and on entry to the room the bathroom was on the left and to the right was a narrow ''passage'' like area with a mirror on one wall and one bed on the other beyond that was the main area with 3 beds. The room was not spacious but similar to rooms at other European hotels and as the idea is to be out and about in the day would it matter? It was a pleasant and well appointed room that fitted well for the 3 nights.
We did use the restaurant and food was OK for dinner but the breakfast was most welcome with fruit juice; cereals; tea coffee; an assortment of meats and cheese; breads; and bacon; egg etc. In all the type of breakfast offerings found in many European Hotels.
The staff were pleasant and friendly and very helpful.. When we asked for directions we were given a useful map of Rome with the location we wanted marked . Taxis were ordered for us and we never had but a few moments delay.
As our stay was over a Sunday and we had noticed that some restaurants were closed we asked for the location of one nearby and were directed just around the corner to Brancanleon - a visit that we did enjoy.
The Oxford Hotel is rated as a 4 star by the local issuing authority. Did the hotel give what we wanted - Yes; Would we stay again - Yes.

The staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed the evening bartender, a Romanian, who was very attentive and suggested drinks we wouldn't find in the states. The hotel is in a nice area and very easy to catch a cab or walk to the nearby sites. The metro system in Rome isn't very handy anyway. The room was quite large. The desk clerk offered for us to stay in their other building which apparently had really nice, large rooms, but we found the room with in the hotel to be very accommodating and chose to stay there. Overall, it was a very nice experience!

Room Tip: We stayed in a corner room and had a balcony overlooking the street. I think the corner rooms are b...

If we want to discuss the ratio 'price to quality' the hotel deserves 10 stars (and I am usually very tight in giving out stars). Why do I say this?!... We were greeted at the reception by Francesco, who was very kind and professional, whom proceeded to give us a wonderful and quiet room. For what I paid, I had a very pleasant stay. I will soon return.

We booked our first family trip to Rome through BA and this hotel came recommended so we chose to stay there. We were not disappointed; the hotel has an excellent service and staff are extremely helpful and prompt in dealing with problems. Rooms are kept very clean. We were there for a week and would be happy to return to this hotel.
