“Jewel box of a room, great location..but I think you can do better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2010

We stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel and room were lovely. Like a little jewel box with a balcony overlooking the Roman rooftops all the way to St. Peter's dome. Rooftop terrace was a delight before or after sightseeing. Breakfast was a bit better than average. Service was mediocre at best, and the taxi we booked through the hotel for airport transfer attempted to rip us off. Best attraction of the city were within walking distance. This, and the pretty room are the only reason I would recommend this hotel. Campo de fiori is a great base for visiting Rome. Nightlife right outside your door. Great market during the day, good gelato, and the bakery at the corner of the campo has delicious pizza that they measure by the foot! Lively at all hours. But unfortunately, value for hotel was lacking.

Dear Guest,
I would like to personally thank you for your feedback on your stay in our Hotel, but I was wondering...why did you write your review after 10 MONTHS??
In 10 months our quality is highly improved thanks to our guests' advises and to the care we always have in enriching our service for our guests'convenience.
Moreover when you stayed here, our Hotel have recently reopened and many things have changed, as you can see from the recent reviews we have. From these reviews you can see that "service" is our strong point...honestly I do not quite understand what do you mean by writing "service was mediocre": do you mean service at the reception, room cleaning service, breakfast...?? As regards the breakfast it is highly improved, we increased the choice and the quality of our products.
These are the reasons why your review honestly does not match with our present reality...
You wrote that the taxi you booked through the Hotel attempted to rip you off, but that does not explain exactly what happened, but if you are complaining about the price, I can absolutely guarantee that our car service is provided at no more than a standard taxi rate.
I would like also to comment on when you say that "value for hotel was lacking": if you are talking about the room rate, I can assure you that your rate was perfectly adequate to the high season period (moreover you booked last year, when the dollar had a really high value) and to the type of room you booked: you had a top floor room with private balcony and as far as I can understand you loved it!
I really hope to have the oppurtunity to welcome you in the future and give you the possibility to change your mind!

Best Regards

My family and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Campo de Fiori and we highly recommend it. It's located in the historic center, just off the Piazzi Campo de Fiori. The piazza is home to a farmer's market in the mornings, and then several outdoor cafes take over. The stunning Piazza Navona is a short walk- 4-5 blocks. We cabbed around town and because of our central location it was easy and relatively cheap. The Vatican, The Trevi fountain/Spanish Steps, The Collesum/Rome Forum are all short rides and cost 8-10 euros for 4 people. The hotel is quiet and offers a wonderful breakfast in a basement dining room. Be sure to spend some time on the rooftop garden- with tremendous views. We took a bottle of wine to the roof and soaked in the sunset. The rooms are a bit small but very modern and comfortable. This part of town is a good choice for people who enjoy the nightlife, lots of cafes, pizzerias etc. The staff is friendly and efficient- especially Matteo- an American transplant who now calls Roma home. Matteo is quick to offer tips on attractions, dining recommendations, and help of all kinds. He's one of those people who makes sure guests are happy. We can't wait to return!

Very nice location. Very kind staff members, always ready to help, The room was nicely decorated, with style, very clean. We stayed on the sixth floor enjoying a small balcony where we could relax, read, have a drink and watch the sunset. On the rooftop there is a quite large terrasse on different levels offering different views (360°) of Rome. Even if located in a quite busy area, the ambiance was very quite and relaxing. Many nice restaurants in the area and all main sites to visit within walking distances. Breakfast room is located in the basement. We would have preferred on the rooftop like in many hotels in Rome but it was ok, nice decoration, Italian way, nice light music and finally the most important was a simple but nice buffet. (Only cold dishes). The only "-" comment we would make concerns the supply of soap/shampoo in the bathroom which are quite (too) limited.

We just returned 2 weeks ago from a wonderful weekend in Rome,
After 2 months reserching on trip advisor for a hotel in Rome, I can most definatly say that this was a fantastic choice, We prebooked pick up from FCO airport which was 50 euro each way, we were met in the arrivals hall, our driver was holding a card with our names on it and Hotel Campo Di Fiori written underneath, we were escorted to our car a black mercedes benz with leather seats {very posh!}, and were whisked to our hotel in approx 30mins{very professional service}.

