Hotel Campo De' Fiori was a great choice for our trip to Rome. The location was perfect for walking to everything, we did not use a taxi or public transit for anything. The square that is nearby has a lot of restaurants & bars, but they are pretty touristy so we mostly chose to walk back into the neighborhoods for dinner. The best part about the place is the roof terrace, it has stunning views over the top of Rome. It was a little cold while we were there, but that just meant we had the whole roof to ourselves, with a bottle of wine and some blankets it was the perfect way to spend the evening after dinner. The small size of the rooms didn't bother me at all, it was all we needed and the bathrooms are great, but for nearly $200 a night it would have been nice if our window had looked out at something other than the wall of the building next door.

Great boutique hotel in fabulous location with all major Rome attractions within 15 minutes walk. Our room while not huge was very well presented with an immaculate bathroom. The staff were polite and helpful and the roof terrace offers amazing views of the city and a great location to enjoy a pre dinner glass of vino. Breakfast is cold meats cheese and bread - perfectly adequate to get you started for the day.

There is a square adjacent to the hotel full of bars and reasonably priced restaurants - you need not stray from here at night!

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Campo De Fiori for 2 nights in March 09. From the moment we arrived to the day we left we found the staff helpful, polite and very friendly with all speaking excellent English. Our room was a standard double, which was elegantly decorating clean and a lot bigger than we were led to believe in some other reviews. The bathroom was very modern with a shower, no bath but this was not a problem for us. As for the location, it was perfect being so close to the Campo De Fiori, which meant we had bars and good restaurants nearby and also meant we were within walking distance of pretty much all the major sites in Rome. The roof terrace was a bonus and gave amazing views across this beautiful city. We will definitely be returning to this traditional Italian hotel and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Rome.

Excellent hotel; we stayed at beginning and end of our journey. Filling breakfast included Plus location is just steps to market where we filled water bottle, bought a chunk of Parmigan cheese and fruit for lunch everyday. Very close to major sites. Staff is very informed, excellent english and solid recommendations. Streets wind a LOT nearby, we got lost constantly going to recommended eateries. The Staff's recommendations for dining were fantastic. Strongly recommend talking to front desk folks. Amazing view for photos from roof. Cool Basilica steps away too. Downsides: internet in room via tv was slow and worthless, we found an internet cafe nearby; staff recommended a nearby hotel for one night's stay (Campo was booked), that recommendation was poor. Room was a little dark, small. We loved and miss hotel though. I would return.

My wife and I stayed here and I decided to splash out on a more expensive room, which was on the top floor. I had read reviews that the rooms were small but 'small' is a bit of an understatement... ours was tiny. There was barely enough room for the bed, and literally just a narrow space around it, though they have squeezed in a small dressing table and a tiny pouffe on which to sit at it. There was nowhere to put our suitcases except in the wardrobe, one at ground level, and nowhere to sit except on the bed. No chairs! No room for them. The bath room has no bath, just a shower, which admittedly is rather plush.

So I suppose you could say the room was 'intimate', and the bed was certainly very comfortable and it was all cosy and finished to a high standard, but really, I'm not sure I would be able to offer it with a clean conscience as a double room if I ran a hotel. Change the double for a single bed and stick a chair in there... but then you'd probably not rent it half the time.

On the plus side, the staff were very helpful, polite and friendly at all times. The internet only worked once by ethernet cable but thereafter I was given a WiFi access code, which was fine.

If you're big on breakfast, sadly the breakfast falls rather short... there's nothing cooked, and everything is very processed: cold meats and cheese were not your typical Italian style but more like what you'd buy in Asda in the UK. Individually-packaged 'croissants' with long best-before dates; tinned fruit salad; supermarket yogurts, and milk left out to lose its chill; juices with indiscernible flavours and unnatural colours. Um-Bongo anyone? And finally, the cappuccino was just filter coffee with frothed milk on top -- I'm afraid I wasn't fooled. Okay so I understand they want to keep costs down by offering a breakfast that doesn't require more than a single member of staff to cater for the entire hotel, but we'd rather have paid more and had better.

To redress the balance slightly for all that moaning (hey I'm British), I can say that the location is absolutely stunning, the views from the roof garden are stunning, the staff excellent, and on the whole we enjoyed our stay tremendously and would stay here again... we just might just lower our breakfast expectations, or grab breakfast in one of the many cafes around the Campo.
