Not as close to the terminal as you would expect. The Hotel Le Petit partially uses a large building - sharing with another hotel and private accommodations. We found the reception staff to be very helpful and polite. The room itself was very small - we had asked for a 5 bed room, and were given a double, with fold out settee and a single fold down bed. Great in itself, but in a very small room we were left with only a two foot wide track to manoeuvre. Fixtures and fittings were in good condition, and overall the Hotel was clean. The breakfast room was small, but we found the choice of pastries and cereals sufficient. Central to many of Romes attractions, we were not unhappy at Hotel le Petit but found it to be 'average'.

We stayed there in agust for 3 nights, and everyday in breakfast we felt bad just becouse of the negative behavior of the youngest cleaning lady, who is also working in the breakfast place. i think she hates her job and guests who come for breakfast around 9 am !!! The breakfast was starting at 7 am, and ends at 9.30 am which we found early ! And she was always rude, at 9.15 while we try to eat someting she starts to clear up everything, puts the dishes to the dishwasher in a very loud and noisy way, and grumbles in italian all the time! She was like "why you are having breakfast and making me work..! " by the way as usual it was self service.
Beside, breakfast was poor, nothing fresh only canned goods..
We were couples in Rome and in love, that could easily be happy with anything and never seek for comfort, but that rude and unhappy lady made us remember hotel le petit in a negative way !

What was really good is the location. Close to the train station(termini) and fontana trevi.. We could walk everywhere.

We went here for a weekend, hoping to enjoy some Roman atmosphere. Never again!
Having stayed in many Rome hotels around the Termini area, we imagined that the hotel would be basic, we hadn't paid the earth. Our expectations were crushed when we arrived at this place.mit was in a seedy area, many undesirables hanging around. The stairway of the hotel smelled of kebabs and curries, not exactly what we had been hoping for.
Yes this place is cheap, but I recommend you look at other hotels in some of the nicer side streets of Via Nazionale. We were glad to leave here and even now when we wander past this hotel, we are SO grateful to be staying elsewhere.

Room Tip: Look for a similar priced hotel nearer the Teatro dell'opera. You will find one there for a simi...

Hotel Le Petit is the most perfect combination of (a) great location + (b) reasonable price. We love the rooms with the outside balcony (one on the 2nd floor and one on the 4th, very near the breakfast room). Costs 25 Euros more but worth it. Sit outside after you buy a beer at the lovely store 2 doors down the street. Bliss.
We found all the staff helpful (they called to make restaurant reservations for us, helped us with maps, arranged a car to the airport). The front desk staff speak English; the breakfast room staff are more challenging if you have zero Italian.
We stay here on all our vacations in Rome and have always enjoyed the location.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony are noisier but great for a relaxing drink (purchase from the store nearby).

The location of this place is ideal - plenty of nice restaurants nearby, close to the tube station and bus stops, just opposite the Opera, but in a fairly quiet (well this is Roma!) street.

I have to say that it really is more of a bed and breakfast than a hotel; rooms spread over a few floors. There is a basic reception area with very friendly staff in attendance and a very cramped breakfast area with no external light (and not very friendly staff). So, don’t come here if you like to spend time in the hotel outside of your bedroom!

If you need a coffee or a drink; then there is a café just next door. That was fine for us (gave me exercise!) – but if you like your room service then this place is definitely not for you.

BUT!! We had a great room and we would go back to this place every time because of this very room. I don’t really want to say any more otherwise we will never be able to get that room again if too many people know about it! OK; we had a balcony and so took our breakfast there and what with the coffee and drinks brought up from the café below we made a lot of use of this facility.

Room Tip: I can't add more than the tip I have already given

I went with my Mum for a city break, on arrival we waited 10 minutes for them to come and unlock the door and were then taken up 3 flights of stairs to reception by a sweet old Italian man. He took us to our room and was very helpful providing us with maps etc.

For the rest of the weekend we did not see this man again but instead different Italian men all of which were not so friendly. Breakfast is served by the cleaners who stand in the cornor talking in Italian whilst watching you eat your 1 croissant or slice of dry bread.

The hotel is right next to a tube station which is convenient though.

The room was very small yet was always kept very clean and constantly beds were made by the cleaners/waitresses every day.

The bin men come round at about 3am every single day and wake you up without fail which can be slightly annoying.

I loved this hotel, they were soooo sooooo nice at the front desk and the room was small but thats what you get but very nice. However, one thing.... the bed!! I would have had a better night sleep on cardboard and to be honest i think it messed up my leg for a few days. By no means do I what to come accross as mean, this is more of a message to Le Petit to get a new bed :)
ps - great location..