Upon arrival at the hotel, the staff were very nice and friendly and while the gentleman checked us in the lady at reception, asked us if it was our 1st time in Roma and showed us a handy map of the city, marked where the hotel was located and told us how far walking distance everywhere was from the hotel, we didnt have to ask......

Room was beautiful, very tastefully decorated as was the whole hotel. Bathroom was amazing, piped music also so if you have the TV on you can hear it in the bathroom!

Very Comfy Bed and pillows, spotless clean!

Breakfast in the Basement was fantastic!

Rooftop Terrace was AMAZING, Pictures cant describe how nice it is...You have to see it for yourself, again spotless clean, never any rubbish or bottles or glasses left around, we used it 2 evenings and had it to ourselves, You also feel like its your own private apartment with terrace in Rome, rather than staying at a stuffy hotel.

2 mins walk from the Piazza Navona, Beautiful Fountains {even nicer than trevi with less crowds}

We walked everywhere in Rome, whe had a map and didnt take any tours, although opentop buses did leave from the main corso near the hotel.

One evening we wanted to get night photos of the colosseum and took a taxi , as we had been walking for about 8 hours each day sightseeing, it was just 7 euro and took about 5 mins, well worth it.

Lots of restraunts and a takeway Pizza, which sells beer, wine , coke water etc and Gelato shop near the hotel.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel, its a must. It made our stay in Rome a wonderful positive experiance.

Thank you to the Staff of Hotel Campo Di Fiori!

my wife and me had a very pleasant stay at hotel campo fiori. it is situated very central. within a 15 min walk you can reach almost all touristic attractivities of rome. our room was not that big, but we did not care, we liked it a lot. very romantic, with a top level bathoom. the staff of the hotel is vigilant, pacient and extraordinary helpful. they recommended us brilliant restaurants very close and off the touristic tracks: just to mention two of them: roscioli (famous for stinky cheese and prosciutto ...delicatesses, noodles and outstandig wine accompaniement very italian!) or il san lorenzo (very delicious fish from the island of ponza, little expensive but top top top!) ....
when we come back to rome, we will book this hotel again for sure. tip: saving money by online bookin ;-)
greetings to the stuff, n+h nowak
PS they offer a pick up service from the airport (you cant get quicker to the city ...!)

Sitting on the roof-top terrace at the end of a long day was the icing on the cake. 360 degree views of Rome enabled us to muse over the lie of the land and our sightseeing, as well as unwinding before an evening meal. The rooms are very small, but beautifully furnished, and comfortable. We had room 603, a deluxe room and meant to be one of their better ones, which unfortunately is just below the main terrace and next to the stairs, so other guests walking up and down the stairs kept me awake. The soundproofing is good for excluding sound from the street, but not from the corridor. The bed was on the small side; my husband fell out in the night! However, I would come back to this hotel, and make sure I asked for a different room away from the staircase. Having said that, our room did have a good view. Great shower - good and powerful, but once there was no hot water.

I don't know if it is the norm not to have tea and coffee making facilities in your room in Roman hotels, but this one didn't have any, and it would have been nice. I didn't see any way of ordering tea or coffee at other times - guess that you need to go to a cafe, but I need my tea when I wake up!

Breakfast was good, and the dining room beautifully decorated with friendly and efficient staff. Staff on the desk were friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this hotel, and stay for my next visit.

Dear Guest,
we would like to thank you for your feedback posted on Tripadvisor, following your stay at the Hotel Campo de' Fiori. We stayed four days, the rooms are quiet, clean with bathrooms of good quality.
The continental breakfast was adequate and was included in the room rate which was very reasonable for Rome.
The hotel position on the Campo de Fiori is great with bars and restaurants near by and the nightlife in this area is fun. The hotel is well positioned within walking distance of the Vatican, Colosseum, River and bus services for the City and main railway station.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English
