“Great place to stay!”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

This place has a great location and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful! The building is old and gorgeous but, of course with modern amenities. The location is right up the block from the Barbarrini metro station and walkable, well to everywhere, but closest to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. The prices we saw fluctuate a lot during the year. We went in Feb and paid a fraction of what it is during high season. One down side...you can´t eat in your room. Sometimes after walking all day I just want to eat something in the room and relax but here they said you couldn´t.

Dear Jaen Spagna,

Thank you for taking the time to write us. Our hotel is indeed very well located and our staff works hard to make your stay a wonderful experience. As you mentioned we do not have a fixed rate given the high and low season like most hotels. On the other hand we do not allow food in the rooms for hygienic reasons, therefore our breakfast room is available all day for our clients in case they bring external food where we also offer drinks free of charge.

For any other questions do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

A.Silvagni

This hotel has a very old world charm and is decadent in its being. However, the location is fabulous!! walking distance from the Trevi fountain, Spanish steps and the metro station is just a ten minute walk. We got a room for 3 people and it was a full suite with a large bathroom. My only gripe with the place was that the Air conditioner wasn't working and it gets really warm in Rome at times. However, for the location, I would want to stay here again.

Room Tip: the new remodeled rooms are definitely better than the older ones.

Dear Guest,
thank you for the feedback about our Hotel!
Concerning the air conditioning let us tell You that it starts in May, early May when is very hot, until september and we provide to any request of all our Guests when we receive the requests, of course.
During the winter season it is not possible to satisfy the a/c request because as you may understand it is very cold and our central heating is on, not the air conditioning - as in all the other hotels!!!
We hope to receive your news soon with all your requests!!!
Best regards

Ok let's start with the plus points

The hotel is well located, a lot of the sites of Rome reached within 15 minutes by walk! Metro station, bus route and taxi rank just outside the hotel. We took a taxi to and from the airport with an official Rome cab for a fixed fee of €30, not bad for a 30 minute journey.

The staff were great, Joseph recommended two restaurants during our stay and neither disappointed.

The rooms we stayed in were fine...ok not 5 star but clean, good bathroom and bed, tea, coffee, safe and a well priced mini bar.

The only point I thought was not great was the breakfast..not terrible but food ran out quickly and was slowly restocked, no real hot option, coffee not great.....That said we were not paying a Kings ransom for the room

I WOULD WITHOUT DOUBT RETURN, Joseph you as we say in England "a top fella"

Great location. Hotel very clean. Breakfast excellent, much better than expected. Coffee to die for. The staff were helpful and always available on desk. Our room was small but well decorated and very comfortable, but we were only in it to sleep and get ready to go out at night so it was of little matter. Very close to metro and when walking back at night never felt uneasy.

Our stay at Hotel Alexandra was great. Our room and bath were spacious by European standards. The shower was a little small but it got the job done. The small shelf in the Bath room was quite handy for toiletries. The staff at the front desk were always helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and fortified us for the day. The location was perfect and close to the bus stop and the underground Metro. Many restaurants were near and within easy walking distance. Hotel Alexandra is undergoing a renovation and our room was not one of the remodeled rooms so I am eager to return to see what they do. We felt it was a good place for 4 nights of busy sightseeing days. We opted to pay extra for the stocked in room refrigerator but we were unclear about whether we would be charged after we consumed its contents. They told us at check in to tell them what we had used and it would be replaced. We did not know if they would charge for second fill up of refrigerator so we did not use much and did not tell them we wanted more of anything. I think it was a language barrier issue but it was not a big deal to us. We had a few items we needed to keep in the fridge so it was good to have it. When the window was closed we could not hear the street noise. This is not a fancy hotel but it feels typical European and is certainly above adequate and a good value. When visiting all the antiquities of Rome staying in a modern fancier hotel might have made me feel like a time traveler!

Reviews said stay away from rooms facing the avenue because of noise but we didn't have a problem. Breakfast was very good, eggs, toast, cereal, cappuccino maker and hot chocolate! Cute hotel, close to everything!

Well the location is good, very closed to attractions. Besides, I loved the breakfast, I think the buffet was wealthy.. The room was a bit small and not very very clean.. Actually there was nothing dirty but the bathroom and the room were not the one you feel very free like home..
This is not a hotel I can stongly reccomend but if you ask me what is wrong with the hotel, the answer is nothing.. I can only say that I have stayed in better hotels, but pls keep in mind that the better hotels are more expensive than Hotel Alexandra.. So I think it is a good hotel..

Dear Guest,
we thank You for the feedback and the time you spent to write it...
but we would like to ask you why you wrote that the "...hotel seems not very clean... " but at the same time you said "...there was nothing dirty in the bathroom..."
and then again " this is not an hotel I can strongly reccomend but if you ask what is wrong... the answer is nothing..."
and at the end you say "... I THINK IS A GOOD HOTEL!..."
Sorry if we repeated your words but if nothing was dirty and nothing was wrong why to write this?
So at the end we thank you again to choose our Hotel and we hope to host you in the future so you could see if anything is like you wished, or maybe to make our Hotel better than ever;
if you would like to contact me to explain all your doubts about your stay I will be happy to help you.
Best regards
